Risu Trying for: White Rose
Prompt: 2
Rp Response:

Her beautiful flowers were the joy of her days. She would spend hours just wandering amidst the pungent aromas they produced. The white roses were her favorite, which was why many of her friends referred to her as the White Rose. That was not her real name of course, but she didn't mind them calling her that. Her parents had named her New Moon, as she was born under a new moon, when the sky was clear and full of stars. But lately her joy amidst the flowers was diminished. Many of her lovely petaled beauties were mysteriously missing. She had asked her friends if they knew anything, but no one could give her any clue as to what had happened to them.

She spent a few days formulating a plan of her own to find an answer to her dilemma. Since she spent most of the day among the flowers, she determined that whatever was happening must be taking place at night. She was not a Risu that was comfortable out in the open at night, which is why she never noticed anything until the flowers were already gone. Her plan required her to spend a night out in the flower fields, under stars, all alone. Her skin shivered every time she thought about it, but she cared for her flowers too much to be afraid. She decided she would pick a night when the moon was full, so she would have plenty of moonlight to see by.

She'd been preparing for this night for weeks, waiting for the new moon to rise. She left the shelter of her home just before the sun set, so that she would arrive at the field as the moon was rising. There was one small birch tree near the edge of the field and she had decided to hide in it's branches. It's white bark would allow her to blend into the tree's natural camouflage. As the moon rose, she found herself mesmerized by the beauty of her lovely flowers as they shimmered under the light of the moon. She couldn't believe she had missed so much beauty, simply because she was afraid to come out at night. Her sharp eyes scanned the expanse of the field, taking in every flower and bush when a movement at the edge of the field caught her eye. A dark shape was entering the field from the far side, and the only reason she could see it was due to the moonlight. She watched intently as it moved through her beloved flowers. It approached one of the rare white rose bushes and stopped. To her horror, it reached up to the beautiful buds and broke a number of them off the bush. She could not abide such a desecration of her lovely rose bush. She clamored down the tree and rushed across the field, intent on confronting the thief.

Had he been paying attention, Starshine would have noticed the streak of white racing toward him through the field. However, his attention was focused solely on the white roses he was busy picking. He'd been coming to the field for a number of nights now, choosing the most beautiful flowers each night and taking them home. His intention was not to destroy, but to create a beautiful bouquet for the beautiful Risu that had stolen his heart. He didn't know her name, but he had seen her one day as she walked through the field, obviously admiring the flowers. Some might wonder what sort of bouquet he was putting together, what with it taking days to collect the flowers, but he had a special gift that allowed him to keep the flowers alive even after they had been cut from their plant. The bouquet he eventually presented to his love would never wilt or die, just as his love for her would never do.

He had collected the buds he wanted and was about to turn and leave when he heard a shout come from amidst the taller plants. "STOP!!!" he heard, and as he turned in the direction of the voice he was surprised to see her! There she was, rushing toward him, more beautiful in the moonlight than she had ever seemed in the daylight. "What are you doing to my beautiful flowers?" she exclaimed!

If his fur were a lighter color she would have seen him blush. "I'm sorry, I did not know these flowers belonged to any one person. Had I known they were yours, I would never had taken any. Please forgive me. My name is Starshine. May I know yours?" Her attention seemed to be solely focused on the roses he had so recently plucked.

"People call me White Rose, or just Rose, and the flowers are not exactly mine, but I don't like to see them destroyed unnecessarily. Was it you who has been taking them every night?"

White Rose, what a perfect name for her he thought. Now he could understand her annoyance at his taking the buds he had chosen tonight. They were probably her favorite. "I must confess that is has. I have been working on a gift for a special Risu, and the flowers were a most important part of that gift. If I may have your forgiveness for my intrusion, I will no longer remove any of the flowers from this field and I will take my leave." Not that he wanted to leave. Now that he had learned her name, and spoken to her, the last thing he wanted was to leave her presence.

As he explained his actions, she found herself admiring his appearance. She could well see why he had been named Starshine, and she was half inclined to tell him her true name. And he was using her flowers as a gift for someone! That made her heart soften toward him all the more. Whoever the Risu was, she was sure it must be someone very special to him. "You have my forgiveness. I will not keep you any longer. And thank you for not taking anymore of the flowers from the field." He gave her a small bow and took his leave. She watched as his blue body disappeared into the trees bordering the field. She wondered if she would ever see him again, and just exactly what sort of gift he was making with the flowers. Perhaps one day she would find out, but for now she just wanted to return home and sleep. It had been a stressful night, and she was ready for the safety of her burrow.

Risu Trying for: Hummingbird Moth
Prompt: 1
Rp Response:
Hemaris was out enjoying the beautiful sunshine, on a most glorious day. These were her favorite times, when the sun was high in the sky and the flowers were in full bloom. As she walked amid the myriad of colored flowers, she began to hum. Small birds flew to her and began to chirp themselves. This made her extremely happy, and she hummed all the more. She was headed for a particular patch of orange flowers today, and so passed all the others by. As more birds flocked to her location, the sound of their voices joining together became quite loud. Other risu in the vicinity lifted their heads from what they were doing to see what was causing the cacophony. Hemaris however was oblivious to them. She simply reveled in the ever growing song.

She reached the patch of day lilies and stopped, admiring the beauty of them. She knew that once she picked them, they would not survive for very long, but she just had to take some back to her home. They didn't give off any noticeable scent, but it was their beauty she wanted to admire, not their smell. She began to select the ones with the longest stems, thinking about the vase she would place them in later. Her humming had diminished as she got to work, so most of the birds had flown away into nearby trees. As she picked each flower, she laid it gently on the ground until she had a good size group. She knew not to pick more than she could carry in her mouth, and stopped when she had reached that number. She picked them up all together and started on her way home.

Walking with a bouquet of lilies in one's mouth made seeing where one was going very difficult, and thus Hemaris was startled when she bumped into something. She lowered the lilies gently to the ground, letting them fall from her mouth as she looked to see what it was that had obstructed her progress. There in front of her stood a beautiful male risu, holding what appeared to be a bouquet of white roses.
(Sorry Shanra, I couldn't resist using Starshine.)
"Forgive me," she said, "I didn't see you there."

"Quite understandable, considering the number of lilies obstructing your view. You've chosen some very lovely ones if I might say so. Are they for yourself or someone else?"

"Oh, they are just for me." She was looking at the roses he carried, and admiring them. "Those are beautiful! Where did you find them?"

"In a field not far from here. They are a gift for a very special lady, and not to be rude, but I must get them home quickly before they begin to wilt. It was pleasant bumping into you. Perhaps we will meet again."

She watched as he sped away down the path. She picked up her own flowers once again and continued on her way home, hoping she would not be so unfortunate as to bump into anyone else.
