Kail was on a mission today. Wrapped up snugly in a thick sweater that trailed over his arms in a way comfortingly reminiscent of another outfit he wore regularly (a negaverse outfit, to be specific) and with a pair of nice-feeling corduroys on, the teenager was on a plan to visit a bookstore. A specific bookstore, to be exact. Bookwyrm. After looking online, he'd discovered the place had in stock an obscure medical textbook on infectious diseases he'd been looking for for some time. It was going to be expensive, but last weekend Kail had been on a visit with his mother - so his wallet was distinctly fatter than usual. It would still make a sizeable dent - textbooks weren't cheap, even secondhand - but he would have some money left over.
Assuming of course, he didn't buy other books. Kail's father had limited the money in his son's wallet for this reason. He already knew that (even if Kail didn't) almost the entirety of the money in there would go on books - it happened every time. For a logical person, Kail hadn't yet noticed the pattern in this instance, probably because each time he said he wasn't going to...and then did.
Still, going in public made him nervous, so by the time he entered the bookshop, bell over the door jingling merrily, there was a slight wide-eyed panic about him, and his fingers were clenched white on his bag strap.
