I know that we all have our unique routines while writing. Just curious if I'm alone in this. (: If I am, that's okay. LOL. We all have things that only work only for ourselves.
My question is: Do you tend to focus on just one piece of work at a time, or do you attempt to do two or more? Can you multitask between stories?
I have recently discovered that writing another piece while pushing through my main story really works out, as it helps push the clutter out of my head so I can focus on the main story at hand. I have ADHD, so my brain is constantly hopping, especially as far as ideas for future work goes.
I am about 4 chapters away from finishing my main story I have been working on since August, and for whatever reason, I have the WORST writer's block trying to get it done. I know what I want to happen, but it's just not coming out. However, I've had a creativity streak for completely unrelated stories, so I began writing them. I've found myself working on my main piece once more!

It depends on the fandom, really. Sometimes I work on multiple fics at once, sometimes I just do one at a time.

It really depends on a lot of factors. In the past, No, I haven't. I'd work exclusively on one story and one alone.
Currently, I'm technically working on two (planning for a third, which I haven't started yet). It's kind of a unique circumstance, however. I've been writing for the Dragon Age series lately, and considering how much the events of each game influence how the stories pan out of the ones that follow, I felt it was important for me to work on the stories simultaneously to keep the details the same. I'm not posting my fanfiction for the second or third games until I finish the one for the first game. I don't want to spoil things that I haven't covered yet.
When regarding writer's block, I do find writing something else often helps. I roleplay as well, so sometimes taking a couple days off of writing fanfiction to come up with a good reply for my partner helps. Or, I pick a random prompt and write a one-chapter fanfiction that may or may not get posted.
Or, sometimes I just go and re-experience the fandom I'm writing for. But, you didn't ask about writer's block.

Considering how long it takes me to finish fanfics and post them (one-shots included), I'm always working on multiple fics. The only exception is poetry, which I've posted a lot of in the past and really didn't spend long writing/editing before getting them up (and I don't think I worked on anything else while writing/editing the poems... but as I said, it really doesn't take me long to write those in the first place... like half an hour or an hour tops).
Hmm, but it's not like I'm working on fanfics all the time (every day) anyways. The way I work on a fanfic often goes like this: Initial idea and planning; More planning; More and More planning (eventually a solid outline per chapter after the entire thing is planned and every plot and subplot laid out); Write a chapter; Months later write more; Months to a year or two later write more; Etc, etc, editing, etc, until finally, I'm DONE! And since 2009, I don't post anything online until the whole thing is done (I left people off on a cliffhanger for a year once and I don't want to do that again). So I've got several fanfics I'm working on now, whenever I get back to them. They'll get done eventually.
It helps that I'm mostly writing for two completed canons. Though, I do have a few fanfics for some ongoing canons... and I'm just setting them in a specific season/story arc (it's fine, it'll work this way). Oh, there is one that is set for later (near future) and the canon is ongoing, but the canon is moving at snail's pace, so I've got at least a year to get that one done without whatever shows up in canon completely debunking the idea.

I find it easier to work on one story at a time; that way, I can actually make sure it gets done. If I get Writer's Block, I just step away from the story for a while and give myself time to think. Working on multiple stories at once gets confusing for me, and I may end up forgetting about the main one I'm working on.

I can work on multiple stories at the same time (it's actually easier for my overactive brains. I'm serious, it helps me, to get those stories out), but I try to keep it around 3 stories at most at the same time.
I know from my personal experience that when I go to the author's profile and I see 101 unfinished stories there (whether they're good or bad, doesn't matter in this case), it's such a "turn off" for me and lately I don't even bother giving his or her stories a second look because of that...
At the moment I am working on two longer stories. The biggest one is actually my first fanfic ever and it's become my "golden child" in so many ways, that it's still hard to believe it sometimes. The other story is actually a series, with many story parts.
Then, while I'm working on these long stories, I might throw in a oneshot or another longer story once in a while, and keep people happy by not forgetting my other stories at the same time...
