Here is some help to find your way around Gaia!
Even though you will find that a lot of people are continuously complaining about the Market Place, (and, hey, I hate what Flynn's Booty has done as well) Gaia still makes free items for events and other media. And they are pretty sweet!
My favorite list of free item grants!
Read Gaias Manga!
GOLD!
The number one question I always receive: How do I get gold?
My number one way is playing Booty Grab.
-Learn how to play Booty Grab.
-Visit the Aquarium forum.
Other way to earn small amounts of gold:
-Gaia Games.
-Voting in the arena.
-Posting in the forums.
-And vending in the market place. If Johnny Gambino (RIP) has taught me anything it's BUY LOW AND SELL HIGH.
Avi/Dress up Tips!
-Gaia Events usually give out new clothes or items for your avi.
-You can buy (using Gaia gold) new items/clothes in the SHOPS.
-CrosStitch is an awesome shop filled with user created items. Stein has frequent contests that are open to all users to submit original designs.
-TEKTEK is a great place to make a DREAM AVI or just look at what items Gaia has to offer.
-If you need help coming up with a TEKTEK idea: The Dressing Room is a great place to ask other Gaians to help you create a dream avi. You can also TEKTEK other members for the chance to win gold or prizes!
-Once you have a Dream Avi post it in the Charity Forums! Ask for gold...or ask for a specific item. Perhaps a nice Gaian will help you!
Odds and Ends!
-Wing stickers are given out free when Gaia has an event, such as Christmas, Halloween, etc... You use them to buy items from The Treehouse in the Shops.
-Alchemy is another way to create items to vend.

You can buy or get in the Daily Chance charms: hearts, diamonds, and stars. Once you collect enough of them, you can make a item in GoFusion. There's some ok items in there...but I'm not too impressed with what GoFusion has to offer.

Hiyooo, I'm a new Gaian (well.. sort of) and guildy too! I don't even know where to begin with how to decorate my new avatar.. my first Gaia account was 110% candy themed, but this one... I'm thinking of new outfits and even new usernames every 5 minutes, so while I'm happy to return to G.O., I'm at a loss of how to style my new girl because the item count here is nearly endless compared to back when I was in middle school.
