These are the exterior training grounds that extend out from the back of the school. Train, practice, and hold unusual school and class related activities here. You and a partner can even square off...but only with proper supervision.... ninja

A boy walks up to a swing on a tree and sits on it. He looks rather bored. "I wonder what classes I'm going to sleep through today?" he says to himself. He begins to doze off on the swing.

Owen starts to lead the other students out to the Practice grounds. He momentarily wondered just where Roichi-sensei had gone off to. That was just odd how the guy never seemed to stay in one place for long.
Owen noticed a tallish kid sitting in the old swing The sword gave him away, Owen grinned. "Speaking of never staying long in one place...."
Owen raised his voice. "Hey, Sage! About time you showed up to class." Owen had never gotten a good enough impression of whether or not Sage liked him or not.
There had been a lot of awkward moments with rats when Owen was younger...speaking of them... Owen bent towards the ground and let the two rodents scamper off into the grasses before standing up again.
If only he could figure out why they came to him so often.

Ryo stares up in a blury daze. "school?! Oh darn... Guess I chose the wrong place to nap today huh? How's it been?" He asks through a wide yawn. Ryo begins to walk toward Owen at a snails pace.

Oendai grins at the older boys responce. "We're about to have class outside. We have a new instructor. His name is Roichi-sensei."
That reminded Owen of something.
"Hey, are you going to take the Genin exams this season? I mean, you ought to know enough to cover everything by now, right?"

Sage gets a slight start at the mention of the exams. " Next season?! Did I sleep through them?! My dad's going to kill me!" Sage becomes more alert at the mention of the new sensei. "Hey, I should get in on this huh?" Sage begins to stretch after letting out one last yawn.

Roichi walks out onto the grounds, and glances around at the scattered students. He sees the Grass kid speaking with another...older student. A profile came to mind: Sage Macedonus.
How was it possible that any student with such potential could waste his life away? Roichi would really have to do something to kick him into shape.
"All students: form up! I have an announcement to make!"
His eyes trains on the rather tallish youth. "And I mean all students."

Sage idles his way to the far side awaiting instructions. "I wonder what this is going to be like," he says to the fellow students around him. He lifts up his masamune and begins polishing it. "Lets have some fun!" He says enthusiasticly.

Kyoshima nodded in agreement, his wolf like grin spreading across his face. He said something to Kasai, who walked away, stopping a little ways from the group. Kyoshima fell into form with the rest of the students. It looked like alot of them didn't show up. He hoped that the sensai wouldn't put the blame on them. It wasn't as if he was going to force anyone to come. If they miss out on something, that's there fault. Right?

Syrius walks into the ground, somewhat resembeling a courtyard. He dropped his lunch pail and makes his way over to a patch of very healthy grass, the spot was unoccupied until Syrius had sitten down on it.

Roichi looks around at his expectant students. "I've decided that in my rather unorthodox fashion to give you guys a surprise exam! Especially as this is one of the rare occassions that I know I'll see several of you. Therefore, whoever is here, and opts to take the exam, and can, thusly, prove themselves: I'm prepared to make you Genin."
He glanced around with an odd smile on his face as he measures their reactions.
"Whoever wants to try the examination will step forward now."

Kyoshima twitched. Well...it might not benifit us directly, but atleast we can see what the other kids can do. Kasai nodded. Atleast now your learning to be more observant. Your showing a sign of maturity. Feh. Its not that now I'm becoming more observant....it's just that I don't want whatever squad leader to think I'm slow and withdrawn. Then we wouldn't get recommended for the good missions, would we? Kasai grinned. Whatever you say. Kyoshima raised his hand. "Oi. Sensai. Me and Owen won't suffer if we don't take it, sence we're already Genin, will we?"

Roichi glanced over at... was the kid's name Kasai...or was the wolf Kyo? Roichi cleared his throat as he was convinced he had it backwards somehow. "Actually, I know that each and everyone of you in this class is capable of being Genin, if you applied yourselves. In fact this test is not optional. And even though the pair of you have been accepted as Genin, you are still stuck here unless I sign you off. This written exam is just to see if you are qualified.
And before anyone asks why have the exam out here? I'll simply say that it's because I thought we could do with some fresh air." Roichi gives a smile at this.
He passes out the papers and some pencils. If he remembered having more students at one point, he assured himself that the school did have a reasonably decent percentage of drop-outs. Just because one could not be shinobi did not mean you could not be a functional member of society.
All the test sheets asked for a responce to an essay question: "What qualifies you to be shinobi?"
"You will write out your responces, then present them aloud."
