- For people that have never met her Mosi can be a bit of a handful at first. Growing up with siblings and people who were out in the wild most of the time Mosi can be a little rough, or rather a lot rough. She has no problem pushing people around, and isn't aware of how rough she can be at times. Back home she could push her siblings with all of might and nothing would happen, so it might take her a little time to realize that everyone isn't quite as strong as her siblings. She's also rough in her actions. If you say something stupid she's going to look at you like you're stupid, doesn't expect Mosi to sugar coat anything. Ever. You think she's judging you? Well she most certainly is. If you don't want to be judge you shouldn't do something so stupid. She'll share her judgement to, as to her it's right. Once she's deemed a person stupid it's hard for her to get her to change her mind also, she's very stubborn. Once her mind is made up it takes a lot for her to change it.
If there is one thing that will make Mosi love someone, it's if they respect animals. Due to her upbringing Most is an animal lover, and the kind of person who loves to educate others on animals. You want to know why she is a vegan and how to become one? Well Mosi's your girl, since she thinks that everyone should be one. After all, humans are natural herbivorous and it isn't fair to the animals to kill them off. This is also something that will make Mosi hate someone. She understands that people eat meat, that alone won't change her opinion on people, but when people blatantly disrespect animals that she has a problem. Like people who hunt just to put an animals skin/body on display and don't even eat the animal. She will debate animal rights at great lengths, normally not giving up no matter what.
Something else she's learned from her upbringing is that if you aren't willing to put in the work than don't expect results. Because of this Mosi will normally be the one working the hardest in any group setting or even alone. She knows that nothing wonderful happens to lazy people and is willing to put in the work to get what she wants. She is also pretty cheerful when doing her work, frequently singing or whistling to make working more joyful. Despite her more negative traits Mosi is a happy child over all.
Already Mosi has had her share of adventures, and coming to camp is just another one to add to her list. If anyone needs a partner for an exciting adventure, and can put up with her, than they will find a more than willing one in her.
Hobbies:
Wrestling - Although she doesn't do it as a sport, wrestling is something that Mosi thoroughly enjoys. She's use to doing it at home with her brother's and sisters, and the children of occasional visitors or volunteers at the preserve.
Photography - Her parents met through photography, and her father passed on his passion of it to her. Although she mainly takes animal and scenery pictures she sometimes takes pictures of people or objects that she finds particularly attractive.
Saving Animals - For the most part animals have been Mosi's whole life. Even as a child she would sometimes go with her animals to pick up animals that were rescued, and there were always a few abandoned babies or hurt animals in the house. If she sees any animal hurt Mosi will do anything and everything in her power to get it back on it's feet again. This includes even bugs and smaller creatures. Every creature deserves a chance, no matter how small.
History:
Working for National Geographic meant that Sahale Green got to travel a lot, and although he loved every place he went to his trip to Africa when he was twenty-three to take pictures of the Shamwari nature preserve is his all time favorite. He was sent there to take pictures, and was shown around by the daughter of the owner of the preserve. Her name was Ramila Wood and right away they hit it off. They both loved animals, and Ramila loved Sahale's photography and they way he was able to capture the animals essence in them. Although he was only there for two weeks the two of them kept in touch over the years. What started as a long distance friendship slowly became a long distance relationship, with Sahale staying at the preserve whenever he had time. At four years later Ramila's father passed away, and the preserve was left in her hands. Only six months later Sahale quit his job and moved to Africa to be with Ramila and help her take care of the preserve. Only a year later Kuruk was born, the couple deciding to merge their names for their sons last name as well as any children they had in the future. Two years later Ahawi was born, followed by Mosi two years after her and than Onacona four years later. He was an accident, but a happy one.
Growing up at the nature preserve meant that everyone pulled their own weight. As soon as the children were old enough they were given small chores, such as feeding the animals that were sick and cleaning after the ones that lived in the house. All four of the children were taught that hard work always brings rewards and to them working is just a part of life. The siblings were close in age, and although they fought like normal siblings they all got along fairly well. There was always something going on in the Greenwood world.
Because they lived so far from what most consider 'normal' civilization all of the Greenwood children were home schooled along with the children of the every day volunteers. Although they learned the basics that every child needed to know, a lot of their schooling was more hands on with the animals. How to tell when an animal is scared, hurt, hungry and other things was just one of many lessons taught by Sahale Green. He made sure that the children knew enough to take over the preserve if ever needed, but that they would also be able to function out in the world if they didn't want to stay at the preserve.
Mosi was five when her father gave her her first camera, and it was instant love. Both of her old siblings got a simple camera at five as well, but Mosi was the first of the three to really use it for more than a few days. As time passed she was given a more professional camera, and some of her pictures were even sold to nature magazines along with being displayed all over her home. Taking pictures of animals was almost as satisfying to Mosi as taking care of them was.
Mosi was seven when it first happened to her. A orphaned serval named Okapi had just been brought to the preserve and Mosi was trying to soothe her when all of a sudden the scared animal seemed to calm a bit, and Mosi just knew she was hungry although she still only showed signs of fear. Bringing Okapi some milk, even though her mother insisted that the serval wouldn't drink any, she was surprised to have Okapi drink it all. This knowing of what animals seemed to be thinking kept happening, and not only with Okapi. It was wonderful! When she was sure that it wasn't just a coincidence and that something was actually happening she shared the news with her family. Her mother was please, telling the family that it was a gift she had also possessed since she was a young girl. And so the training began.
Although Ramila had never been officially trained on her ablity she had it her whole life, and knew a few tricks to teach Mosi. After a year she had taught her daughter all she knew, but Mosi wanted more. She wanted to know more about her ability and if there were others like it. So she started doing research and eventually came across Murmuring Pines Summer Camp. Although hesitant to leave her animals, and her lifestyle, behind Mosi sees this as an adventure and with her parents permission is off to America for the first time.
