Sorry if this is a little random but it's been bugging me for a bit now.
I'm not one much for clothes shopping but where ever I go I usually end up slowly gravitating towards the men's section of the store. But when ever I'm there I feel like I have a thousand eyes on me. I try to shake it off but eventually I end up feeling stupid and going over to the girls section, Then I end up either getting nothing or getting something I didn't want at all. (Small side note - these girl jeans are driving me insane. Why are there no pockets in them!?)
I know it's probably just me, but I have heard the occasional whispered comment when I pass by someone, so it's not all in my head...at least I hope not.
Lately I've been wondering, is it just me who feels like this, or am I l just weird?

I know that this is a lot easier said than done, but you will honestly never be able to please everyone. Even if people give you weird looks or say things, that's their problem and not yours. As someone who crossplays, I have occasionally gotten some weird looks because I shop in the men's section--but I cannot always find what I want in the women's.
In the end, clothes are clothes and you should wear whatever you feel most comfortable with. If you want to wear men's clothes, then I say go for it. In my opinion, they are a lot looser and way more comfy than women's clothes anyways. Women's clothes seem to only be made very tightly or too matronly, with few cute alternatives in-between.
If it helps you, try having a supportive friend going with you next time you go clothes shopping, and look in whatever sections you want. Best wishes! emotion_bigheart

I'm not big on clothes shopping either but, as I am transgender, I don't have many women's clothes. So when I do go shopping I usually end up in the women's section but I'm usually pretty anxious when I'm there. I walk around and look at clothes but it's usually awhile before I even grab anything. Eventually, however, I do grab some clothes and bring them to the cashier. In the end you should do what makes you happy and not care about what others may think.

If you have ever seen or met Shiny, you would know girl clothes are out of the question. Ain't happening. My build is built for ruggedness. Not frilliness.

I know the feeling, I have unusually broad shoulders and thick calves for a girl (thanks what my doc said anyway) So I couldn't wear most girls clothing even if I wanted to (and i don't) Plus I like having pockets and being able to actually move around instead of moving like 2 inches then having to readjust everything.

Thanks for that advice everyone smile
I usually shop at the local clothing store in my town and everyone kind of know everyone in there, most of my anxiety comes from thinking my family is going to finding out about it.
I'm not exactly out to family yet and I'm a little nervous about them finding out.

Lately I've been wondering, is it just me who feels like this, or am I l just weird? You're not weird at all for that! I love men's jeans and shorts for that exact reason! POCKETS! biggrin The day when clothes designers make comfortable, fashionable and workable women's clothes, especially (In my case) Plus sizes, will be a wondrous day. A day that will probably never come, because clearly NO designers think girls need pockets. xD We all have tiny asses, no breasts and skinny frames. Not true, designers. We all have different body types, and nothing is going to fit everyone the same. We are all beautiful, but we have different needs. OK. Now I'm rambling, but this is a subject close to my heart. Ever since I was a kid I've worn boys shorts and jeans. I think I had one pair of embroidered women's jeans, and never shopped there again. Pacific Sunwear. They were snobs to me because I've got a bit of extra weight, and were like; "Nothing's gonna fit you here." I'm standing there thinking: "Did this b***h really just fat shame me?" Sorry, this is coming off very anti-thin. I'm not anti-size, honestly. I just don't like being treated badly for my size. Now that I've said all that...I will shadda my face. Or keyboard in this case. xD

Lately I've been wondering, is it just me who feels like this, or am I l just weird? Ewww girl clothing... just kidding~ But I understand that! I used to wear guy clothes all the time (still guilty now and then), my dad was helpful. My mom hated that I wanted to dress like a guy but it's so modest for non-showy people like me and so much more comfortable all together. So don't feel ashamed or anything for wanting to wear guy clothing! It's so much more comfortable and the pockets are massive black holes of space (glorious!!!) If it bothers any family members, try mixing between girl and guy clothing, like I'd wear a fitted shirt and guy pants or girls pants and a monosex/guy shirt. Some look like they can fit either gender, so good luck my dear and no matter what, you're beautiful no matter what you wear!! heart 3nodding

I completely understand. I feel like a lot of clothes for women, even if they are more boyish, are still overly feminine. It's very, very annoying. Which reminds me, I need to update my wardrobe and fill it with less girly clothes.
It's your choice. Wear what makes you feel comfortable. Be yourself. Don't get me wrong, it can be scary to just be yourself. Each human is unique. Many people go through similar experiences, but in the end, you are you. It's pretty brave to go against the mainstream.
Good luck! ^ ^ gaia_star
