Nicias had never been anything but intelligent. If nothing else, that's why he was so damn good at his job, so it was no secret that, at any given moment, he was being watched. This time, of course, was more obvious than most cases. Rayne was relaxed in the back room, his feet up on the table rebelliously-- something he could never get away with were Nicias actually in the room with him. Between his fingers was a smoldering cigarette he paid little attention, as he listened carefully to what was going on outside. Now, this was a bookstore, and the usual slew of customers was an occurrence accounted for, even if he did hate the interruptions when he wanted Nicias to help him get off. Rayne had chosen to come at what was usually the slower time of the day, hoping for just a little bit of time with that a**, but some not entirely unfamiliar face decided to pay a visit, and it was important enough for Nicias to go running.

Glaring at the doorway for what had to be the fifth time, Rayne flicked the ash that was about to fall anyway, and took another drag. It was that blond who often visited to get his fix; Rayne couldn't understand the reliance. He hated intoxicants; no alcohol, no drugs-- medical or otherwise, but he wasn't allowed to interfere in this business. He'd been warned more than once, very strictly, that he was to keep his trigger-happy-finger to himself in the bookstore. No bloodshed on the merch, or something, "C'mon, Nic.." Rayne groaned lowly, sighing out a cloud of smoke, and rubbing his temple with his free hand. From what he could tell, it was a back and forth; quiet, but loud enough for his practiced ears to catch onto a few things. Of course Ellyn was there for a fix, but it seemed Nicias was a bit more reluctant than usual. Well, Rayne would use the word loosely, of course. It was more that he was deadset on saying no, but wanted to do so lightly. He knew this kid well, and probably didn't want to hurt his feelings. Of course this led to pleading. This, Rayne figured, was why you always just got it over and done with quickly. No was no. Your time was your time.

"Nicias, please.. You can't be serious. Believe me, I know that I look like s**t; I just got out of the hospital, and I get that you're just trying to look out for me, but this isn't going to help me any."

"I don't see it making it worse, either. I'm sorry, Llewellyn, I'm standing firm on this decision."

There was the muffled sound of a hand hitting the counter top, "You wouldn't care if it were someone else. Please, god, nothing else is going right. Do you have any idea how hard it is to look at Gid right now? With the way he's looking at me?"

"Oh, and I suppose Gid just loves that you're coming here right now, doesn't he? Assuming, of course, that he even knows that you left." Nicias' voice was composed, but Rayne was still on edge, just waiting for Llewellyn to get hostile. He listened more carefully, even going as far as holding his own breath, just waiting for it. There was a long pause, though, and that was enough. After his cigarette was out and done, he kicked his feet off the table, and jumped up off of the couch, strutting out behind the counter with Nicias, grabbing his a** as he approached, "Sorry to interrupt, but... You interrupted first." He pointedly stared at the slickly looking blond before them, thinner than before, if that were even possible. No wonder he didn't want to give him anything. If he'd done his research correctly, and he always did, this kid had some serious problems. Ellyn greeted him, and Rayne nodded in acknowledgement, leaning his head on Nicias' shoulder from behind, tucking his hand into the man's pocket and cradling his body close to his own.

"Nic... Look," Llewellyn sighed, straightening himself up, and looking to his feet, "I know I ask all the time...but you're the only guy I know I can go to. I want to get better-- I never want to ******** wake up in another hospital bed again, or be that angry with Gid, or feel that betrayed, because I know... I know he's just trying to do what's right for me. I don't want to turn away his help, but I need more than just that. No one seems to understand.." He let out a funny sort of laugh, almost pathetic sounding as he looked, shaking his body with the vibrations, "This isn't just some quick fix situation. I've been trying to stop since Gid first asked. Do you have any idea what it's like to be over six foot, and weigh just above a hundred? Do you realize I feel like I'm about three hundred? That I feel.. I'm human, Nic, and I need help! Where else am I supposed to go?"

Nicias sighed, and Rayne glanced between the pair, "I'm not a miracle worker."

"I'm not asking you to be!"

"Keep your voice down." It didn't keep people from staring, but what anyone could learn from just being in a crowd of people long enough is that one; people are often too timid to make eye contact when someone's fighting, and two; they'll occupy themselves and forget about the situation all together if it's kept quiet after one or two outbursts.

Rayne leaned away from Nicias, then, and nodded his head back a bit, "Since I'm already included, why don't we all head in back to avoid any further worry from your customers, Nicias?"

"I've already said no." Nicias turned his icy glare to his boy, obviously through with this conversation, but Rayne just lifted one side of his lips, amused.

"I want it to be over just as ******** bad as you do, but I'm sure he isn't done begging. So come or don't. I don't mind you leaving me alone with him for a moment." He thought about it for a second, and brushed past Rayne, sighing audibly before disappearing. Rayne waited for Ellyn to follow suit, then found himself hot on his heels, pushing him down onto the futon next to Nicias, drawing his gun with a flick of his wrist and holding it under the blond's chin. He rolled his plum colored eyes, "Are you afraid?"

Pink eyes were wide, Ellyn doing all he could to push himself into the sofa and disappear as he choked on the words, and nodded instead. This wasn't what he'd expected. Was Nicias just going to let him die..? He spared a glance to his cousin, the color drained from his face, only to have his face grabbed harshly by Rayne, lifting his leg up to lean up over him menacingly, "Stop!"

"This is the same s**t you're doing to yourself every time you look at yourself and make yourself sick. You're making me sick, too. Do you LIKE playing with fire? Is this what you want? Don't you want to die? It sure seems that way. Let me do the honors, and put everyone out of their damn misery. Or do you not see that you're harming more than yourself? Do you care? Because I'm sick of ******** hearing about it, and getting a hitch in my day because Nicias has to attend to your a**." Rayne's nose crinkled in disgust, as he pressed the barrel harder against Ellyn's chin, "Do you think this is pretty? Is a skeleton is what you aim for? Maybe we should get that boyfriend of yours analyzed, because I'm thinking he might be into some freaky a** necrophilia s**t, what with how he can manage to deal with this cold, hard thing you call a body. Why should I even waste a bullet? I could snap you in half over my ******** knee if I wanted to."

"Rayne!" Nicias hissed, grabbing his wrist, "Enough!"

He took a deep breath, and slowly lowered his gun, shakily exhaling and pulling away, tucking his weapon away again, but keeping his eyes locked with those pink-surrounded pupils, "You'd better thank Nicias for prolonging the life you're throwing away, princess."

Knight of Termina
If I said I wanted to keep going with this, would you kill me?

He didn't have to even guess where Lewellyn was after waking up to an empty apartment, his back sore from camping out on the couch. He ran his fingers through his hair, catching a few tangled up curls with them and wincing. At least he hadn't been kicked out this time, that was a small miracle in and of itself. He drew a knee up against his chest, resting his chin atop it as he settled for waiting. Gideon knew where he had gone but he didn't have the energy to go after him. Not there, not when he knew what he was doing. "This is ******** up," he told himself, slowly getting up from the couch. He was hungry, he had work tomorrow, his father wanted to talk to him today. He'd make it way into the kitchen, poking around to find something he could make. They were running low on supplies again and he didn't get paid for another week. He tried not to think about all that as he cooked what he could.

They had been really living together for a while now, everything Gideon owned was tucked away into every inch of the place, he had even attempted to learn to cook more for the both of them. "You would think he's trying to avoid me now, huh?" he questioned the sizzling chicken. "I'd think it, too. It's better than him being angry with me still I guess." He left the pan on the stove, rummaging in the fridge until he came up with half an onion and a tomato. Those would be cut up quickly and thrown into the mix. Once it was done, he saved half. It was habit now, saving half of whatever he managed to make in case Lewellyn even felt like trying to eat that day. He went back and settled himself on the couch, balancing the plate on his knee as he fished around under the cushion for the remote.

"I'm just worried," he explained to the television as he turned it on. "I'm trying to understand, I am. I've read so much, I've probably asked way too many questions. I'm trying to be understanding of what he feels 'cause we both know I'm about as sympathetic as a rock when it comes to others. But this..." He paused, waving his fork a bit in the air before just taking a bite of his food. This was hard to define even to himself. There were just the same facts every time. Llewellyn would try at least and Gideon couldn't ask more of him but then it'd be the hospital again and he'd be furious and Gideon would either be tossed out for a few days or have to camp out on the couch until Lewellyn could look at him again. It hurt. Sometimes, and only sometimes did he envy how he used to be. Sleeping with people was easy, you didn't have to care. This? This was much harder but he couldn't blame anyone for it. He loved it, loved Lewellyn.

Gideon would finish up, getting to his feet once more to take his plate to the sink when he saw them. A pack of cigarettes and a brightly colored lighter. It took him a second to realize that they were Lewellyn's and he must have forgotten them. He sighed, placing the plate in the sink then going to get his coat. It was getting chilly outside Lewellyn would be missing his cigarettes later though, he was always forgetting them. He shrugged his coat on, shoving the carton and lighter into a pocket and heading out the door, locking up behind himself. And of course he had taken the car. Thankfully, it wasn't too long of a walk. Long enough to let him have some peace and clear his head at least.

Ellyn and Rayne kept their unblinking eyes locked upon one another for a long second, the blond curling his hands into fists against the couch tightly, grinding his teeth. His heart was pounding in his chest, rattling his eardrums. Would he really have done it? If Nicias had not intervened, would he have done something? Rayne's lids fell just slightly, and his lips curled upward once more. More than anything, this guy made Ellyn sick. Who was he to say anything to him; about him? About Gid? He was some kind of psycho, and Nicias was crazy enough to go right along dating him-- how could he go on talking about relationship dynamics, and anyone being sick for loving him? What a ******** pot-calling-the-kettle-black jackass.

"Don't.. Call me 'princess'.."

He'd spoken it quietly, dropping his look for a moment, hoping it might keep him from really being heard, even if he felt he had to voice it at all. When Ellyn began to breathe again, it wasn't steady, and Rayne let out a small laugh. Little blond was scared, and like any other time he'd seen that fear in someone's eyes, it gave him butterflies, "Got something you wanna say....princess?" Quickly, he rose from his seat, towering above the man who'd just threatened him. Nicias' boy or not, he had a right to defend himself. This was Nicias' blood, however, and Rayne made no move to grab for his weapon when Ellyn swung and landed his fist square against the side of his face.

"I told you not to ******** call me that! Who do you think you are?! Just because you can wave your little ******** toy around, you think you get to talk to me like I'm dirt under your feet? Piss right off, you little b***h, or I'll make you ******** swallow your teeth!"

Rayne staggered back, wiping blood from the corner of his mouth and glaring. A growl resounded from someplace deep in his chest, and began to shake, pulling his arm back as if he were ready to swing the moment Ellyn made a move, "I'd like to see you ******** try. You have zero idea what I'm capable of."

Because his day hadn't been bad enough, right? First, some product comes up missing and he is fairly certain that one of his own men are skimming a little off the top. That was something he would have to deal with after work and he was not looking forward to it in the slightest. Second, his cousin came into his store all but demanding to be given product stronger than he normally picked up. Three, Rayne was here in the middle of the day. Normally, he would be very interested in what made him stop by because he knew what it was but, today was not a good day. Business and Rayne never mixed and usually he had a very clear rule about keeping his two businesses apart. In a perfect world, Llewellyn would have admitted that yes, maybe did not need anything right this moment and would have gone home. It would have left Rayne and him alone to enjoy some time in his office before he had to take care of unpleasant business. But as anyone knew, this was far from a perfect world. Llewellyn spoke back, just tempting Rayne and Rayne was never one to back down from anyone, even if he was asked to. The punch was the last straw, he was done.

Nicias rose to his feet, moving to step between the two as if to keep them from going at each others throats. However, he reached over to Rayne, carefully taking the gun from where he had tucked it away and pointed it at Llewellyn himself. "I think there are a few things that I need to clear up," he said calmly. "One, I do not allow my businesses to mix. You do not come into this store and ask for anything but a book. Two, when I say you are cut off, you are cut off. There is no argument to be had, nothing. Three, you do not lay a hand on what is mine. You are my cousin Llewellyn and that is your only saving grace at the moment." He motioned back to the now closed office door with his free hand. "You are going to leave now or I will put a bullet through your skull myself. Understood?"

Neither of them had seen it going down quite the way it did. Rayne stood down the moment Nicias approached, and watched him with excited eyes as he drew the gun on his cousin. Not that the man needed anyone to stand up for him, but seeing this side of Nic was... Violet eyes hardly noticed his previous victim, and how he shook with what could have been anger, but was more than likely fear, "..are you... Are you serious? Are you serious, Nicias? ******** you. ******** you both. You ******** deserve each other." Ellyn pulled his jacket tight to himself, wanting to disappear as he very nearly ran out of the room, leaving Rayne to happily deal with matters he'd meant to in the first place; knocking the gun out of Nicias's hand and tackling him down to the floor.

How could it have gone so wrong so fast? He'd gone for help, and had to defend himself against.. A few times, Ellyn had been told that if in a room of people, everyone is an a*****e, you are probably the a*****e. But what had he done wrong? Shakily, he dug around in his jacket pockets, lost in thought; why? Soon replaced by 'where'. Where were his smokes? He could really use one, and now he wondered if he'd up and left them in the ******** back room. There was no way Llewellyn was going back in there. Not for smokes. Not for anything, so he settled for getting in the car, and sifting through garbage between the seats, praying to find a halfie. As if there were some god someplace, he found a bit of a cigarette left, and put it in his mouth, only to burst into tears five minutes into looking for a way to light the damn thing. They were tears of fear, and of frustration, and Llewellyn screamed loudly, punching the horn. They were supposed to be family!

After taking a deep breath in through his nose, Ellyn composed himself, and sat up straight in the driver's seat, looking out the windshield at Gideon who'd stopped mid-sidewalk, probably too scared at Ellyn's little episode to approach. Honestly, he didn't even want to ******** look at him. The thought crossed his mind; just leave him here. You don't know why he's here, and it's none of your business. Just leave, Llewellyn. Stop making eye contact, and go home. You don't want to be here anyway, "If you want a ******** ride home, get your a** in the car!" He turned the key, fully intending to drive off in the next two seconds.
PostPosted: Tue Sep 16, 2014 1:50 pm

The walk was taking longer than he honestly thought it would. Maybe it never seemed that long since they normally drove over to see Nicias together even if the man tried to tell them again and again that he didn't do his other business in the store. He always made an exception for them though, taking them into the backroom and setting them up with whatever they needed. Lately though, Gideon had taken to staying out front as Llewellyn did his business, browsing the books. Slowly, he had stopped using everything that he used to. On occasion he'd still indulge in a little high here and there but, only on nights when he didn't have work the next day. You needed to have your head clear when it came to manual labor or else you could hurt yourself or one of your coworkers. He spent most of his time now just sitting with Llewellyn when he got off on whatever he was given for the week. It was always a gamble with Nicias, you either went high or felt like you were sinking into the carpet. Gideon remained though, keeping hold of the other while he rode out the waves of the drug.

He'd continue along those thoughts, letting his mind wander further and further before coming to a stop at the blaring of a horn. It was Llewellyn outside of the store, in his car and he didn't look happy in the slightest. They had seen others come and go just like that and it could only mean one thing. Nicias had cut him off and he wondered briefly if the man had felt a little guilty. Maybe thinking that whatever he had given him last time had helped in sending the other man to the hospital. Then again, guilt and Nicias didn't seem like two things that really went together. He contemplated just continuing to walk, to pretend he hadn't seen him but he hesitated a bit more until the other finally caught sight of him. To his credit, he didn't flinch at the narrowing of eyes. Gideon just pulled his jacket in more around himself, shivering at a gust of wind that kicked up. Maybe he should just give him the cigarettes and walk back, it might be easier that way. But then Llewellyn was yelling out the window at him and he found himself moving towards the car without even really considering it.

Gideon slid into the passenger side, shutting the door as the engine in the old car finally caught, starting with a rumble. He'd buckle himself in before digging into his coat pocket and pulling out the pack of cigarettes and the lighter. "You left these on the counter," he said softly, handing them over to the other. "Thought you'd be missing them by now." Once they were taken from him, he leaned his head against the window, twisting the ring on his finger.

It was a known fact that Llewellyn wasn't the safest driver; that he didn't look out for pedestrians, or really pay attention to the light, or the double lanes when he was passing another vehicle, but this time was a bit different. He jerked the car away from the curb roughly, and peeled out, pushing his little piece of s**t as fast as it would go-- seventy in a school zone, and if that wasn't bad enough, he hadn't bothered with a seat belt, "I don't even see the point anymore! My life is so minimal, isn't it?" Taking his eyes off of the road, he snatched the pack away from Gid, and shook it, even though his boy wasn't looking at him, "I might as well chain smoke until I ******** give myself lung cancer, right? Hell, I'd crash the car, but you're in here, so thanks for saving my worthless life-- he pulled a ******** GUN on me! A ******** gun!" Gideon was probably more than aware he was just talking to hear himself talk, that this conversation would have happened between Ellyn and the steering wheel had he not been in the car.

They reached home safely, by sheer luck alone, and Ellyn stopped shouting, staring blankly at his knees. It felt too quiet, and as he swatted at the tears running down his face, he finally turned his attention to Gid, "...thanks for the smokes." There was more he'd wanted to say, more that he'd wanted to ask, like why Gideon was even still with him; if he still loved him; if he thought his life meant nothing, too. Was that what everyone thought Llewellyn thought about himself..? He pulled out a cig and popped it between his lips, lighting it up and taking a drag as he reached to roll his window down, "..I, uh.. I punched his boy, after he'd threatened me. And Nicias...doesn't want me to come back, so.. Sorry I disappeared today. It'll...probably be a while before I do it again."

There absolutely was a certain amount of risk involved if you took a ride offered by Llewellyn. Normally it wasn't this bad but Gideon had the sneaking suspicion that he wasn't just rushing to get home. It felt like he was trying to leave something behind and it worried him slightly. Ellyn was good at running but Gid tried to not focus on thoughts like that. Instead, he opted for gripping at his seat belt, trying to keep his eyes fixed on the door handle instead of the scenery flying past them. They'd already gotten into one wreck before, he still had the scar on his leg from it. He had to be crazy to even think about getting into a car with him again but, it was Llewellyn. His Ellyn. He'd listen to him rant to the steering wheel, wondering just exactly what went down in the bookstore today.

He'd only uncurl his fingers from the belt once they were settled safely into the driveway, the engine off. He nodded his head slightly in acknowledgement for bringing him the cigarettes, waiting for Ellyn to get the rest out of his system. It was best to let him go until he was shouted out then do some damage control. He reached over to thread his fingers with the ones on Ellyn's free hand as the other spoke up again. "Sounds like a rough day," he commented, giving that hand a squeeze. "Nicias should get over it, he hasn't been pissed at you for long before. Give him a few days I guess before going back. That gun thing sounds crazy though, thought that was only his boy who waved it around for show." The quiet just rushed back in the moment he stopped talking and it did feel strained. He had questions to ask too but he just pushed them back down. "C'mon, let's get inside, I bet you haven't slept at all since you got home."

"No, he can ******** himself. I'm not going back there. I never want to see his face again." He barely gripped the fingers in his own, running his thumb against Gid's hand, "All I wanted was a little help. It was supposed to be different this time. I didn't want to just forget, Gid, I want to get better, and I thought... I just thought maybe if it were something strong enough...I could hold down a meal. That I could keep myself from.. I dunno, myself? 'Cause you take...such good care of me. Working hard, and cooking for me.." Ellyn leaned over across the space between their seats, nestling himself up against Gid, and holding his hand a bit tighter.

His own work was hardly as impressive, and he made a lot less money. Most of his income was from the state, since he worked so little, he could file for unemployment. Working at a theater seemed glamorous, but this was one of three different jobs he'd had during his relationship with Gid, and the other two were under the table, and under minimum wage, but the guy who made the calls, Lucas, always made it worth his while in the end. Not to mention cleaning up after nasty a** people in a nasty a** part of town wasn't exactly...a dream come true. He needed something better, but just thinking about it seemed like another weight on his shoulders. Llewellyn took another few drags, and flicked it into the street from the window, "...you're right. Let's go inside." Lucas had been the guy he called before he found out he could go to Nicias, and he didn't just go to him to score a bag. Any dirty job that needed doing, he found a guy willing to do it. He was the reason a lot of illegal immigrants in the area had jobs, and why Llewellyn learned to speak a little Spanish. He didn't care who did the job, as long as the job was done correctly, and with Ellyn the way he was...and with the history he had...

As they stepped out of the car, Ellyn reached for his phone, flipping through his contacts and searching for Lucas. He should have been looking for another under-the-table setup, but this time it was just about the bag. If he could get something to give him the munchies, but keep him high enough long enough to keep it all down, then maybe he could beat this thing. No more hospital trips, and he wouldn't need to beg Nicias. Shooting Lucas a text to see if it was still his number, Ellyn smiled at Gid, "I'm gonna fix everything."

He wasn't fighting him at least, that had to be worth something right now. Gideon didn't really think he could handle another round of Ellyn raging. It sounded like he was at least thinking a little clearer now, or maybe he was just trying to convince himself of that. Still, he grabbed the pack of cigarettes and the lighter before climbing out of the car. It was habit to hold onto them, Ellyn always misplaced them. He went on ahead of him, making only a small note of him pulling a phone out as he fumbled with his keys. He'd get the door opened up by the time Llewellyn spoke again, causing him to go still. Something burned in the pit of his stomach, pulling at parts of him that that he was still only partially aware of. There was some dim flash of a memory, something that didn't seem real. He pushed it aside, stepping inside, "Don't just stand out there," he called back over his shoulder.

He shrugged out of his jacket, hanging it up and nudging the door shut with a foot once Ellyn had made it inside. Gideon moved in behind the other, peeling off his coat as he kissed his shoulder. "Get yourself cleaned up and warm then get some sleep," he instructed gently. "Old man wants me to give him a call so I'll join you later," and here he hesitated, still not sure at what point they were at right now. He usually had to exile himself to the couch for a few days but it hadn't nearly been as long time time and he didn't want to push his luck. "If you want that is," he finished, pressing another kiss in the space right behind Ellyn's ear.

Gideon would leave him standing there, heading into the kitchen so he could get his phone off the counter.

Ellyn's own phone would chirp at him then, one new message. ::Well, look what's showed up at my doorstep again.

Ellyn closed his eyes, lingering in the few moments, sighing softly and only opening his eyes once he couldn't feel Gid's presence any longer. Sometimes felt off...empty. Not just in the normal sense of him being angry. He wasn't angry like he had been the other times. He was slowly learning that Gid cared, and that was the only fuel; not to control his life, but to help him control it himself. Everything could easily feel off because he wasn't on his usual cloud, and god, did he hate the first couple days going without.. Gideon hadn't even mentioned anything about eating. He probably already knew exactly what would happen, and took into account that it was hardly worth the effort, until Ellyn had a grip on himself.

Glancing around the room-- to the blankets on the couch, and the plates stacking up on the coffee table-- Llewellyn ducked out of the living room, going to do as he was told, gathering some clean clothes before hitting the bathroom. He pulled off his shirt, avoiding the mirror hanging over the sink, and threw it in the bin. Emptying his pockets, he noticed the screen blink a few times on his phone; an unchecked, unread message. As he read it, he reached over and locked the door, opting for a bath instead of a shower, so he could take his time and text Lucas back. He sat on the edge of the tub, and began filling the tub with steaming water, :: Oh, don't go getting all sentimental. I don't have much money, and I just burned my connection. Can you set me up with something for cheap, or am I wasting my time?
PostPosted: Tue Sep 16, 2014 6:08 pm

Gideon had grabbed his phone but had gone back into the living room to gather the dishes so he could deposit them in the sink for later. Another trip in had him folding up the blankets and laying them over the back of the couch. All neat and squared away, it made him feel a little better like nothing had gone wrong recently. Still, he waited until he heard water running before sitting at one of the stools in the kitchen, the newest stack of mail at his elbow. He'd call his old man, flipping through bills and general junk. "Yeah, hey. Calling like you wanted," he said, picking one envelope to slowly open as the voice in his ear droned one. "No. He's fine. Just the flu, got him some medicine so he just needs to rest and feel better. Yeah, I'm making sure of that too." He was looking over the letter but not even really processing what it said, just nodding absently to the voice on the line.

Across town, a man laughed, the sound breaking a bit around the underused expression. It was enough still to get a guy in the room next to him to lean back in his chair and fix him with a questioning gaze, a single slender brow raised. He waved a hand dismissively at him, focusing back on his phone. The soft 'tock' of wooden chair legs falling back against cheap linoleum let him know that his partner had gone back about his own business. :: But it's been so long. You went off to greener pastures and all, didn't take you long to knock on my door again, hm? Cheap though. I'm sure I can set you up with something, maybe better than cheap if you do a little work for me. Nothing strenuous, just a pick up and whatever you want is yours. Interested?

:: Grass is always greener, or something like that. I appreciate the idea of free, but forfeiting payment, and not in return for something strenuous? Am I just risking the usual, or is there something you're not telling me?

:: Why wouldn't I tell you everything? Your face is cute, can't let it get manhandled about if you're going to grace me with your presence.

:: Alright, give me details. Where, and when?

:: Later tonight. Two am or so when good boys like you should be sleeping. Two-oh-ninth and Ceader. Club on the corner, Glo. I'm sure you remember it. Lady at the door should have some goods for you, just tell her you're picking up for me. Then get your a** here and we'll have a nice time. I even have Wes over, he'll be happy to see you.

:: Oh, I'm sure that terror will be leaping for joy.

:: Alright. Two AM.

:: He is a peach, not a terror. But, correct. Two am. I expect you here no later than two thirty.

:: I won't be late. But he's a terror.

:: You're the terror, sneaking out on your boy so late at night. Give me a ring when you set out so I can be ready myself.

:: I'm doing what I have to. He'd understand. Just because you're the possessive type doesn't mean he is.

:: I know a good thing when I have it. Possessiveness is just a trick of the trade.

:: Right. Well, I'll call you later.

:: Of course. Have fun Ellie.

Ellyn stared at the screen for a long moment, rereading all of the messages, over and over again, the bath water having grown lukewarm. Washing his hair quickly, and scrubbing over his limbs, he hurriedly got out of the tub. For anyone else, the clothes he'd picked out just to sleep in would be fine; some sweats and his hole-filled tank top, but this was Llewellyn, and there was no way he was showing his face anywhere without packing some clothes to change into in the car. So he pulled on his sweats anyway, and waltzed into the room, stuffing a handbag with another pair of clothes. If nothing else, he didn't want to raise any suspicion. Gid would just worry, and tell him to just go to sleep anyway. Throwing his cell into the handbag as well, he made his way out of the room, not intending to touch it until he was in his car anyway, and as he approached the kitchen, he could still hear Gideon chattering away.

So taking a deep breath as he thought it through, Ellyn leaned against the door frame, and looked on in, watching his boy. He was quiet until the phone call ended, and he folded his arms across his chest, looking down to the kitchen floor and back up again, "I thought about ...you joining me later...while I was in the bath, and... I just think it's too soon. We can try maybe tomorrow, after you get off work, but...I just want to be alone for a while." This felt...too shady. It was, but...it wasn't like Gid hadn't heard of Lucas before. Should he just tell him? He didn't feel like lying, and god it was already making him feel bad, but he'd already reasoned with himself, and this was for the better anyway. Llewellyn tried to shoot him an apologetic smile, "...what did, uh.. What did dad have to say?"

Gideon had his head resting on his arm as he talked, asking and answering the same questions that always came up in talks with the old man. At least he had finally given up on the whole higher education thing, he had just scraped by back in high school as it was. That, and he never did well in just one place for hours and hours a day. He'd end up zoning out more often than not. Which he seemed to be doing right now until the soft padding of feet on carpet then tile caught his ear and he glanced up briefly at Llewellyn. He smiled faintly at him, noting that he did look a little better after a nice shower. "Yeah, bye. Talk to you later," he said in a bit of a rush, hanging up the phone so he could give his full attention to his fiance. Before he could even ask if the other felt better, he spoke. Gideon stared at him a moment before lowering his gaze. "Oh...okay," he said softly, the almost smile he had going away now. He knew he pushed too soon, he just knew it and he shouldn't have been expecting anything else to happen.

He turned the phone over and over in his hands, trying to school his expression back to something more neutral, something nice and calm and accepting of this situation. He knew it took time for Ellyn to sort himself back out after these scares but Gideon was itching to touch him, to hold onto him. He drew in a breath and looked up at his boy again, shrugging. "Nothing much, just asking how you were. I told him you had the flu and that I was making sure you were taking medicine and getting plenty of rest. He was offering to loan us some funds again but told him we were fine. Other than that, it was just the normal stuff. Still thinks that Loic is seeing his boyfriend too much and Alessa has him thinking over if he should take in another kid on a temporary basis until they can get him settled elsewhere." There, that was a safe thing to tell him, just move past what had happened and it would be fine. Maybe tomorrow he'd make them breakfast and Ellyn would humor him a bit and eat. "Feel better after getting cleaned up?"

There it was, that flicker of disappointment on his face, and Ellyn frowned, "It's not you," he whispered softly, and stepped further into the kitchen. Gid probably knew that, though, since they'd been through this song and dance enough, even if the circumstances were a little different. The flu, huh? Ellyn rolled his eyes a little; it wasn't like he wanted more talk about his "condition", but it bothered him to think Gid felt like he had to make up stories. When you need someone to talk to, you talk, and maybe it was his boy's way of trying to preserve a shred of his dignity...so it wasn't like he could really blame him.

"That's nice." He nodded a little, "And I do feel somewhat better, I suppose.. I dunno." This was entirely too hard, and required too much thought. He was tired, and still a bit cranky from earlier, though surprisingly enough, he wasn't really that mad anymore. Ellyn was setting things right, because even if it wasn't the way he'd've liked it to be done, Rayne had had a point: he needed to take his life a little more seriously and get this whole thing under control, "What time do you have to go to work tomorrow? I was thinking maybe we could play video games or something. It's been a while." It was an awkward attempt, at best, to clear some of the air about them not being able to share a bed for the night, but not a very good one, as his idea was brushed aside, and pushed to tomorrow, like a few things. The rest of the night went much the same, with Ellyn turning in early, and fooling around on his gameboy until about one, when the bed started to be too comfortable. Just another hour to go. Standing out of bed, and stretching up toward the ceiling, he looked around his room, feeling alone now that the system was off.

With quiet footsteps, he made his way into the living room, standing at the mouth of the hallway, and looking at Gid, curled up on the couch. It did seem like an unfair punishment, some torture device as his couch was. He was dead asleep already, his face peaceful, and his mouth partway open, and Ellyn just stared for a moment before making his way over, and sitting on an open edge of the couch, reaching to tuck some of his hair behind his ear. Anyone who knew Gid, though, knew his hair never exactly cooperated. ...well, unless you worked it like Ellyn did. Like Ellyn used to.

He rose back up from the sofa after a long moment, and went and dug through Gideon's jacket until he found his cigarettes and lighter. He was going to need these.. Making his way back to the room, he grabbed his handbag, and a pair of shoes before heading out to the front door and whispering a soft 'I love you' as he opened it, and slipped out. It was still only about one-twenty, so he sat in his car, antsy as ever, and lit up a cigarette as he began to get redressed in his packed-away clothing. By the time he picked up his phone to call Lucas, he'd gotten dressed, and drove off down the street to the local convenience store to grab a cup of coffee to keep himself awake, leaving him with five minutes before it was time to head down to his destination, "Hey," Ellyn said when Lucas' voice could be heard on the other end. It was sort of nice to hear his familiar voice, and that sent up some red flags as it was. Brought back some memories, good and bad, "I'm on my way."
