Nathaniel plucked a fresh rose from his rose garden as he strolled down the driveway to get into his carriage. It got so many stares and comments, it was quite unusual to see a Victorian horse and carriage going through the modern city, but Nathaniel loved it and wouldn't travel any other way unless he really had to. Yes, he was eccentric, but he honestly did not care one iota what humans thought of his behaviour. Actually, most thought him charming and eloquent, at least the women did, which was totally wasted on him,he had no interest in romancing a woman. He climbed into the carriage and settled himself on the midnight blue velvet seat. He tapped on the roof when he was ready for the driver to set off. He was going to the auction house. It had been a long while since he'd entertained himself by buying anything new for his beautiful Grecian temple styled home. Maybe some new statuary or some urns. There was a slave auction that day too and he may take a peek at what was available.
At the auction house, Nathaniel was personally greeted and shown to his VIP seat. They knew him well here, he was a valued customer. Indeed, his carriage had come from here. He looked through the brochure he was given. He spotted an usual statue, a male full size figure that would just suit his bedroom, there was the perfect spot for in in an alcove beside the window. He'd had a David there but it had been broken by a careless, now sacked, cleaner. This could replace it. Or maybe in the rose garden, beneath the arbour? He'd decide once he got it home. He won the bid, of course, most people stopped bidding as soon as they realised that Nathaniel had his eye on it. Next to check out the slaves. He hadn't expected to spot one he wanted but he was very much mistaken. As soon as he set eyes on the ebony haired beauty he knew he had to have him. And so, two perfect purchase to take home!
