Sometime in the next week or two, I'm going to be starting a blanket from this blog and I wanted to see if anyone wants to do it with me.

It was originally a CAL of a block a week, but since everything is already released, it will be more of "At least a block a week" but more if you want to. As soon as I get payment on my latest commission I'll be buying the yarn to start mine up.

Of course, no one is required to join up. I just thought I'd see if anyone wants to make it with me. If not, I'll just start a project thread to show everyone how I'm doing on it. blaugh

I'd like to do that along with you. I was wondering though if I could just use the yarn I already have. I need to use up mountain'o yarn stash. lol.

Yeah, I don't see why not. I'm going to use some stuff out of my stash too just to cut down on the cost. As long as everything is the same weight (and fiber type if you want to wash it) it should be fine.

I just found out last night though, that some of the patterns by a couple designers have been moved from free to paid (kinda crappy of them, if you ask me) but the photo tutorials are still up by the blogger. It looks like from what she's posted, you could almost definitely glean all the information you need from her pictures.

If that doesn't turn out to be the case, I have a couple books of afghan squares that I'll pull some from.

Sounds good. I'm looking forward to doing blocks. They're so much fun and you can finish it and feel really efficient. lol.

Do they show the links to the patterns? If so and if anyone else wants to buy them then we should give them the choice. I was looking at a couple finished projects and saw a spectacular center block. I was hoping that it's a part of this project. I'm not sure if it is or not.(I didn't wait for all the pics to load. It was late when I viewed them.) If it's not and it's supposed to be included, I would love to purchase it. So I hope they show the "buy" link for that one at least.

You're probably seeing sophie's garden CAL that's being used for the center block. All of the blocks have links to their respective patterns, whether or not they're free. I would like to pay the designers too, but just getting the money together for the yarn to make the blanket has been a month long adventure in itself. I knitted a commission to make the money and I'll be damned if I won't make what I want with it.

Hurray! lol. Duh. Of course.

I have sooooo much yarn that I won't have to buy any. So I can spend a little on some of the designs. Can't wait. Do you happen to know a starting date yet?

I wish I did, but sadly not yet. The commission that's paying for this hasn't exactly paid yet. I know he said he was going to be out of town over the weekend but I messaged him on sunday and he hasn't answered back yet.

It's starting to make me a little nervous, but I'm sure they're just busy.

Don't get me wrong. I love my yarn stash, but a lot of it is inherited and is discontinued so it's impossible to find any more of it if I needed it. But I still love it.

It would be nice for people to answer back. Maybe by Friday. Could be waiting on paycheck. I know how that its

Don't worry about it. There's no rush for me and we haven't exactly notified everyone else either. You may need to send out an announcement to let everyone know what you're planning on doing. It would give them time to prepare for it and gather their supplies if they want to start it.

Update; I'll probably close this thread out. The money I had set aside went towards paying the CYCA to start my certification to be an instructor. I already work at a Michaels store, and we needed someone so I'm taking the position.

Unfortunately, that means no blanket cal for me. Sorry to get your hopes up, I didn't expect things to turn around like this.

Well, that's ok. I may start up a CAL of my own in a new thread then. I really liked the idea of making something as a group like that.

Congratulations on a new position though. I would think that it's a good thing. I hope it is anyway. And I hope we'll see you around as well. Let us know how your job is going and how you're feeling too. *hugs*

I won't start my first class until June, but I'm excited to teach again. And in this case, I get to put my class hours towards being certified so I can apply it to anywhere I want to be a teacher.

I did however just get my handbooks on knitting and crocheting. If you're interested, let me know and I can see about making the PDF available. There's a lot of good information for beginners and experienced knitters/crocheters alike. And as far as I can see, I'm free to share it where I'd like as long as it's not for profit and benefits others educationally.

That sounds really beneficial to your work. Congratulations.

Ooo... That would be lovely if you could make it available to the guild. You could put it in the Guides forum. Love that idea. Thanks so much for being willing to share it. heart

Frog, I'm moving this thread to the Archive because in about a week we're going to start our CAL and I didn't want someone to get confused if they saw two threads about CALs. If you want it listed in the Information Center feel free to move it back. I hope you're doing good and enjoying work still. Talk to you later. heart
