Skyblivion & Skywind

I would first like to explain to you all what a mod is, so there is no confusion. In the gaming world you have 2 types of mods, you have the moderators and then you have the modification of a game. For this posting we will be talking about the later, some times called player made mods, where players use creation tools to make modifications to games. Bethesda has a long tradition of allowing there fan base to make modifications to there games such as The Elder Scrolls with a single condition, the mods made must be posted for download for FREE, no mod will be sold for cash. often these "mods" add in cheats, or change the stats of items, they may add in new npc's (none playable characters). Some add extra features into a game.

There are two full feature mods being created for skyrim with the soul purpose of recreating Morrowind and Oblivion (the two games that where released before skyrim and take place before the skyrim story line) with Skyrim's creation engine. The goal is to make Morrowind and Oblivion have the same quality and level of graphics that Skyrim had raised the bar too.

Both Skyblivion and Skywind are being made by two different moding groups (moding groups are groups of moders who work togeather to make outstanding mods, such as the rumored Lord of the Rings mod that got shut down by the copy right holder for Tolkien's master peace.) and there has been no word from either group on any public release date, however Skywind's team has stated they will be releasing a public beta, but has not gone into any real details about what they mean by a public beta release.

There has been some talk out there, approving of Skywind but giving Skyblivion a lot of flak, "why make a skyrim based remake of oblivion, the weakest game in the T,E,S, series? " Well I don't know about that, Oblivion was the game that got me into the Elder Scrolls, and Morrowind was nothing but confusing to me, running around the land of Morrowind with no clue where I was going or what I was supposed to do, Meaning I have to constantly drop the game down to look at the games guide on The unofficial Elder Scrolls Wiki Pages. So its safe to say I cannot wait for an Oblivion remake with Skyrim graphics.

1.) 08/21/2014 03:00 New update on the Skywind mod. Skywind Exploration Game Demo A 13 minute demo video has been released, and looks like a good watch. The video is, for the most part, a filmed game play footage of a random actor roaming around the landscape of Morrowind, displaying all the work done to recreate the region with Skyrim's graphics. No word yet on the Skyblivion mod.

Who doesn't? But what do you think about this skyrim based remakes?

Well, I highly recommend Oblivion, While some claim the game was the weakest of the last 3 instalments, it did introduce us to the modernized thieves and assassins guild as seen in Skyrim. That and in Skyrim, there are countless references to Oblivion.
