Introduction
I'm an avid crafter, excellent in crochet and sewing, with varying bouts of tatting, knooking and whatever looks interesting that I come across.
I'd like to either teach crafting or have an online store, but I'm disorganised and undecided what to specialise in for now. I've made hats, dolls and their clothes, jewellery and somethings I've totally forgotten about. smile
I like chatting and am happy to answer any questions you may have on my work. Feel free to PM me any time here on Gaia. I have Skype too, but usually only log in if we prearranged to "meet" and talk.

Baby Pengie!LinkOdd story behind this one. I went up to my mother's house and found the body (gray part) and thought: Great, I can make a sheep with this. Then I relented & decided to finish the original penguin pattern as part of my bid to finish off all my long standing projects before 2015 started. The weird bit comes in my getting the soft fluffy body from mother's place to where I live now. It fell out of my bag during the bus ride and the conductor fair jumped and then proceeded to very gingerly pick it up and hand it to me. I laughed a bit and told him it was just a stuffed toy. He told me quite seriously he thought it might have been a bomb - can't be too careful. Now, I know a headless, fuzzy bodied thing made in eyelash yarn looks a bit odd, but really, what kind of bomb falls without making that distinctive clink of metal on metal sound? Hm. No matter. That incident and the subsequent struggle I had to get the face markings done well guarantees that I'll never forget this pengie. ^_^

Mum's Neat Lil Change PurseLinkI really shouldn't have pulled 2 late nights working on this: rejecting colours, adjusting the stitch count for yarn weight differences, etc, but I guess I really wanted to finish another project and update my projects list for the year. Very OCD crafter. smile On sight Mother said it looked like it would be better bigger. Hope through use she finds it works just fine. Purple is her favourite colour, but I didn't have much of the lilac to work with. Thing to remember: I did the edging on the bus, joining and working over ends. Tip #1: Know the Russian join? This yarn I stranded to 2 ply. For the 1 ply bits, I fold in two, which forms a loop at one end. Then when I come to the end of my working yarn, I insert the tail into the loop. Lie the tail flat to work over it and crochet with the new yarn as normal. Voila! No tails! ^_^ TIp #2: If you need to join but about to start a chain, use Megan Mills' method of hiding the tail at the start of the chain to incorporate the tail end.

JaguarLink I'm still feeling OCD about his eyes, but meh, the boy is cute. The hardest part was making sure that the feet all balanced out so he stood properly. They contain pipe cleaners. A whip stitch worked very neatly on the thighs, which had to sewn to the sides and under the belly. (Awkward a bit.) This pattern came from a book my best friend bid on for me on Ebay a few years ago. Auction ended at $40 US. I appreciate this book tons.

Earrings ( original pattern) [my modified pattern: need to tidy up notes] I wanted to make this pattern without the earring hoops. Had to change up the stitch count a lot.

Wrist RestEarthy Mouse Pad Wrist Pillow by Jennifer Tallapaneni Not the exact colour but I think it shows up nicely in this pic. You have to use short rows to get the round "tummy" shaping done. Here's a video by Kelly Petkun from KnitPicks, to help you with that. I SO needed it. smile How to Knit Short Rows

Arabella(Pattern Test)Miss Leah the Tightrope Walker from Diceberry Designs [Maxine Velasco] My version's hair was intense! Took me 3 days to do with rest stops in between. (Explained in Ravelry notes, click the heading "Arabella" to go there for more pictures too.) It's a wonderfully clear pattern, but not a quick one. Be patient and modify Leah however you like. Likely best not to weight the feet if she's to be a child's toy. There are marbles in Arabella's, so I would not put her in the hands of say, anyone 10 years old or less. Kids tend to thwack you randomly with things. O_O
