Phew! I finally finished the bookmarks I was working on for my sister and her boyfriend for their birthdays!
Their birthdays are six days apart so I decided on some His & Hers bookmarks using a Vervaco kit that I bought from Germany last year. ^^

Here are the finished pieces!
I used hemming tape to stick cardboard and felt to the back of the bookmarks to make them more sturdy and cover up
my stitches and then I sewed on the buttons and ribbons at the top to finish them off. This is the most crafty I've ever
gotten with anything I've stitched (I usually stick to the pattern and that's it) so I'm super excited to see how they like them. ^^

Edit: I know how much time it takes to do cross stitch and with as much detail as you put in it took a long time. Love it! Inspires me to get mine out. Hmmm...

You definitely should get yours out and get stitching!
You can't beat the feeling of watching the picture slowly start to take form. ^^
My next project is a photograph of one of my cats that I had converted into a stitch pattern, so I'm super excited to start that soon! But first.. a few days off! whee

Oh wow. Do you have a program to do that, convert photos to grid pattern? I so want to find one or learn how to do that myself. I usually use a light board and a grid paper and the color it in myself using 4 to 5 colors to make the pattern.

Oh wow. Do you have a program to do that, convert photos to grid pattern? I so want to find one or learn how to do that myself. I usually use a light board and a grid paper and the color it in myself using 4 to 5 colors to make the pattern.

For the photo of my cat I had DMC do it. My sister bought me a DMC Stitch-A-Photo kit for my birthday, you just send off the
photo you want converted into a pattern and they do it for you, but there *is* a program I have that does it too. It's called STOIK
Stitch Creator 4. It gives you the symbols, numbers of the threads you'll need, count to do it on and you can also adjust
the size of it if you wish. The program can be downloaded online and has a 14 day free trial. c:

Yes they are. I make my family members tapestry blankets to celebrate special occasions. I gave my niece a Texas Tech blanket that was huge, but this one for my nephew is like a California King sized blanket that would touch the floor on all three sides. The width is the length of a couch. emotion_facepalm

That sounds really. All I actually need is the picture kind of pixelated. lol. The stitch doesn't change it's just a color thread change. I love making my own patterns. I've only bought 1 pattern that was for a tapestry blanket and now I just make my own. They just take forever to make, especially with kids. cat_rolleyes

Making your own patterns is great. Have you ever considered selling your blankets or anything like that?

I can usually finish them in about 6 to 8 months. It takes about 2 weeks to a month to design it and about find the right yarn colors and estimate how much yarn will be used. I use Red Heart Super Saver because it's a lot of yarn in a skein. My nephew's blanket has taken several years. emotion_facepalm I put it up for a whole year due to family illnesses and drama but now that's all finished and I can work full time on it again. Hurrah!

I would love to sell them but custom ones take so long to produce that I wouldn't be able to make very many and they might be too expensive for some people to buy. Baby blankets or keepsake blankets might be fine to make but anything larger and it would just take too long for the customer. cat_crying I wish I were faster. lol.
