 Tony paced around the DJ booth of the club, tapping the headphones around his neck in a rhythm matching the music playing loudly in the background. He felt lost. Confused. Leo finally seemed to have gotten used to the fact that Tony had marked him as his mate. The redhead didn't seem to be freaking out as much, nor running away every time Tony kissed him or told him he loved him. But where did he go from here? How could he get the lion to understand that Tony would never hurt him? To get the other comfortable enough....

Leonardo slipped into the club that Tony worked and lived at. He looked around moving silently. He was still nervous around Tony and stuff but he was trying to get better. He felt awful that he couldn't be what Tony wanted. And he couldn't do all the things that Tony wanted. He was really trying but it was just so hard. He'd finally gotten used to the kisses but even that made him freak out some times. He slipped up behind Tony and wrapped his arms around him hugging tight.

At the embrace of the other, the tapping stopped, but Tony made no other movement. He didn’t want to ruin the moment of the other instigating contact by scaring him away. Of spooking by putting his hands on Leo’s or turning for a kiss. Instead he relished in the contact, a rumble forming deep in his chest. “Why hi there luv. How are you?”

Leonardo tilted his head as he heard the tapping stop. He looked at Tony and waited for the other to do something. He poured just a bit when Tony didn't move at all. Was the wolf mad at him? He didn't understand and continued to watch him and pout. He hugged tighter wanting affection. He flushed as Tony talked. What that sound continued from Tony? He was curious. "I'm ok. Did I do something to upset you? I'm sorry if I did. How are you?" He figured better to ask and make amends for whatever he had done.

Frowning, Tony turned around to cup Leo's cheek. "Upset me? No luv. I'm better now that you're here. Why would you think that?" He ran his thumb across his mate's cheek lovingly.

Leonardo held perfectly still as Tony turned. He looked up at him eyes wide. He pouted when he saw the frown. "I'm sorry." Leonardo held still as the hand cupped his cheek. He nuzzled into the hand and closed his eyes relaxing. He purred softly as he felt the stroking thumb. "Well you were just standing still. I thought maybe I'd upset you and you didn't want to touch me or be around me. And why are you better now that I'm here?" He was very curious about all this.

"I'm sorry if that made you think I was upset. I wasn't moving because I didn't want to startle you sweetie. You're still a little skittish around me that I wanted you to go at your own pace. I love it anytime you're beside me or hugging me; but I also don't want you to be frightened just because I moved in the embrace or go to kiss you." Tony smiled. "I'll never be upset at you for showing affection." He gently kissed Leo's cheek, dropping his hand. "Because I was so lonely, and worried about you."

Leonardo stared at Tony in shock. "Oh." He chewed on his lower lip. "I'm sorry you have to worry so much about all that stuff Tony. I wish you didn't have to think about anything like that. I'm so sorry you can't just do what you want because you're worried about how it'll effect me. I am trying to get better and not be so skittish or scared but at times it's a bit hard. But I have gotten a little better." He blushed scarlet as the guy kissed his cheek. He smiled slightly. "Never? Really?" He frowned and pouted dropping his head. "I'm sorry I've made you feel lonely and worried. Why were you worried? I'm here so you don't need to be lonely." He snuggled in close.

"Well I'm not sorry. You're worth the wait." Smiling, he petted Leo's hair. "Little steps you know? I'm happy anything you give me." His smile turned into a frown as Leo couldn't look at him. "Leo?" He placed a finger under the lion's chin to get the other to look at him. "I know it might seem irrational. You've got your friends and pack to protect you as well. I'm just afraid of what might happen to you luv." The rumble grew louder as Leo hugged him more.

Leonardo blushed scarlet when he heard that. He shook his head. "No I'm not." He purred as Tony pet him. It felt nice. "Why are you happy with almost nothing? Don't you want a mate you can kiss and stuff?" He blushed more and squirmed. He felt Tony push his chin up but he kept his eyes down on the floor. "Why are you scared? What are you scared of? It's not like anything bad'll happen to him." His eyes widened in shock at hearing the rumble. "Huh?"

"Yes you are." That was something else he needed to work with Leo about. Boosting the other's self-confidence so he wouldn't always talk bad about himself. How Tony wanted to kill the assholes that made Leo think and act the way he does about himself and affection. To just tear them into shreds bit by bit, making them beg and plead for mercy. To let them fear and dwell on their sins before he killed them.
He loved it when Leo purred. That sound....so musical to him. "I do yes. But a mate isn't only about physical attraction and contact. It's emotional, intellectual. I'd rather have a mate I'm happy with than a mate where it's based only on the physical and sexual." The wolf placed a kiss on Leo’s forehead. “I’m scared you’ll be taken from me luv. That someone will snatch you away, that I’d never see you again. That you’d get hurt.” A light, embarrassed flush formed on his cheeks. “Honestly, I’d love to keep you at my side 24/7. To always be able to see you, to know you’re okay. But the only way to do that would be to tie you to me or lock you up. I couldn’t do that. I couldn’t cage you in any form or fashion.” He tilted his head slightly, frowning at the shocked look on Leo’s face. “What is it?

Leonardo shook his head looking down and away. He didn't understand why Tony thought he was worth anything. He wasn't. He didn't matter and he wasn't sometjing special. He was just himself. A bit of a freak with eyes that would flow yellow when the lion took over. But that didn't make him special it just made him freaky. He frowned as Tony seemed to be getting worked up. He wasn't sure why that was happening. Had something happened to upset and anger Tony? But he didn't want to ask about it worried that would make Tony get set off even more. And that would be very bad. He chewed on his lower lip confused.
He sighed as Tony continued. The guy always said stuff like that when he brought up that. But he still felt so bad he couldn't do all that. Not without flipping out. And if he flipped out it would only make Tony upset and worried. And maybe even furious. He wasn't sure what to say anymore. He just felt bad. He blushed at the kiss on his forehead. How could that be enough for the wolf. He didn't think it was. But he didn't know how to give more and still be ok. It ate at him all the time. He frowned as he listened to the words. "Why are you so scared of all that?" He tilted his head and watched the blush. He froze in terror as Tony talked of caging him. No. No more cages. No. He thought Tony was different Tony was supposed to be different. He whimpered softly. Eyes starting to flow a faint yellow color. He didn't even hear the rest of that. Lost in his fear.

Tony frowned as he watched the change in Leo. "Luv?" The whimpering and the glowing eyes bothered him. Something was wrong. Mentally cursing himself, Tony wrapped his arms around Leo tightly in a hug. "Shh Leo. No cages. There will never be cages here. I promise."

Leonardo continued to whimper his eyes still containing the faint yellow glow. He shook slightly as he tried to contain his fear and not run. Running made them chase. Chase led to bad things. He whimpered more. His body flinched as he was held so tightly but after a little while he leaned into it. Slowly starting to calm down the shakes fading little by little. He listened to what Tony said. "You promise? No cages?" He looked up with huge innocent eyes.

Tony pet Leo slowly, repetitively, waiting for the shakes to subside. "I promise. No cages." Smiling, he kissed Leo's forehead again. "I would never lock you up somewhere." Seeing how scared and vulnerable Leo was just increased Tony's resolve for no mercy if he ever came across the ones who caused his mate to be like this. Not that the innocent eye look wasn't cute. Tony just wished they were for a different reason other than the lion was scared.
