Hello, this will be my designated online dumping site for all "artwork" made by me while on my crusade to master my tablet. Huzzah! All critiques, corrections and otherwise comments are accepted and welcomed. heart Here is some non-digitized non-colorized (sometimes avi inspired) art I did and a couple pics from my RL sketchbook if you care to take a gander.

Holy Moly! My hands really hurt now...is that normal? I just had to stop...so I'm gonna call this a WIP emo I also got really bogged down trying to get all the layers to work...so I kind of just gave up towards the end. Bah, maybe I'll fix it one day.

So, I downloaded the free trail for PaintTool Sai and found that it is much easier to use than the program I was using before (SmoothDraw 3). I still have some shaky lines, but all in all this was a much faster piece than yesterday. I didn't really feel like drawing the face or the hands...right now I'm focusing on figuring out how to make smooth lines and what not. Its really frustrating because I can do that just fine on paper. The tablet is hard to use emo

Yes...well....maybe I should stick with much simpler colors since I'm just working on line work. My hands get so warn out I just make everything half-assed. I am well aware of the anatomical errors. I don't give a s**t.

Yay! I'm actually really happy with how this one turned out. I almost don't believe that I did this one and the one above the same day....Now, if only I could figure out how to give her some pixy dust..... Pixy dust! I really like it. It gives her a nice glow. ALT:

I was working on drawing faces better instead of the choppy manga style like the previous one.

Hey there! You mentioned that you wanted your lines to be smoother with your tablet (think? o.o) and they did! Your most recent lines you posted are much smoother than the ones you started posting, that's great that you made progress with that so quickly. ^^ There's still a couple little rough edges at the end of lines but I'm sure you'll keep improving with your control no problem.
I think you should spend a little more time with colouring however. You are good at choosing complementing colours but there could be a little more depth and precision to your colouring. :3
And yes..I have noticed after drawing for a while that my hand will hurt. gonk That can be a good thing though because you can go do something else and come back to your drawing later with a fresh perspective. ^^

Wow! Thanks both of you! I'm happy with how quickly I'm getting used to my tablet. After the silly little girl with the teddy bear yesterday i was very disheartened. But yes, I do need to work on my coloring, but for now I'm really just trying to get smoother lines. Once I'm back up to my pencil skill level, I'll move onto coloring. I've had next to no practice with coloring....like...ever. rofl

I know getting used to a tablet can be tricky, the hand moves but you can't see what you are drawing in your lap or on the desk. It feels strange to draw one place and have it show up in another. One trick that may help speed up the process which is a popular sketch technique for figure drawers is to not even look at your paper at all. Just keep your hand moving to draw the basic shapes and gesture for two to five minutes. Try it out with paper first for a bit, see how it goes. It helped my brain fill the disconnect gap between tablet and my screen. Muscle memory of what a smooth line or gesture is do the work for me.

Hey there! ^^ The hands and feet on the second to last drawing turned out pretty good. ^^ Hands and feet are usually pretty hard to draw and a lot of people do try to hide/avoid them so I wouldn't take it to heart too much if people comment on stuff like that. 3nodding Some quick advice for your most recent drawing of the elf girl. Your lines are smooth but they aren't really connecting in some places or flowing well together but I'm sure you can see that. Don't be afraid to overlap lines and go back to erase anything extra. Also concerning extras, I think you should try to be a little looser with your sketches, it looks like you are 'petting' your lines, by that I mean you are going over the same small area many times while not really achieving much extra from it. It's ok to have sloppy sketches but I think if you tried to be more fluid with your line economy it would be more helpful in the long run. I hope that makes sense. Also be careful with that hand holding the weapon, use a ref or your own hand if you need to. ^^
