Tae-Joon, or Bae, started renting an apartment in the city when he realized that his beloved would be living here with his lover. The apartment is rather dark, a little dusty since he likes to remain home in South Korea if he can, but it's nice enough for its uses.The Living RoomThe living room's covered in paintings, sculptures, anything that the previous tenant thought suited his fancy. When Bae moved in, he chose not to alter this room. He doesn't much care for it.The Dining RoomHe does, however, like the dining room. It's spacious, nice enough, and the table is well-made.The BedroomUnlike the other rooms, Bae's bedroom was of his own decoration. It's very simple, connected to a bathroom and always tidy, but he wouldn't have it any other way.The BalconyHot tub, great view, what else could a bachelor want?
Oh yeah. A songwriter to share it all with.

Bae "Damn it."
Bae rubbed his damp hair with the towel on his head, draping his shirt over the back of the couch and flopping onto the cushions. He grabbed the remote, turning on the television and sighing through his nose. What a day! He'd had to endure so much at the expense of Ellery, his true love, and for what? To come home to an empty apartment, to drink beer and stare at the television, watching crappy programs about people that he didn't know or care to know. He snatched his cold beer from the coffee table, pulling a bottle opener from the drawer beside the couch and opening the bottle. After swigging about a quarter of the bottle, he burped into a fist and switched channels, continuing to do so until he landed on an old movie from the 60s starring Doris Day and Rock Hudson. Why couldn't he have love like that?
Hearing his oven beep, Bae stood and let his long legs carry him to the kitchen, putting down the beer and sticking on purple oven mitts to take out the small lasagna Ellery had sent to him just the other day. He stuck a fork into the pasta, discarding the mitts and grabbing his beer. He needed much more than just this to get drunk, but one would do for now. Was he even supposed to be drinking in this country? Was he even legal?
Who cares?
He sighed once more, looking to the clock. It wasn't that late, but he still just wanted to go to bed. He couldn't take much more of this yearning, aching pain in his chest. He needed to sleep, or do something else to get Ellery off of his mind, but what? what was there in this Godforsaken city to distract him from the knowledge that the one person he truly loved would never love him back, and preferred a moody, perpetually frowning detective instead of him?

Kenshin Yamada Kenshin moved a hand to knock on the door, but stopped. He bit his bottom lip. Don't do this. Why was he here? All he'd do is get silent responses and affection that wasn't meant for him. No matter how hard Bae would try to hide it (if he even tried at all) it was clear how he was thinking of someone else. Why did he keep coming back to endure so much pain? It always ended with him crying his eyes out until he was filled with enough anger to last a day or two. Just stop this cycle. He should. He should just turn and go away. But he didn't. Maybe this was the day that Bae would see him instead of someone else. Maybe this was the day he could finally get his feelings returned. Maybe, just for once, he wouldn't be so miserable. And so he knocked on the door. As he did so, painful realization settled on the singer's shoulders like cold, heavy cement blocks. This wouldn't be the day. That day would never come. He wasn't that songwriter, and so he'd never be anything in Bae's eyes. Just a replacement. A blow-up doll that's barely enough to satisfy him. Despite that harsh truth, Kenshin still wanted to see him. He blissfully stayed in his land of ignorance and hoped endlessly that maybe, just maybe, he'd be the one seen.

Bae Bae stood upright at the sound of the door being knocked, and put his food into the fridge. He walked over, running a hand through his drying hair before opening the door. Surprise, then a level of contentness shined through those black eyes, and he set a hand on his bare hip as he braced himself against the doorframe. "I didn't know you were coming tonight," he said, dark eyes sparkling as they looked down on the male who was meant to be his rival, eyes speaking the volumes that his mouth wouldn't. "I thought that you were going to that play that Sang-Min's brother is starring in." Still, though, the dark-haired pop star moved out of the way to allow Kenshin in, striding over tot eh couch and picking up his shirt, then setting it down. Who was he kidding? They'd both be naked soon enough.

Kenshin Yamada A wall seemed to rise up between them at that moment. The sad, desperate look on the Japanese singer's face scrunched up into an uptight scoff of a frown. "I decided last minute to come here." he said matter-of-factly as he walked in, looking around. In truth, Ken came here as fast as he could as soon as he heard that Bae wasn't going. Sure, he would've loved to listen to a different genre of music and study the voice, but what would be the point without him? "Spending time here is better than listening to that weird play. What about you? You didn't go?"

Bae "I don't like Anthony," he shrugged, tossing the shirt carelessly onto a hamper in his room and walking over to the younger singer. He crossed his arms over his chest, looking down at the young Japanese that he spoke the most to. "Besides, I heard that Ryuu was going to be there, and I don't want to spend three hours feeling two holes being burned into the back of my head." He tilted his head, feeling a small smile come onto his usually stoic face. "Admit it, you missed me."

Kenshin Yamada "Everyone in the bands have their rivals. I don't know why Ryuu picked you, though." he murmured as he gave it thought. Yaso liked to target Eun-Ho a lot because of how gullible he could be, Kaoru battled Ellery songwriting-wise, Vinny fought Haneul through both foreign charm and bad boy persona (it was a losing battle for silent, timid Vinny), Kenshin and Lock butted heads often over who was the better leader over the better band, then there was Ryuu who, for some reason, had a strong dislike for Bae. Kenshin was rattled from his thoughts when he heard Bae, looking over at him with a defiant frown and a blush to match. "No way! Don't say stupid things, stupid!" he sneered and punched the man in the stomach, though he was sure his strength still wasn't up to par.

Bae The gentle giant shrugged, not really wanting to dwell on it. Ryuu's business was his own, and Bae didn't much think about it. He didn't really care what the other male thought, or what he said. All that mattered was that he knew when to leave the tall male alone, and that he didn't go after Ellery when he came by. It was bad enough that that evil detective was always all over him. He didn't want to shove away any more people. Catching the blush, Bae barely felt the punch, only smirking as he leaned down. "You're so cute when you lie to me, Kenshin," he cooed before leaning in to press his lips against that of the leader of the rival band's. They were just as soft as ever, he thought. He couldn't believe how much he'd actually missed kissing him.

Kenshin Yamada A vein pulsed at the side of the star's head. "I'm not cute!" he yelled, only to have his objections muffled by the kiss. He blushed brightly and hesitantly moved his hands to grip Bae's sturdy shoulders. Despite the fact that his feelings won't be returned, he couldn't help but love this feeling.

Bae The kiss was short, but filled with something strange, but exciting. BAe pulled away after a moment, then reached a hand down to lift up the smaller teen. "Yes, you are," he said, carrying Kenshin into the bedroom and gently setting him on the bed. Sitting beside him, he set his hands on either side of the Japanese pop star and leaned back down for another kiss, planting this one of the younger male's neck on one of the sweet-spots he'd had memorized by heart by now, his fingers deftly working to remove Kenshin's shirt.

Kenshin Yamada Kenshin grumpily looked up at Bae when he was laid on the bed, though his blush persisted. He moved his arms up to wrap around his neck when he leaned down and closed his eyes to return to the kiss. His body shifted when he felt his shirt being removed. With Bae's kisses moving lower, Kenshin let out a quiet moan and buried his fingers into the man's thick hair.
~~~
Kenshin laid on the bed sideways, his head resting on the palm of his hand as he stared at Bae's peaceful face. What did he see in that songwriter? What did Ellery have that he didn't? Why was he always in second place? Ken sighed through his nose. Well, whatever, he'd at least get Bae back for all the false hope he gave him. Reaching behind him slowly, Kenshin pulled out two triangles and a thin tube of super glue from beneath the bed. Under the moonlight, the triangles appeared to be cat ears, well detailed and very fluffy. Definitely Japanese merchandize.
~~~
Morning came and the singer was already dressed and ready to go. Months of doing this taught him how to be swift and silent. He pat down his suit and gave himself one last look at through the mirror before heading towards the doorway. He stopped for a moment to turn at look at Bae. The giant was slumbering peacefully, totally unaware of the black cat ears now protruding from his head. Those wouldn't come out for a while. An evil smirk spread across the Japanese man's face, then he turned and left.

Bae Just after Ken left, Bae sat up and groaned. His body ached more than he'd expected it to, and as he swung his legs over the side of the bed, he looked over to where he knew Ken wouldn't be sleeping. He sighed, accepting the expected rush of disappointment. Sometimes he wished that Kenshin would actually stay the night, but he never did. With a yawn, the man stood and walked over to the bathroom, preparing to wash his face, when he caught sight of two foreign ears on his head. He reached up to touch them, then clenched his fists and his jaw. "Son of a- KENSHIN!"

Kenshin Yamada Kenshin stood in front of Bae's door. How many times had he been in this position, waiting in suspenseful silence for something he was sure he'd regret later. Being the person he loved's replacement for the one he loved. Ken sighed and thought back to the events earlier today, the picture Bae proudly showed and stared at that featured him and that stupid manager, and the talk he had with his rival. An ultimatum. Today would change his life forever. Would Bae finally returned his feelings, or would Kenshin have to face the harsh truth? He wasn't sure he was ready for the latter. He wanted to stay in his painfully ignorant bliss and pretend like he could still have this, but he knew deep down that this had to be done. Taking a deep breath, the pop star lifted his hand and knocked on the door.

Bae "Ken?" Bae stood at the end of the hall, his keys dangling from one hand and a large paper bag in the other. He walked down the hall, long legs carrying him swiftly, and wrapped an arm around the teen's shoulders. "There you are!" He breathed, hugging Kenshin to his body. "I was worried about you. God, I'm so sorry I was being insensitive." He removed his arms from around the redhead to unlock his door, holding it open so that Kenshin could walk in first. "Where'd you run off to?" he asked.

Kenshin Yamada Ken froze when he heard that familiar deep voice down the hallway. He turned just in time to see Bae stride down and pull him into a hug. He wanted to melt into the embrace, bury his face into the man's shoulder, but stopped himself. Now wasn't the time to fall for that. The Japanese didn't hug back or even respond until the door was held open for him. He looked into the familiar apartment then looked away, his expression never changing from its grim demeanor. "It doesn't matter." he answered and took two steps inside. "We need to talk."
