Two years after Edmund & Delarosa Darklore were killed in a construction accident, everything went to Edmund's brother Cole and his family, including Darklore Mansion. The family consisted of Cole Darklore, Dreda Darklore, and their son Goodwin. They were a happy, rather rich family, who didn't really care about Goodwin's choices in clothing, which was mostly dresses he had bought off his friends. Their child was different, but they loved him. Three years after moving into the mansion, they were killed by Goodwin, who was playing with fire in bed with his parents, which set the sheets on fire and burnt them all to a crisp. Due to the black magic already on the ground, the spirits did not rest. Goodwin was the first of the ghosts to appear in the house.

Goodwin was unlike the rest that would have followed. He was regretting what he had accidentally done, and sadly, after death, he hadn't remembered why he was regretting. He wanted people to come in, to notice him, and for him to feed off them enough to become physical. Over the years, more deaths occurred, and two more ghosts had joined him. They did not talk to each other, and they weren't trying to kill anyone. Belladona was just trying to warn people not to live there, Henry (The shadow man) was just content to be there. And Goodwin, wanted people to come in, which didn't quite work. The ghosts could not help Goodwin when he had selflessly buried all that were killed on the site. He mourned for these humans, and his own cursed existence. The home was burnt down in 1971, though it left the ash and what seemed to be the burnt down remnants of the mansion, though it was actually moving, due to Goodwin's guilt and will. The building, its objects, and occupants moved randomly throughout the United States and Europe, always resting in a forest, always a ways from civilization, but always in a place where it could be stumbled upon. When they left, though, the building left the exact same burnt building where it was. To this day, there are 5 in the US and 3 in Europe. Goodwin was searching for something, but what, he hadn't known.
