Part 1: how to smith a sword
Once you start playing the game, you are shown a tutorial on how to smith. So i won’t be surprised if all of you here know how to smith already. But i will just run down through the basics one more time.
🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸
🌸 the first step is to make sure you have enough resources (they are found in the top part of the screen)
🌸 once you see you have enough resources you may begin smithing by clicking
🌸 you are then greeted by two smithing slots, choose any of the two to smith. (the other two slots cannot be unlocked but has to bought in the shop)
🌸 once you have chosen a slot, input the number of resources you wish to use to smith. 50/50/50/50 is the default number of resources used, it cannot go lower.
the left blue botton is the max resource (999), and the left is the min resource (50) the two green arrows allows you to add resources but 1 digit
🌸 when you are satisfied with your choice of resources you may begin your smith. click the big pink button by the lower left which means 'begin smith' (the game is RNG so it is no guarantee you will get the sword you want, although there are certain recipes that will help you get specific timers)
🌸 once you have clicked the 'begin smith' button, you will see the timer of your new sword
🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸
and that ends part 1 of our smithing tutorial. for our next part i shall show you the different recipe and timers for certain swords
🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸
TIPS ON SMITHING
*think it through and decide if you really want to smith *make sure to see if you have enough resources to use (never over use your resources for they are difficult to obtain, unless you are able to buy then in the shop *make sure to know what recipe you are using (but don't get your hopes up if the timer you want doesn't show up)
and lastly
PRAY TO THE GREAT RNG GOD AND CONFESS YOUR SINS TO SWORD JESUS WHO IS ISHIKIMARU

Part 2: recipes and timers
'rec·i·pe' ˈresəˌpē noun a set of instructions for preparing a particular dish, including a list of the ingredients required.
Once you have clicked the 'begin smith' button, you will see the timer of your new sword. The timer indicates the type of sword you are going to obtain (tachi, oodachi, tanou etc) Specific timers appear with certain recipes.
🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸
🌸 RECIPE: a list of recipes may be found in the touken ranbu wikia
🌸 TIMERS: timers indicate the type of sword you can obtain. a list of timers may be found in the touken ranbu wikia.
i will try and summarize the list of timers here (but the wiki is also helpful since they have the names of the swords listed in each timer)
TANTOU 00:20:00 00:30:00 (rare, due to low drop rate)
*** you may also check the comment section in each of the character's profiles to know different recipes to obtain them. ** although it has been said that leaders have an effect on what sword comes out, the wikia has stated that it does not. sad * the game is RNG so even if you get the timer you want, it not might be the sword you are aiming for. SO PRAY.

Part 3: using ema
ema (絵馬) are like the 'enhancers' of smithing. they are able to give high chances of obtaining rare and high rarity swords. ema are obtained by certain missions and are purchasable in the shop
🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸
🌸 ema are located at the lower left of the smithing page (they are also located in the same place, in the troops page)
🌸 there are four types of ema in the game (in order) plum, bamboo, pine and fuji ema
🌸 once you choose an ema it will appear in the smithing room ready to use
🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸
TIPS ON USING EMA (VERY IMPORTANT)
*** PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, think it through before using an ema. ** emas are only available 4 times on missions and are only purchasable in shops.. * from experience i wasted two (2) emas and just got 1:30:00 timers so please be careful in using them

Part 4: request token
request tokens (依頼札) are required for smithing swords. they can be obtained from certain battle nodes, expeditions, and rewards for completing Missions. they are also purchasable in the shop.
🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸
🌸 ema are located at the upper right of the smithing page.
🌸 once you smith, you will be removed of one request token
🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸
TIPS ON USING REQUEST TOKEN
*** do not abuse smithing, yes you might have a lot of resources but you will be losing your ability to smith if you run out. ** be careful for timers are deadly

Part 5: help token
help token (手伝い札) can be used in smithing and repairing swords. they can be obtained as rewards for completing Missions. they are also purchasable in the shop.
🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸
🌸 help tokens are located at the lower right of the smithing page, left of the 'begin smithing' button
🌸 once you decide to speed up the smithing process, you will be removed of one help token
🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸-🌸
TIPS ON USING HELP TOKEN
*** you may use help tokens in repairs as well
