She wasn't too happy with the idea of a new friend, but to make her father happy she kept the egg close and nurtured it until it hatched. It was a little sea dragon with cute red eyes and a yellow belly, a Horsea. Looking into its eyes made her fall in love with it immediately and she decided to be strong from then on so she wouldn't lose anyone else she loved. To make herself stronger she did the first major thing she had ever done: ran away from home. She ran away to go to Kanto in order to become a protector of these mysterious gems everyone's been talking about, but she knew her parents would never allow it.
When she arrived in Kanto she was surprised to find that her father knew of her plans to leave and accepted her decision to do so. He warned her the gems were mysterious and powerful and told her to be careful, not knowing what they could do to not only her pokemon but herself as well.
