I decided recently to put more time and effort into my artwork, since it didn't feel like I was exerting myself or really trying at all at times. It might take a while to have a decent amount of images collected here, but it'll fill up quickly enough so long as I keep working.
Critiques are welcome! I'm still not happy with my work so critiques would really help. I know I need to try using backgrounds and more dynamic poses, so rather than pointing that out, advice as to how I could go about it or other points to improve would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Full size images are on my deviantART if you need a better look.

Hehe that first one - I love it. It's polished and crisp and just looks really nice and 'done'.

The sketchy one is pretty cool too - I love how 'raw' it is and how you've really pushed the lighting caused by Lucario's attack.

If you're having issues with dynamic poses and such perhaps try compiling a resource folder of poses you find interesting? They can be from stock images, anime, tv shows, movies, games - just find poses that really catch your eye and examine them, see what makes them work and WHY you like them. Then, when you're working on a pic you might recall one of those poses and try it out, using it as a reference.

Another thing to try is changing the angle of the drawing. If it looks too boring or bland straight on, try 'tilting' the camera view so they go diagonally across the page maybe. Instead of drawing them face forward, maybe do a 3/4 view. Play with perspective - if they are holding something out maybe take the angle so that the item is biggest and the character recedes behind it.

Interesting things to look for in composition can be found when you research why animators use certain angles etc to portray emotion and can be quite fun to play around with smile
