Sometimes classes aren't enough. That's where the sparring hall comes in.
Well, it's not really a sparring hall. It's more of a hall where students can safely practice spells. The walls have been charmed to be fireproof, lightningproof, waterproof, animalproof - anythingproof really. There's a a medic cabinet and a sink in two corners of the room, and the doors lock from both the inside and out, but never both at the same time. Plus, it's just across the hall from Professor Runesteam's classroom, and if you turn left outside the door, there's a staircase leading down directly to the nurse's office.
...On second thought, it's probably best to avoid injury, if those are your options.
So, fire away, dear students. Don't aim to injure, of course, because there are penalties for that. Severe ones.

Blake walked along the corridor with a book in his hand and a wand he was given in class. The first years were given new spells to go off and learn so he thought he might aswell attempt it straight away. He entered the hall and set the book down on the floor. He sat down infront of the book and opened it up. He flicked past the first few pages before finding the page he needed. He read though the spell twice before he rose his wand accordingly. He focused on his inner energy and channeled it through the wand. "Lumos" he whisperd before a flicker of light flashed on the tip of the wand. A smile grew across his face once he saw that it had slightly worked. The boy kept repeating the spell, the first 10 or so attempts ended up with small flickers before he got a small light. Nothing to big but it was a good start, after which he looked own at the book once more for the next spell. He read the pages and looked back upto his want. "Nox" he said before the light flickered again but did not stay off. It took him 5 times before he successfully turned his lumos off. "Jeez this stuff is going to be a tad more tricky then I thought," he said to himself.

 〖Қɪʟɪ Dσяαяя ※ Εҝαтεяɪɴα ※ ϒεαяⅠ〗Casual School Uniform Kili walked slowly into the room. Book and wand in hand. Her owl, Lenny fluttering behind her in tow. Though she read and read all the books she could inside her dorm, Kili was a little concerned about her actually skills in magic. To be honest, she never really performed much of it before. Most dwarves didn't really practice the skill, they just passed along whatever needed enchanting to an actual enchanter. At least where she grew up that is.
Kili sighed heavily before looking to see another person there. She watched him slightly before realizing what she was doing. She made sure to stand off to the side and open her book to over the spells for last week. Once she'd mastered the idea of "Lumos" and "Nox", she'd move onto the this weeks assignment of "Bump." Once more, she read the two spells in detail before and the instructions of how to cast. She closed the book and set it to the side. She closed her eyes and focused and trying to remembering the instructions clearly. "Lumos." she called out. A soft flicker of light grew on the end of her wand. Kili opened her eyes and the small smile began to grow against her face. She actually had pulled it off! She bit her lip, maybe shed try more times until had gotten the hang of it. After a few more attempts, her wand grew to a pretty descent light source in Kili's opinion. Now, to turn it off.
Lenny had grown quite bored perching and watching his owner practice the spell. But less when the light began to appear at the end of what he believed was a stick. He watched her a few more times to cast before growing bored again. He fluttered over to the boy and soared around him. Was this guy practicing too? Repeating the 2 spells over and over again before he could summon a good light source and turn it off. It was still relatively small but it was good for 20 minutes of practice. The hairs on Blake's neck rose before he turned round to see a girl enter the hall. He quickly looked away not wanting to make eye contact. He went back to practice for a while before looking back at her, not wanting her to realise he was watching. She must have been a first year if she was practicing the same spell. She seemed to be pretty good too. He also noticed the pet owl she had with her. "Aww, that owl is cute," he thought to himself. Forgetting he left Lumos active and that he was trying not to get caught spying on her.

〖Қɪʟɪ Dσяαяя ※ Εҝαтεяɪɴα ※ ϒεαяⅠ〗Casual School Uniform Kili remained unaware of the boy's watching. Instead, she stared down at he wand, watching it beam. To be honest, she was quite proud of herself in her accomplishment almost to where she didn't want the light to go out. She sighed softly knowing that she would have to, to get that grade she craved to get. "Nox.". Nothing happened. Kili frowned at the result. She knew shed have to focus more on the light actually going out instead of the same thing as Lumos. She took in a breath and closed her eyes and focused. "Nox." she repeated again. This time the light flickered but still remained. Kili frowned at the same results. What was she doing wrong? Not focusing enough? Not imagining it clearly? Not putting enough effort into it? This was beginning to tick her off but she knew it was something to be practiced more than the lighting spell. Kili groaned inwardly at the thought of never being able to accomplish the spell.
Lenny continued to soar over the boy's head, noticing he was watching Kili. He smirked at the inside of his beak and landed on the boy's head. Letting out a call to his owner. Kili, was not in the mood for Lenny's shenanigans. But she sighed heavily and glanced over to Lenny to see what the heck it was up to now. Her eyes widened and an angered flush ran across her cheeks. "Lenny! Get off him immediately!" The owl, amused, fluttered off his head and went about his merry way. Kili faceplamed. That owl- what was she going to do with it? She shook her head and went over to the boy, still flustered about her pet. "I'm sorry for my owl. He still has...manners..he's yet to learn." She looked off to the side and growled inward. That owl was going to get her in more trouble than it was worth one of these days.

Blake watched the girl as she attempted to turn her Lumos off with Nox. He noticed she was having a bit of difficulty. He did so until he felt something land on his head. He looked up and could guess it was the owl, laughing at the silly owl and getting up from his spot. He watched as the owl flew away and his smile faded slightly as he turned back to the girl. He did not mean to look so sad or awkward to most people. He did not know who to react around them. "Umm, that's ok. I like owls anyways, even if they land on my head," he said while his eyes shifted from the girl to the floor. He wondered if he could help her with Nox but he did not know how to ask and if it would seem like he was being rude.

〖Қɪʟɪ Dσяαяя ※ Εҝαтεяɪɴα ※ ϒεαяⅠ〗Casual School Uniform Kili looked up at the man with a raised brow. He actually didn't mind Lenny and his antics? Well that was a first. She looked him directly, wondering why he was fidgeting like when she had met Ella earlier. Then again, Ella was embarrassed at the time for a pretty good reason. Also, she was a girl. So, Kili couldn't compare them together. But still couldn't help but wonder what was wrong with him. Two outta three humans she had met today had all been acting uncertain of themselves in some shape. Was that normal? She could only wonder.
"Oh, that's good. But, he didn't try to pull out any of your hair any? Well that's a first. He'd always pull and tug on mine." Kili said with a sigh of relief. She didn't need anymore owl drama in her life. But Lenny was her owl after all, and she was surprised no one had gotten onto her about it yet. Or the way Lenny needed to be watched over.
Kili looked back down to her still-lit wand. Well, one problem down and onto the next. She hated the idea of asking someone else for help when it came to homework or studies, but she really couldn't figure out what she was doing wrong. And if the other student had already completed it, then what was there to lose? "H-Hey, you wouldn't have..completed the 'Lumos' and 'Nox' spell already, have you..?" Kili fidgeted out her question, eyes gazing downward.

Blake shook his head after Kili had asked about his hair. "Nope, he seems to be quite friendly," He said. He had started not to shift as much as he spent a bit more time with the two of them. It was after then he saw her wand was still lit up with Lumos. "She must be expending energy while that spell is still active," he thought to himself. He did not know if this spell in particular would be generally difficult to cast among the first years. He even wondered if there were others who were doing better than he did. It also felt like the right thing to do at this point by showing her how to use Nox successfully. "Yes I guess, I could even show you how to cast it properly" he offered. He looked back to Lenny as he flew about the room.

〖Қɪʟɪ Dσяαяя ※ Εҝαтεяɪɴα ※ ϒεαяⅠ〗Casual School Uniform Kili tilted her head. As long as he didn't "spoon-fed" her how to properly deactivate the spell, she would be happy. She sighed heavily and nodded her thanks to him. She quickly told him that shed be back in a second and went back to her belongs along the wall. She brought them back with her over to him. She wanted to learn as quickly as possible and didn't want to be a bother to him. Then it dawned on her. "Hey..that reminds me. I haven't even introduced myself as of yet. Im Kili. A first year in Ekat. My owl's Lenny. And you are?."she tilted her head in curiosity as Lenny perched down into her hair again. She rolled his eyes at his antics but was use to the feeling by now.

Blake smiled as she aggreed to take him up on his offer. He saw she needed help and now he could assist someone else. He waited patiently for her to grab her stuff and then come back. "Oh umm, I am Blake Costerdane," he said timidly. He then rose his wand after a few seconds of silence to show her. "What I did was focus on my inner energy and let it flow into the wand," he explained to her. He closed his eyes as he did so, letting it flow freely like a river into the wand. "Lumos," he commanded as the tip of the wand flickered for a moment before producing a nicely lit light. "And for Nox I did the same, making sure to concentrate only on the wand and to not force anything." he said. He looked down at the wand and did the same as he did for Lumos. He took a deep breath and said "Nox", letting the light flicker again before disappearing for good. He smiled and looked back up to her and Lenny. "I hope that helps," he said. Truth be told he was not even sure his methods would work for another student. He did not even realize his Lumos had improved since he last casted it.

〖Қɪʟɪ Dσяαяя ※ Εҝαтεяɪɴα ※ ϒεαяⅠ〗Casual School Uniform Kili nodded as Blake had introduced himself. He seemed like he knew what he was doing though he seemed nervous of his actions. Her eyes lit up as he activated his spells. It felt so different with someone else casting. As he casted then deactivated it, she listened very closely to what he had to say and tried her hardest to soaked the information in. Theres the problem..I was forcing out 'Nox' from the wand..wasn't I? she thought solemnly. It had to be the problem. From what she could tell anyways. She sighed heavily and nodded again as Blake finished his method behind the spell. "Alright, I'll give it a shot."
Kili sighed heavily and glanced down to her wand. Itd yet to stop shinning from it's former glow. Only on the wand. Kind of like sucking it back in maybe as well? Thatd be interesting.. she smiled slightly, chuckling at the thought. Enough funny business. She had to focus and get this right. "Nox." The end of her wand flickered. The light dimmed, but hadn't gone away fully. She tilted her head. She was proud of the improvement, but wished shed done better after gaining the valued advise.

Blake placed his wand in the inside pocket of his hoody and watched Kili try to use Nox again. It seemed to be going well at the start but the spell faltered and failed again. The boy frowned, "She seems to be doing it correctly, she is not forcing it and seems calm while casting the spell like the book suggests," he thought to himself. "Maybe try again, it does take a while to master" Blake admitted. Magic always needed alot of time and patience to master. And Blake made sure he was going to be patient with his studies.

〖Қɪʟɪ Dσяαяя ※ Εҝαтεяɪɴα ※ ϒεαяⅠ〗Casual School Uniform Kili face faltered. She hated not being able to preform like this. Detested even. She clenched her wand tightly to her side and nodded at what he had to say. He was right to say that it would take a lot of practice- especially for her case. In the back of her mind, she was wondering of he thought little of her for not being able to correctly cast this simple spell let alone the harder spells to come from the classes. She sighed heavily maybe she could practice with Ella and gets some tips from her later. Until then, shed have to work at magic day in and out. At least it was better than working a forge under the mountains. That was about the only good thing she could make out of the situation.
Kili snapped out of her rambling of thoughts to gaze back up to Blake. She bowed her head politely and spoke a still disheartened. "Thank you for your time then, and I'm sorry to waste any if I have. It was nice meeting you, Blake, but I don't think ill be using up much more of your time. I'll just have to continue practicing if that be the case. And..thank you again for the advice. I'm sure it'll come in handy shortly." Kili tried to force a small smile through her disappointment in herself.

Blake sighed, feeling kind of sad for her. He could see Kili was not happy about not being able to pull off Nox right away. "Well I hope it goes well for you, I know you can do it Kili," he said with a smile. Lenny hooted at that which made Blake giggle. "You can help her too Lenny" he said as he bent down to collect his books. He straightened up and waved at the girl and the owl. "Bye guys, thankyou for being so friendly" he said before turning and exiting the hall. Blake for the first tie had made friends which was strange and nice. He hoped he would see them again around the school.
