The central square of town. This is where most big shops are located including the mall. It is always lit up and has music playing. There are screens that hang around the square to play shows and broadcast news.

It didn’t take him long to get to the City Square. This bright, bustling area was his favorite part of the city. It was always full of light and music and noise and life. In most places, he felt the need to apologize for his overabundance of energy, but not here. Here, people loved his exuberance, and he was rewarded with smiles, laughter, applause, and tips.

He glanced around the streets, smiling at the sleepy faces heading to work, sleepier faces heading home. There were a few performers dotted about, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed like himself. He waved at the ones he knew, smiled at those he didn’t but kept walking. He was heading to his favorite corner, a quaint little patch of concrete that he found was just level enough to safely perform his tricks and twirls, and just active enough for maximum exposure to his target audience. Which just happened to be anyone in the city willing to spare him a glance, or a moment of their time.

It didn’t take him long to set up his station, duffel bag up against the wall of the building behind him, wireless speaker blaring a quirky, abstract musical arrangement that honestly wouldn’t make much sense without his own acrobatic movements timed perfectly to each of its bumps, thumps, squeaks and squeals. Here was where he belonged. Pouring his heart and soul into the atmosphere, on a street corner in a city he could only barely call home, syncing his rhythm with the bassline of life itself, for everyone to see.

Yeah, maybe that third cup of coffee wasn’t a good idea. He was getting all existential and s**t.

Ketz had been, in short, sunbathing in the city in his favorite casual clothes, finding a mildly busy place in the sun and letting himself blend in to the background. Were he less careful, he definitely would have fallen asleep right on the spot, comfortable enough with his abilities that he wouldn't be seen. He really didn't expect his flat street corner to have someone coming to perform. He looked from where he was sitting, only moving his eyes to see what was happening. In the buzz around him he could hear a distinct beat, and someone dancing to it, perfectly in sync. They looked really cool, but without the music he just couldn't get the full experience. Ketz looked around and slowly made his way over, sitting next to the speaker while the guy was turned away and listening to the music. He could feel himself slipping into the background again while he listened to the music, most people perfectly unaware that he was there.

Ketz stayed mostly still and silent, watching the mesmerizing dance that this guy was doing, and finally able to hear the music that accompanied it. When the guy sort of faced him, he'd smile at him, something that probably wasn't enough to break his blend into the environment, but would make him more noticeable. But just watching got kinda boring. At the right moment, Ketz waved at him, breaking the blend and waiting for him to be noticed. If this didn't work, he might have to get a little loud.

“Well, that didn’t take long to get here.” Willa thought, standing on the side walk of Cleka City Square. As usual, the place was crowded. Hopefully, they wouldn’t stare too much with a bandage wrapped around her head as well as her left hand. Most people were heading to work. They wouldn’t even care at this point. Deeply, she inhaled the fresh outside air. It was good to get out. As much as she would love to spend the day here, she needed to gather supplies before…
Suddenly, a thought came to her mind.

“Oh sh**” She mumbled under her breath. Frantically, she searched around in her purse for her phone. “What if Aria comes to my apartment and I’m not there?” She thought to herself, pulling out her cell phone. “I’ll text her in case she does.” She stared at the screen. She couldn’t think of anything to say. Not a single word. Why is it this hard to tell someone that you went out? As she focused her attention on her phone, she happened to notice she went the wrong way.

“God dam***.” She sighed. How could she have missed it? Oh, right. It was because of her stupid phone. She soon walked around the corner of a building. Sometimes in this section there would be performers here. She might be lucky to see one, but then again this place was full of performers. After a few minutes with nothing, she finally knew what to say in the message.

“Good morning.
I assumed patrol went well. Anyways, I went out for supplies at the city square. Don’t worry. I’m fine. Mainly sore, but that’s normal. Once I’m done here, I shall return home to rest. I thought you liked to know should you visit my apartment. Sorry to text so early.
Willa”

“Simple enough.” She thought to herself. She reread her message before pressing the send button. Hopefully she received it. She continued to walk, staring down at her phone, looking at random stuff. For a moment, she wasn’t paying attention to where she was going. Without warning, her shoe lace had come undone as it caused her to trip over her own feet. This time, she managed to catch herself, but her phone wasn’t so lucky. As it crashed to the ground, pieces of it scattered everywhere on the ground.

“Oh no!” She yelled. Quickly, she got down on her knees. “Please don’t be broken.” She mumbled to herself as she started searching for all the pieces to her phone.

His body was good at remembering motions. He had practiced this routine so many times, it was as natural as breathing. Usually, he sank himself into the clarity that only music and movement could give him. He let his thoughts drain out of his mind, and focused on the moment.

But something was off. Through his blurred perspective of the world, he kept seeing flashes of… Well, he didn’t know what. But it wasn’t right. It wasn’t supposed to be there. He didn’t have the time to actually look though. This routine was fast and full of complicated tricks, and there were too many ways to get injured if he allowed a distraction to break in. He had been injured before, and it wasn’t good for business.

So he forced himself to ignore it. He could investigate later. It was probably nothing.

The biggest problem with this, of course, was by the end of his routine, he had fallen back into his own little world. The weird thing that had almost caught his attention was the furthest thing from him mind. This caused another big problem.

Most of his street numbers ended with some sort of flip, roll, or trick that landed him next to his speakers. It was a fluid way to transition into the next sequence, or to change the track according to how he was feeling. It had never been an issue. But this time, when he turned to front-flip back to his bag, there was a person sitting there, waving at him. His body, so confident in his movements that he barely needed to think to complete things, didn’t listen as his mind suddenly flared up in warning. His response time was late.

To keep from assaulting the person, possibly injuring them both, he had to end the flip early. Not being entirely prepared for that, his muscles suddenly tense, that wasn’t going to happen smoothly. The moment his feet touched the ground, he knew the balance wasn’t there. It was wrong. Too much weight on one foot. Before his bones could protest, before his joints could pop, or his muscles strain, he let himself fall. As long as he could land it right, he would get out of the encounter with a few scrapes and bruises, versus a sprained ankle or dislocated knee that kind of unstable landing could have caused.

He did, however, make a note to work on the noises that came out of him during moments like that. The loud, high-pitched squeak he let out as he plummeted towards the ground was damn near unholy.

’I hope no one important sees this.’

Ketz expected to be noticed, but he didn't really expect to startle the guy that much. Like, it was a street corner, so he figured that him popping up wasn't going to do that. Well, no, that's a lie. He'd expected it to scare him that much, but he didn't expect him to fall. He really didn't expect him to fall towards him. Ketz, knowing he was at fault for that, jumped out his sitting position and, well... Catching someone falling backward was easy, but catching someone falling forward was a little more complicated. Ketz managed to wrap his arm around the dancer's side, not completely stopping the descent, but following it to gently set him down. Lucky for Rayyan, Ketz couldn't hear the squeal over the music.

Ketz looked down at the guy he startled and smiled, one golden eye peeking through his hair, but not enough to show his face beyond the mop. "Hi!" He purred quietly, happy to definitely be getting attention. "Are you okay? Did I scare you?" He asked, his voice soft against everything. Thats how he always talked, though. Too loud or too soft, with very little volume control. "Speak up, I can't hear," he added, leaning down closer to the dancer so he could hear whatever he said. Shouting would be overkill, though. Ketz pointedly ignored how warm this dude was after dancing in the sun. Warm enough to curl up to if it also didn't mean he was probably really sweaty to go along with it. But maybe without the sweat he sounded like the best to be around. Another observation was that he was adorable. He looked just as spunky as his dancing was.

Rayyan’s body was braced for the impact. His mind was primed and ready to assess damage, and save face. He was already thinking of how he would apologize to the person he had almost collided with. He was prepared.

Except he wasn’t. Because the impact never came. When that finally registered in his panicked brain, he opened his eyes, only to be face to face with the very person he had been trying so hard to avoid. ’Did I hit him anyways?! Did I judge the distance wrong?!’ But a quick glance around told him that, no, it seemed the male had somehow moved.

’Did he… stop my fall?’

This was the moment when his senses really focused in on the brilliantly golden eye shining through the curtain of gorgeous, fluffy purple locks of hair. The quaint little smile. And then he heard the soft, pleasant voice.

“Uhhh-” he started, realizing that he had been asked a question, but then the male was getting closer, telling him to speak up, and he was dazed. He wasn’t entirely sure how to respond, at this point. Usually when people were this close to him, it wasn’t on a street corner in broad daylight. He cleared his throat, and tried his voice again, making sure to take his hint at speaking up, without screaming in his face.

“I think I’m okay, yeah. You startled me a bit, but I think you more than made up for that by catching me. I’m sorry I didn’t see you sooner, I must have been caught up in the music.”

It wasn’t exactly a lie. He had stopped himself from investigating whatever had been pulling his attention away. But now was not the time to worry over little details like that. Especially because he was suddenly very aware of the male’s arms still wrapped around him.

’I really am flypaper for odd, aren’t I?’ He shook his head a bit, and smiled up at his saviour.

“Thank you, seriously. I owe you one.”

Once it was affirmed that yes, the dancer was okay and apparently feeling good enough to feel dazzled by his presence, Ketz let him go. He made sure to leave a lingering hand to help him keep steady, but there was no point in sticking close if he already had his attention now. "Oh sorry, than. Didn't mean to scare," he said a little too loudly. "Don't worry about it I have a habit of blending into my surroundings." His smile said that that comment was supposed to be suggestive of something, like a pun or a joke, but his body language didn't give anything away. Ketz waved his hand dismissively in the air at the dancer's gratitude. "Oh it's no problem, really. I couldn't just let you fall," he joked, voice still edging on too loud. Which, in all truthfulness, that statement was pretty literal. It was half a habit from his past life, and half because he felt bad because he knew he'd done that. He really thought they would have seen him before he waved, though.

"So, you can keep dancing, right?" Ketz asked, pacing from where he was standing to a little way away, hands innocuously behind his back. "Cause your dancing was really cool," he complemented, hinting that the dancer should definitely start dancing again. Even better when he could hear more than just the baseline of the song. "Do you come here a lot?" He got up in the Dancers face again, casually looking at his features. "Because I feel like I would have recognized you if you did." Ketz's voice got softer again, hitting a more normal volume to be talking in. After a moment he pulled away and shrugged.

Just as soon as he started to feel comfortable with the contact the other male was giving him, he was pulling away. It seemed as though the further away he got, the louder his voice became. Was that an issue with not being able to hear? Did his mind just assume no one else could hear either?

“Honestly, I’m surprised you managed to scare me. How I missed that gorgeous head of hair is beyond me. Maybe I need glasses.” he said, grinning a bit. Yes, he was flirting. Usually, he was pretty good at it. But he had only seen one of the man’s eyes for barely a moment, his hair was fluffy and amazing but you could only drone on about it for so long, and sure he could be cliche and talk about his saving him some more, or how strong his arms had felt, but honestly? He was interested, not desperate.

But the entire situation was just weird. How he seemed to be pacing in and out of his personal space, his volume continuing to fluctuate, questioning him- ’Why does he keep moving?!’

“Sure, I can keep dancing, if you want~” he let himself trail a bit, trademark amorous grin still plastered on his face. But then another falter in his act, caused by the guy suddenly in his face again, asking about how often he came. But then he was gone, again and Rayyan honestly had never been so confused about someone’s intentions.

To distract himself, he walked back over to his speakers. “I used to come here a lot, to dance. But I left for awhile. I wanted to see the world. But I’m back now, so you’ll see me here a lot.”

He chose a song, and hit play, moving a few steps away. In the back of his head, he was praying to any god that would listen that the male stayed out of his way this time. Especially with how he’d been acting since the fall.

As his body began to move, falling back into the rhythm of the routines, he found himself returning his eyes to the strange male, instead of letting himself turn his focus inward. But he wasn’t sure it was nerves. Rayyan had met a lot of people in his life, but none had been so… Well, odd. Unique. And he wanted to know more. He wanted to unlock the mystery of those gold eyes.

So if dancing was what his saviour wanted, dancing is what he would get.

’I really need to figure out his name. And his number.’

Ketz flipped his bangs, causing the wavy purple locks to bounce to the side for a moment. What could be seen was one yellow-gold eye, a flash of mostly obscured, sculpted features, and if Rayyan managed to pay attention to what he was saying, Ketz replied with "It's all natural," he said. Ketz also had a very specific routine to keep it tame and looking as soft as it did, but that wasn't a super relevant detail. Ketz didn't bother explaining why he didn't stay still, or that when he said blend in, he really meant it.

He tilted his head in curiosity, face lighting up with another quaint smile. Ketz wondered where exactly this guy could have run off too, but honestly that didn't much matter since now he'd have a good chance of seeing him here again. "Well, personally I'm glad you came back! You make things much more lively around here," he said, taking a seat on the bench after the guy- who he really needed to learn his name -agreed to dance. He gave a little hum of delight, clapping his hands in delight.

As Rayyan danced, Ketz watched, mesmerized. Because he wanted to be able to see everything, he pushed his hair away from his eye, just enough to see. He kept still, not thinking about anything but watching the guy dance. He was really, really good. Unfortunately for Rayyan it meant that gradually, as the dance progressed and people walked behind him, it got more and more easy to forget Ketz was there. It wasn't like he disappeared in the blink of an eye, but more like if you looked away, it got harder to notice him, like when you're looking for something in the fridge and can't find it, even when it's right in front of your face. If he was standing in a crowd, people wouldn't not see he was there, but would walk around him as if he were a trash can, or lamp post. There, but almost completely ignored. To Rayyan, who would know he was there and focused on him, it'd most likely be that he would have a hard time putting the pieces together that he was a person, and not just a thing, and have to take a second to find him again.

When the dance was over, however, Ketz got up from his seat, let his hair fall back in his face again, and clapped for Rayyan. He quietly cheered, getting up close to him again, hands behind his back as he leaned in. "That was great! You're incredible at dancing," he complemented, too loud from his own excitement. Making the final decision to actually befriend this guy, Ketz made a move. "If I'm gonna be hanging around here more I should probably learn your name, right?" he asked, goading the guy on to start the introduction process.

Rayyan had always been pretty sharp. Living on the streets would do that to a person. So, he was very proud of his ability to stay aware of his surroundings, as well as his ability to block them out.

But as his attention continued to drift to the purple-haired enigma, and it somehow got harder to remember what he was looking at, as he had to send his body into serious autopilot to allow his mind to think about why he had chosen this song, that he was dancing for a specific person....

There were people in this world that weren’t human like him. They had strange abilities, and crazy good senses. All kinds of species roamed these cities, and he had ran into quite a few different ones during his travels. Most blended in pretty well, and could pass as human, until need arose to show their true nature. Given the oddities that his saviour brought into the situation, Rayyan couldn’t help but wonder if he was one of these other species.

The song ended, and his body stopped its movement by instinct. It took him a full beat to realize the music was no longer there. He was too busy staring at the male, trying to figure out why he felt like he was suddenly missing half the pieces of reality. But then everything snapped back into place, and he was confused as to how he had missed the bright purple hair. Again. His saviour was clapping, and complimenting him, and getting up in his personal space again.

’I wanna touch him…’ he thought, and it took all his energy to keep from reaching out to lay fingers on what he was sure was a very handsome face under all that hair. It was another odd reaction, because he very rarely felt the urge to get physical with anyone, without good reason.

’Focus, Rayyan! He’s talking to you!’

He smiled, and tilted his head, trying to make up for what was probably a glassy eyed stare by looking as cute as possible. ”My name is Rayyan. Rayyan Ryder.” He returned the other’s gesture by sliding his hands into his own back pockets, and leaned in just a bit more, closing the already miniscule distance between them. He hoped the guy didn’t take it as mocking, but if he didn’t do something with his hands, they weren’t going to listen much longer. ”And what should I call you~?”

Ketz didn't miss the stare that Rayyan was giving him. He was definitely lost in something, but Ketz really couldn't say what. With his hear tilted toward the guy, he listened to what he said, really noting that he had this guy's attention. That was something he always liked, having someone's full attention. Of course once he had it, though he didn't need to stay this close. It was just fun to tease. Slowly, Ketz leaned back, a coy smile on his face. "Ketz Roher, at your service, He said, folding one hand behind his back and placing the other over his chest in a small bow. Greeting someone formally was a habit he would never be able to break, no matter what. Same with standing formally. He stood up straight from the bow a moment later and folded his hands neatly behind his back. He took a beat to take a breath before saying "You know, you must be tired from all that dancing. Why don't we get some lunch? Or bubble tea. Ketz loved pretty much anything made with milk or cream, so he doubly loved bubble tea. Without waiting for any indication of a yes or no, Ketz added, "I know a really good place." He raised his eyebrows at Rayyan, but knew that he couldn't see anything but the suggestive smile on his face.

Unless you don't like bubble tea, he added. A crime to even think someone might not enjoy it's magic, but there were people. People who also probably steal from babies and commit other petty crimes. The fact that Ketz himself commited lots of petty crimes for a while would remain unmentioned in this example.

’Ketz… Interesting name. But it suits him. Just as eccentric as he is.’ Watching his bow, suddenly so formal, he felt a slight blush bloom onto his face. He really couldn’t figure this guy out. At all. He knew that that confusion, that challenge was part of why he was so wrapped up in the male.

He realized a moment later that he was staring again, and that Ketz was speaking. Thrown off again by his saviour. “I love bubble tea. It’s been awhile since I’ve had any worth drinking, actually.” his gaze lingered on the little smile visible beneath the curtain of hair.

He really shouldn’t. There were things he had planned today. His dance class would be starting up soon, and he had told one of the girls he would go with her to an audition later. He had to go grocery shopping, and his apartment really needed a good clean. He had been putting that off, boxes still piled into corners, only half un-packed. So technically, his day was planned. He had a schedule.

But as usual, his stomach, and the newest shiny thing that grabbed his attention took precedent. The fact that the shiny thing was actually a person meant nothing. His stomach growled out loud, and he blinked, glancing down at it, before laughing. “Food would probably be a good idea too. It’s been awhile since breakfast.”

Honestly, he was surprised. Usually his stomach was protesting much sooner than this. For as compact as he was, he ate enough to feed a village. His body was a bottomless pit, probably because of the insane amounts of energy he put into everything he did.

Carefully, he turned, sliding his hands from his back pockets to begin packing up his belongings. He still wasn’t sure they would behave themselves, but he needed them to carry the bag, so he would have to trust his self-control, at least for a few minutes.

“Let me pack up, and we can be on our way, kay~?”

Ketz raised his eyebrows out of habit. Being expressive was something that had pretty much been hammered into him. That wasn't the topic at hand, though. Ketz gave Rayyan a puzzled look. He knew places were sometimes sub-par but honestly he'd settle for sub-par. He had his favorite flavors of course. Lavender Chair was a gift from the gods, and sometimes it was a cute purple color. "Food and a drink? What a treat~ Just nothing too fancy," he cooed, and actually meant that very seriously. He came out to get some sun and people-watch, not spend money. Plus he always had to "we have food at home" himself.

"Take your time," but actually hurry up. Ketz was one of those people that meandered when they got to their destination, but walked there fast without stopping. When he had a destination, at least. If he didn't have one then he just meandered like he didn't have a care in the world. A lie, since he had a lot of cares for a lot of things. "The place is called Liquid State. They also have coffee. It's kinda hipster, and usually busy so we can enjoy our drinks on the go if you want," he offered, mostly because Ketz was used to eating on the go and usually didn't like to sit down places. Not cause he didn't like to, but conversations always felt a tad bit restrained.

He waited until Rayyan was finished before he pointed the direction they needed to go in, and also hinted suggestively about knowing a shortcut. The suggestiveness was to point out the shortcut was bizarre.

“Fancy? Naw. Today isn’t a day for fancy. It’s too nice outside.” If he was being honest, his version of fancy was probably way off from most people’s. Any food he didn’t have to cook himself, or wasn’t bought with a handful of change from a truck or a stand was fancy. But he tried very hard not to let people in on how much he struggled. His reputation was his career, after all. And no one liked starving artists, as backwards as that was.

Once everything was shoved back into his duffel bag, and the thing was forced closed, he bounced back to Ketz, smiling wide. “Well, I’m up for just about anything.” he said, keeping his hands wrapped tightly around the strap to his bag. It baffled him, honestly, how badly he wanted to reach up and touch the male’s face, push the hair out of the way, or even just run his fingers through the hair in general. The mystery there must have been what was messing him up, but that was no excuse. If he expected people to respect his personal space, he had to respect theirs. Not that many people actually did respect him, or his personal space, but that wasn’t the point.

“It’s an awesome day for an adventure,” he grinned, and his eyes sparkled, honey and gold shimmering in the sunlight. “Lead the way, Mr. Handsome.”
