- Born in the outskirts of France, near Spain, Emma was fathered by an Irish cellist. When her mother, Zora, died shortly after her birth due to a severe case of anaemia, Dermott Fray took his daughter and returned to Ireland, Cleggan, where her grandmother raised her. Dermott was frequently away on his musical journey throughout Europe, and soon enough Grandmother Rosemary took five year old Imriška to see the fragrant worlds of France, Mysore, Tuscany, Bulgaria, India, Syria and, finally, to Prague where she underwent a basic education. Rosemary eventually occasioned New York to further her perfumer business when she noticed the changes in Em. After doing some research, she moved to California and enrolled her granddaughter into the House of Night program.
The dissimilar landscape and, according to her, characterless buildings annoyed Em, but she swallowed her dissatisfaction until, recently, news of her father’s death knocked her into a bout of depression.

- Imriška is an artist. She had learned the art of perfumery from her grandmother, music from her father, and visual arts from the beautiful city of Prague. She makes friends easily, and is down-to-earth, open, and authentic. She is introverted and has a rich inner life that kidnaps her into nostalgic memories. She is fearless, but cautious, and often devious and unpredictable. With an inquisitive mind, she becomes bored easily and is ambitious in everything she takes interest in.
