He never thought he'd ever have to do this. Okay...So he had thought about it. Finding a place to live outside of the homestead that is. A place to call his own where he didn't have to wait in line for the bathroom because of the insane amount of family members in the house. A place where he could have all the privacy he wanted. He just never expected to do it this way. He had imagined himself nabbing an apartment. Nothing too expensive, but not some dump either. Still in the city, but far away enough that perhaps it might deter relatives dropping in at all hours of the day. A few furnishings, a few manly touches entertainment and decorative wise and he would have been good to go. That all went up in smoke once he found out that the one night stand he had resulted in getting said stand pregnant. Instead of looking for the apartment, he was with her looking for a house for their own family. Yes...family. He had always seen himself as someone who would never settle down. If he had kids by someone else, he'd help take care of them sure; but never to actually move in with the mother. But this lady...Shaking his head, Rufio looked at the piece of paper in his hand.

She was shocked to be actually looking for a place with someone else. She always knew she would leave the place that was supposed to be her home but had never felt like home. But to have someone else going with her with the intention of getting a place together was a bit nerve racking but also exciting. She was shocked he was taking on a family role with her. She had thought he was the type to support but not settle down. So this turn of events was very shocking to her. It pleased her a lot too. She was happy to not have to raise these kids alone and very pleased he was with her. She didn't care he was a vampire it made no difference to her. He was still Rufio and that would never change. She loved him and that was all that mattered to her. She walked to the first address they had agreed to look at and waited there for him very nervous.

Looking up from the paper, he winced as he saw Elizabeth already there. He picked up his pace, giving a small wave as he approached. "Sorry! Sorry I'm late. Were you waiting long?" God he hoped not. He felt bad enough about having to get out of helping around the house. He didn't want to screw this up either. Not when he'd be living in the same house with her, having kids with her. He had heard tales, how pregnant women could get moody. How the father didn't even have to do anything before getting their head bit off. Thankfully Elizabeth hadn't seemed to be the kind to do so, but he didn't want to chance it. "Ready to take a look at what's behind Door Number 1?"

Lady Elizabeth stands there waiting and hums softly. Not sure if Rufio is just running a bit late or if she was just early. Either way it didn't really matter that much. She looked over and caught sight of him. Waved back and grinned very happy to see him. She giggled and kissed his cheek. "Relax Rufio I wasn't waiting that long. Don't worry about it." She snuggled up close to him and relaxed very pleased he was here. She had been a little worried he would stand her up and that she'd never see him again. He really didn't seem like the type to settle down and yet here he was. She hoped he was going to settle down with her. That would make her very happy. "Sounds good to me. I'm excited to see what lays beyond door number one."

"You sure? I tried to get here on time but..." He had a devil of a time getting out of the house without becoming victim to 20 Questions. And there certainly were plenty of questions that he had to promise he'd answer later. Rufio put his arm around Elizabeth's waist as they headed in. He glanced down at the paper. "According to the ad, this place is supposed to have a lot of rooms and a large backyard. Made no mention of a large kitchen for you though so..."

She shrugged. "No need for you to worry about it Rufio. But what Did something happen?" She frowned worried and watched him. Not sure if he had been late because he didn't want to be there or if it was something else? She snuggled closer and relaxed when he wrapped an arm around her waist. That felt so nice. She looked down at the paper too. "Ah well at least it has the things that you want. It might be hard to find everything we want. But this one has all your pre reqs so that good." She smiled at him.

Rufio gave a wry smile. "One of the things about a large family, you tend to be subjected to an inquisition by them all if something life changing happens. Had to promise to sit down and answer question later just so I could get here relatively on time." He looked around the room they were in a moment before shaking his head. "It's going to be a home for our kids. For us. You and me. It won't feel like much of a home and it wouldn't be fair to you if it had only things I wanted. So while we might not find something with everything we wanted in our budget, I can live with only having one or two of my requisites if it meant you were able to get yours as well."

Lady Elizabeth looked at his wry smile and snuggled close to him. She tilted her head as she listened to him. And then giggled when he said that. "So what kinds of questions were they trying to ask you? And do you want to introduce me to them? Or am I not meeting your family? And it's ok don't worry. I was just a little worried about you when you were late. But it's fine." She frowned when he shook his head and then she smiled when he spoke. She looked around the room too. "Alright darling. But it doesn't have to be perfect. And this is a good choice since it has everything that you need and want." She snuggled close and relaxed against him. "Ok Rufio. We can keep looking for things and see what we find in our price range and has what we need. But again you don't need to worry so much about what I want if we can't find it."

"Things like who were you. What kind of person you were. How did I meet you. Where you came from." He blinked at Elizabeth's question concerning her and his family. "Why would I not introduce you to them? They're going to be your family too you know. Should probably get the Spanish Inquisition done before we actually move in together in case you find out my family is too crazy for your liking. Since no doubt once we move in they'll be constantly at our door."
He wandered into other rooms. "Like I said, it might have what I want and need, but it doesn't have yours. I wouldn't be happy in a home that doesn't have what you want too."

Lady Elizabeth chewed on her lower lip slightly. She knew she was acting irrationally but she couldn't help it. "I just... I was worried maybe you didn't want your family to know about me. We didn't plan to have kids. I didn't know if I was just a one night stand that you were only helping out because you felt obligated and would never want your family to know about. You don't seem like the type to want to settle down so… so I didn't want to get my hopes up." She chewed her lip harder her hormones and emotions all over the place. "What did you tell them about me?" She shook her head. "I know about insane families. Nothing that yours do could ever make me want to leave. I'm sure they just love you so much and mean well."
She looked around and walked through the rooms with him her head down not wanting him to think her a stupid emotional twit. She usually wasn't but these babies were wreaking havock with her emotions. She shrugged. "Well this is a possibility but we can keep looking."

Oh no. Not this. Rufio never knew what to do with crying women. Granted, Elizabeth wasn't crying just yet, but she seemed on the verge. If this was any other person, he'd be heading for the hills. But if he was going to make this work, he needed to stick by her through everything. "I'm not going to lie. I never thought I would settle down. Never wanted to. You're different from all the other girls. And I told my family that. That you have a fresh outlook on life. One that makes me think, slow down and smell the roses. You're a sweet girl, not someone like me that just wanted a hook up or is looking for an angle. So I want to at least give this a try." He looked right in her eyes after tapping her chin so he can see them. "I'm not 100% sure this is going to work. But yes, I will introduce you to my family. They want to get to know you. They'll want to get to know our children." Rufio sighed and raked his hair further back. "And if things don't work between you and me, at least you'll have a support system. I would of course help financial; but my family could help if you needed an ear or a place to stay too." Looking around the final room, Rufio put a question mark next to listing. "Well there's a couple other houses. The next one is only a few blocks from here."

Lady Elizabeth stood there as he spoke. Each of her words was like a knife to her heart. He never thought he would settle down. She knew that already. She'd said that just a moment ago. Yet hearing him say that just hurt her heart. She didn't want to believe it. She didn't know what to think when he said she was sweet. Sweet never sounded good. She didn't want to be only sweet. You called little children sweet. It felt patronizing I she didn't want a fling or a hook up but she wouldn't force him into anything. If he wanted to play the field it would break her heart but what could she do?she wouldn't be a shackle or ball and chain to him. That wouldn't bw fair. She let him lift her head and forced the tears to not flow. She felt as if she was on the verge of tears and didn't want to cry. He'd hate that. She felt like he'd just stopped on her heart. She was just a charity case for him. Something for him to be duty bound to. He was only doing this because he felt he had to. She bit her lip hard as he kept speaking. No she wouldn't be a burden on him or his family. She didn't want his money. Money didn't fix anything. Her family had taught her that. They'd had all the money in the world yet it had been hell. She started to cry. She tried to stay silent as the tears streamed down her face. She kept crying. "We don't have to keep doing this. I'm not going to force you into anything. I'll just go. You won't have to worry about me or the children. You can keep to your life style you've already had."

Okay...so moving on was out of the question right now. The crying. Hesitating, Rufio gently pulled Elizabeth into a hug. "That's not what I'm saying. You're not forcing me into anything at all. I want to do this." He wiped away her tears. "I do care for you. And maybe this," he put a hand on her stomach, "is a sign that it's time for me to settle down. That maybe I've finally found the right woman to have by my side." He didn't know. He had heard how his parents got together. How they weren't too sure. How his father had been just like him, flitting from one place to another, one person to another. Yet they had found each other and managed to make it work.

Lady Elizabeth was shocked when he pulled her close. She froze for a moment not believig. He was holding her. She relaxed I tot he hug after a moment still crying. She looked at him shocked by his words. Did he actually mean them or were they just words? She wanted to belive them but what if it wasn't true? She rested her head against his hands s he wiped the tears away. She tries to make them stop falling but they wouldn't. She wanted to be with him so badly but that wouldn't be fair to him if it wasn't something he wanted. She blushed when he rested his hand on her stomach. She blushed even more at his next words. She wanted to hide her face from him. She must look like a really mess. Crying and blushing at the same time. How could anyone be attracted to that? She couldn't make it stop though. She hugged him back as she cried. She just wanted to be held.

Rufio continued making soft, soothing noises as he hugged her, running his hand through her hair in hopes one of those things would help calm her down. He screwed up. He knew that. Apparently the truth wasn't what she wanted to hear. But he couldn't lie to her. So maybe she wouldn't believe anything he said anymore, not when it came to staying together. All he could do was show her that he was willing to give this a try. And just maybe, he wouldn't screw this up further, or break her heart too badly if it ended up not working out. Yes, he knew that he would break her heart to some degree if he did leave her. With a warning though, that it was a possibility, wouldn't that help soften the blow?
