I welcome you to the mage course. I am Professor Alcalde, and I will be your professor for your remaining years.
In my classroom, there is no tomfoolery. You are in your final two years at this school. I have two years to teach you proper magery. Two years is much shorter than you think, so I suggest you pay attention in my class. You are smart and powerful, I know that. You have survived through the first year of classes and the enhancer course - that is no easy feat.
Magery is very, very different from enchanting. Enchanters and mages are alike in only one respect: both understand the properties of different materials and how magic differs when channeled through them. The difference is enchanters know how to use this knowledge to craft items, while mages know how to use this knowledge to free themselves of any single channeler.
By the end of this year, you will be able to channel through common natural materials. By the time you graduate, you will be able to channel through most materials in general. You will no longer have a channeler to call your own, because everything will be your channeler. A favorite among some of the more musical students is to channel power through a wooden flute.
There will not be much homework, as you may expect. Instead, there will mostly be practical training where I will teach you how to channel through different objects. It will be difficult, yes, but if you have made it this far then I have faith you can do it.
