Personality: Nicholas is the type of person who you could call an actor. He'll put up a facade depending on the person in order to get the desired responses from them whether it is to have them become his enemy or rival or to make them his greatest of friend, he will change his way of speaking and the emotions he shows in order to reach that goal. In truth however he is actually a calm and collected person who doesn't really understand, other than the stereotypical version, the emotion of anger. As such he also doesn't really hold any grudges on people and isn't the aggressive type. He's also a naturally friendly and kind person who would be friendly to anyone, even strangers. He is quite modest and doesn't have an ounce of arrogance in him. Nicholas is also very observant and has a tendency to see things most people don't see making it easier for him to act in a manner that pleases or displeases a person. He doesn't normally show his true self to others unless he thinks of them as a close friend.
Bio: Nicholas was born in Lavaridge Town in the Hoenn Region. A town built upon being a place to relax in thanks to their hot springs, it was natural that at the same time, fire type pokemon would gather near the area. Nicholas always seemed to enjoy hanging around pokemon despite the dangers that it could possibly bring, especially if the said pokemon were very aggressive but Nicholas never really minded all of that. Nicholas had always been naive when it came to others whether it was pokemon or humans. He was to open and followed what others told him to do most of the time not knowing a sense of danger. One night while he was walking around the town, he encountered a stranger who drew him in by promising him a nice treat. Naive Nicholas followed the man and ended up in a cave where many kids were trapped working. Nicholas was forced to work for a whole day, mining the caves for precious gems before his family found him and saved him and the other kids. Nicholas was only eight years old when this event occurred. Though it may have been only for a day, he was greatly traumatized by it. For the first time he realized the dangers of people. For this reason he stopped being so open to others and always made a facade when around people he didn't know or trusted. Even to his own family he placed a partial facade up.
One day it was discovered that strange gems were being found around the Kanto Region and that around them, pokemon trainers with explicit skill were protecting them and handing pieces of them over to trainer who could defeat them. Nicholas felt really inspired by this and strove to become one of those trainers known as Gem Protectors. He would bring along his first pokemon, a male torchic which he named Izayoi. He would then travel to Cinnabar Island in order to begin his journey.
