Ｙｏｕｋａｉ Ｍｏｕｎｔａｉｎ
Standing tall and resplendent in a prominent position on the fields of Gensokyo, the Youkai Mountain is a great peak half a kilometer high. Its base, forest coverings, rivers, and even peak are home to multitudes of youkai. The foot of the mountain is inhabited by an copious amount of youkai, fairies and minor gods and goddesses. The Ibaraki Dojo is located here. Further along the mountain is the mountainside exists the Tengu Outpost - home to all of the mountain's tengu. Here they make their homes, and serve Lord Tenma. However, the territorial tengu do not take kindly to intruders on the mountain. At the peak of the mountain, overlooking a grand waterfall, is the Moriya Shrine of the goddesses Kanako Yasaka and Suwako Moriya. They are well-respected by the entire mountain and have a large influence on the youkai there. The journey to the mountain's top is not an easy one - the native youkai can be hostile, and without flight it is a strenuous walk. The entrance to the Ancient City, an subterranean tunnel, can be found at the mountain's base.
