Alth'Indor's CG Gallery Because you can never have too much art!
This gallery is best viewed in browsers that use the Trident rendering engine.
Quote: When the banners in post No.3 are in a five-wide configuration, you need a minimum horizontal screen resolution of 1366 pixels to view them without the format degrading. If your screen width is 1280 pixels, you can apply the CSS hack in post No.6, "Extras," to achieve the same effect. Welcome:After seeing Puufbaal's comment in the Chatterbox regarding a gallery thread, and thinking that that was a pretty cool idea, I made one of my own. โฅIf you came here through the link in my signature, looking for samples:
โ You don't need to read anything, just look at the pretty colors. โ Works are โ for the most part โ posted in reverse chronological order. โ I don't have any profile samples here. Sorry. โ All prices are: 5B large, 4B medium, 2B small. Copyright Information:Any art that I post in here becomes available automatically to contributing members of this guild under the Creative Commons Attribution + Non-Commercial + Share-Alike (BY-NC-SA) license, unless stated otherwise. This means that you can freely share most of what you see in here, as long as you give me credit. You can also modify and use my art in your own, as long as you share it with the same license (and don't sell it). If I sell you art, this is the license that it will come under. I am open to negotiating different terms. Fair Use or other provisions may grant rights that are restricted by these licenses.

Icons & Tiles Decorations, logos, linkers, and signatures. If you ever wanted to know how I got into making art (you don't, but I'm going to tell you anyway), this little icon to the left is your answer. I used to play Ragnarok Online back in the day and made this logo for my guild. It's not the one that plugs into the game, which was required to have a 1:1 aspect ratio, and an #FF00FF background because it didn't support GIF or PNG transparency. Now, I don't normally hawk politics on people who are completely not expecting it โ especially given the context โ but this merits a bit of explanation. This icon is totally a political logo, and it belongs to an organization called the Pirate Party. Yes, this is a thing. There are currently forty-two countries with Pirate Parties, rallied under an international NGO called Pirate Parties International; they all use some variation of the flag-in-a-circle logo, though the colors vary from country to country. "Pirate parties support civil rights, direct democracy and participation in government, reform of copyright and patent law, free sharing of knowledge (open content), information privacy, transparency, freedom of information, anti-corruption and network neutrality." [1] YOU JUST LEARNED THAT! [2] Consequently, this icon is completely free. Take it, use it, do whatever you want with it.
So, with that little bit of exposition out of the way, here are some of the other icons that I've made over the years. Here are two smaller ones that didn't fit into any of the other categories. The one on the left is supposed to be the overhead plan for a racetrack. The one on the right is a guild logo that's been sized down to fit next to it; you can faintly see my username stamped in the corner, but it's blurry. The original is an SVG file which would scale perfectly, but Photobucket doesn't host SVGs. (In fact, I don't know of any image host that allows SVGs. If you do, post it!)
These two sets of linking banners are some of the more recent works that I've made. The first set is for a . . . well . . . actually, I don't know what "Dreaming Hearts" is, but I do know that both art shops and quest threads usually use these size linking banners, so those are highly likely possibilities. The second set I did for free for a very old racing roleplay that I was in โ as team logos. If I had the chance to do them over again, I would change the font in the second one, because it does appear to be difficult to read unless you already know what it says. It also increases the vertical size of the logo, pushing it out of line with the other two, because the letters are much taller. The names and slogans were provided by the team leaders, and I just threw them together with some colors. If you correctly guess where I "borrowed" the colors and associated styles from, your post gets a tip!
This is a sampling from a set of eight icons that I made for my guild, Axis|Mundi. Some of the actors in the foregrounds of these tiles came from drawings on Wikimedia Commons, which allows this sort of reuse and remix. The backgrounds were made by me, though. I originally wanted to make each one a different color, but they ended up looking kind of stupid, so I standardized them on the main color of the roleplay. Not that I'm a hundred percent about blue, mind you. I might change the main color to purple, which makes way more sense in context. They're padded by a few pixels on the right to be used as leaders in codex entries without cramping up the text.The icons in this sampling are all quite old; we're looking at least six years old for the newest of them. How this block all ended up being circular . . . well, it looked good. (Except for maybe that last one, which isn't quite tall enough for the row. I just sort of shoehorned it in there because I needed a sixth one and it's close enough, especially if you're just glancing over it.) The two "embroidered" ones were made for friends, and unfortunately they look kind of awful at display size because the originals are many times larger. The text on the first one is written in Theban, and it's translatable into English if you feel like looking it up.

Guild Banners 200x40 banners for the guild registry. This list is sorted chronologically, with the newest one first. It's ordered like normal text: read them from left to right and then go to the next line. The order isn't particularly important in this case, though, since I find the styles to be all over the place. There isn't a distinct evolution or progression like you can see in some of my larger works. I'm not even sure which one is my favorite, though I can definitely tell you which one is my least. It's that weird GIF, which came out exactly the way it was asked for. They were super happy with it. Seriously though, look at that thing.
Most of these were commissioned pieces. They sold for about 10-20K back in the day . . . the oldest one might have gone for 5K. It's crazy how times have changed. I mean, I have no idea what these would be worth now โ I made my newest one for free. (UPDATE: 2B. These go for 2B.) Also, attribution is not required for guild banners: you do not have to include a credit line with one of these.
Looking at all of these assembled together, I wonder if any of the guilds they belong to still exist.

Thread Runners Large banners meant to be headers. This section is going to make heavy use of the spoiler tag, because it would be too large and unwieldy without it. Prepare yourself for clicking!
Now, here's something new from me. A much larger GIF, both in file size and canvas dimensions. The background is mine, but the model comes courtesy of the Blue Planet team (Thanks for being awesome, you guys!), and although I couldn't find the actual specific Karuna credits, probably Steve-O; Esarai; and Aesaar. Now, I'm not a hundred percent sure that I'm okay using it like this, but I'm going by this thread here, so it should be alright. Now go play Freespace: it's an absolutely amazing game made even more amazing by the teams of dedicated, hard-working volunteers over at HLP. Also, funny story about this banner, it was what got me to actually read the GIF format specification due to timing issues . . . you can read that thread in the main forum.
This is the main banner for my guild, Axis|Mundi. Although I don't really think that it's particularly visually impressive compared to some of my other ones, this is my premier, most cherished banner. (It might be all of the work that I put into the guild overall which makes me feel that way about it.) It was my first attempt at a truly "borderless" design, but it still feels grounded and as though it has a border, which is very nice. The banner right below it is the most recent thread runner that I made, for which I borrowed some of Axis|Mundi's design. You can see it pretty clearly with the shape of the background.
This is a new one! I made this just last week, actually. It was another foray into the "borderless style," like the Axis|Mundi banner. There are three slight variations, generated over the course of finding the one that I liked most. When something like this happens, I don't usually charge extra for it, so these three sold for two billion.
Here's another roleplaying banner. I made it in two versions: dark and light. The light one just . . . couldn't hold a candle to the dark one, so it never . . . saw the light of day. (I am so sorry for making those jokes.) The other two are completely unrelated, they just share the style. Neither of the latter two were ever used, because that roleplay was renamed and became Axis|Mundi โ and we got that banner up there out of it instead. Fancy that.
Here's another roleplaying banner that never got used. (Can you detect a pattern here?) The background is actually a 3D render. The border on this one got kind of messed up when I sized it down, and I don't particularly feel like fixing it. Try to discount that black line around the edge, it's not supposed to be there. I covet this banner, so it isn't available under the CC license. Also, if you're wondering why I resized a thread runner . . . so am I. I legitimately don't remember why I made it smaller; it started out perfectly fine. Maybe I'll upload the original.
This one is an oldie but goodie, and it actually did get used! It was the first banner where I made a nebula, and I'm still using the same technique to make new ones. You can see a few other nebulae in a couple of the 200x40 guild banners, and there's a full-sized one in the next post.
These two are part of the set of three that I made for a guild called Midnight Writers, with the third being the 200x40 guild banner in the post above. The former of these two was an attempt to make a hybrid of the larger one and the registry banner, and it's uh . . . not very good. What it is is fairly old: the date stamp on the file tells me that it's from mid-2009, not that that excuses how bad it is, considering how well I think the other two turned out.
Here is a style I called "glass," the reason for which should be fairly obvious. The last one in the row is the style template, which I originally made to generate headers for announcements in one of the guilds that I vice-captained. I used this style and some derivatives in a number of banners, but these are the only ones I could find. I might have scrapped the rest for being awful, and the only place they probably live now is in an old archive or backup.
Two more banners for old, long-dead roleplays. They were two sides to the same coin, so to speak. This particular one might have taken place in or been related to a guild, I don't remember. I still rather like the style and colors of the first one. The second one, not so much.-โฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโ Introduction โ Icons โ Guild Banners โ Thread Runners โ Miscellaneous โ Extras โ Comments Open

Extras Just some other stuff.
/* Guild Threads */ body.guilds #post_container .user_avatar {bottom: 2px} body.guilds #post_container .user_avatar img {position: relative; top: 4px} body.guilds #post_container .forum_userstatus {margin-top: -10px !important} body.guilds #post_container .postBar {right: 38px !important} body.guilds #post_container .postRight .buttonBar {margin-left: 35px !important} body.guilds #post_container .postRight + td .user_avatar {left: 38px !important}
/* Guild Posts */ body.guilds #post_container .compoundSimplePost {display: block; width: calc(100% + 77px) !important; padding: 0px !important; position: relative !important} body.guilds #post_container .compoundSimplePost .postbody {text-align: justify !important} body.guilds #post_container .postLeft {right: 40px !important} body.guilds #post_container .postRight {right: 35px !important}
This is the code to make posts in guild threads slightly wider. It will prevent the post with 200x40 guild banners from collapsing into four lines on screens that are only 1280 pixels wide. It could also cause a horizontal scroll bar to appear on the page, because it's just a snippet from a much larger sheet that applies a bunch of other styles, including one that blocks page overflow. To apply it in Internet Explorer [IE10+]:XXXXXXโ Copy this code into notepad, and save it anywhere you want as "gaia.css."XXXXXXโ Open your Internet Options, and in the "Appearance" section, click the "Accessibility" button.XXXXXXโ In the "User Style Sheets" section, click browse and select your gaia.css. Then make sure the checkbox is checked.XXXXXXโ Click okay and exit the options. You should see the changes take effect right away.If you use Firefox or Chrome, you would need an add-on called Stylish. Stylish is cool for a whole bunch of reasons, but I know that you aren't interested in installing stuff for this dinky little thing. And as far as add-ons for Gaia go, I would point you to Better Gaia instead.-โฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโ Introduction โ Icons โ Guild Banners โ Thread Runners โ Miscellaneous โ Extras โ Comments Open

Thread Open You may now post your comments. And look at that, perfect two-minute post intervals! Let me know if the thumbnail links don't work. My albums are set to private, but they should still allow you to view images when you have the direct link. If you've actually made it this far, have some free stuff! This is the rest of the style sheet that I use on Gaia, along with the requisite images. Pick and choose your sections! (Most of you will probably want to view embedded YouTube videos and see the Gaia Cash tier events. You'll need to remove parts of the sheet for that.)-โฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโฏโ Introduction โ Icons โ Guild Banners โ Thread Runners โ Miscellaneous โ Extras โ Comments Open

I'm not sure I could do it justice! I do sell them, but I'm too ... all over the place to be able to run a shop. xD I just browse buying/commission threads every once in a while when I get bored.

Oh man these are really nice. I've tried to make banners/ graphics like that in the past but I didn't take to it too well. Fonts are an art all on their own. I was actually thinking that too, a guild banner in this style would be really cool. (If you're willing) xd

I was actually thinking that too, a guild banner in this style would be really cool. (If you're willing) xd Thanks! These are the results of a lot of trial, error, and abject failure since I got into making banners years ago. If I showed you some of the stuff I still have floating around from when I started.... xD Re: a guild banner, I think the problem I'm having is that I just don't know how to start this one. For some reason I'm coming come up blank on a great background that plays on the name and the theme here. It just feels so nebulous - kind of hard to pin down. It's a general art guild, and I don't have the benefit of an "easy" name like I did with Midnight Writers. What would you go for, if you were to suggest something? Canvas, paper, paint brush & palette ... er. Uh, well then. Rubber duck debugging!ยน Hey though, suggestions would still be amazing! 3nodding As for fonts, man, just ... just fonts. I have something close to 1000 of them installed and still find myself thinking: "Nope, no good fonts in here, time to go hunting!" 1: http://blog.codinghorror.com/rubber-duck-problem-solving/
