Dear Professor,
Neriah has hatched. She is as healthy as she can be in her current state. She is attentive and responds to my commands, but she is very, very fragile. The tips of her leaves are brown and dry. Her eyes seem lifeless, but I can tell that she can focus on things just fine. It is clear that the fusions of two very conflicting pokemon is a very bad idea. Grass pokemon are full of life and Ghosts are undead. The two are not compatible. If any more ghost fusions are made I would insist that they are only combined with other ghosts. I believe Neriah is at an extra disadvantage because her ghost half is a Litwick. Litwicks burn life energy as fuel. I imagine that the state of her leaves is from her ghost half burning whatever energy she gets from the sun. She also leaches energy from anything around her. I have been able to prevent any accidents by keeping her by me so she only takes my energy. This has begun to take a toll on me, but thankfully I have Abrielle.

Abrielle has been able to feed Neriah with her psychic powers. There hasn’t been any trouble between the two of them. In fact Abrielle has been fascinated with Neriah and enjoys spending time with her. They can’t spend too much time together due to the strain it puts on Abrielle, but I imagine that as Bri grows she will eventually be able to stay around Neriah all the time. I also hope that evolution will help Neriah’s problem. Perhaps the sun stone will burn away some of her ghost half or at least strengthen her grass powers. I believe that as a Lilligant Neriah could take in enough energy to support herself. This is only a prediction and it is possible that she will be unable to support herself in poor weather.

I suppose she has been doing well all things considered. I have continued telling her stories and have started to train her in the park. I don’t believe Neriah has the strength to use many moves at the moment. I suspect this is another thing that would be improved by evolution. I still need to challenge the gym leader. Taking care of Neriah has thrown off my plans a little, but I do hope to start my journey soon. There isn’t much to do in Mato Town. I have been practicing my Origami in the meantime. This lead to an interesting discovery. I made small hats for Abrielle and Neriah. After I put one on Abrielle’s head I absently put one on Neriah. I had forgotten that she was not just a petilil. The hat did not burn immediately in her flame. It glowed in the flame before it was consumed. I gave her several sheets of my origami paper to see what would happen. It seems that she gains a bit of energy while burning actual objects. Fresh sticks work best, but I wonder what would happen if I gave her charcoal. I will look into this.

Sincerely,
Araceli Trifiro
