it's not really the genre for me so much as the quality of the entire anime/manga
snk's awesome, everything about it is sick nasty extreme and they don't pull any of that gender role business like there's even a non-binary character how cool is that
also i'm participating in big bang 2k14 later this month for pandora hearts since i've been into that for a few years it's got crazy conspiracies and magicky mambo jumbo and a really interesting cast of characters i basically love it a lot

Wow, that goes a whole lot deeper into the interest then just listing what's popular. I really can appreciate that 3nodding Wait, Whats Big Bang? It sounds fascinating.

it can be yeah, but I think artists have it easier well provided their author stays on the ball about keep them in the loop it's tricky sometimes with rl junk but the payoff is usually worth it

My favorite animes are Excel Saga, Shuffle!, Cowboy Bebop, Full Metal Alchemist, Trigun, Inuyasha, Dragon Ball. I really haven't seen a lot of animes compared to how much I love them. xD I never date guys who like anime so I never watch it anymore.. ooff. Edit: Oh, haha.. spaced that I quoted you both at once. xD Clarice that's really interesting. And I'd love to see more of your art!

Yeah, Adult Swim is what really got me into anime. I'm so glad they showed good animes for us Americans, haha. I used to be in love with Inuyasha. Every time he saved Kagome (sp?) I would yell at her for not kissing him. Or yell at her for making him sit. Haha. I wanted to be her and throw myself at him. xD I didn't like Dragon Ball Z as much as the original but I was in love with adult Goku as well.. xD I had pics of him in my folders for school. I made up a story where I was Sailor Moon and I met Goku and we fell in love.. damn it still sounds good. Haha. Don't tell my boyfriend. xD

I tend to go for typical shonen action series. You know, lots of mindless fighting, one-upping each other, "This isn't even my final form", that kind of thing. But, when that kind of stuff gets dull, I'll go for pretty much any fantasy or sci-fi stuff that grabs my attention. Really the only genre I can't stand is realistic stuff. Even when it comes to romance, there has to be some kind of magic element to get my full attention.
And then there's the stuff on a completely different level. The stuff like Death Note and Code Geass where the entire plot is a giant chess game and everything is so intense right up until the very last second when everything ties together in the most beautiful finale ever thought up and the main villain/protagonist is a chessmaster who controls both sides of the board and every other character is just a pawn in their perfect scheme. Of course, the anime I'm talking about is an absolutely beautiful but unfortunately overlooked work called Gankutsuou, which is the anime rendition of the famous novel by Alexandre Dumas, "The Count of Monte Cristo". Honestly I will recommend both the novel and the anime to anyone who will take the time to listen to me because they are both phenomenal and I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever stop fangirling about Gankutsuou. Ever.

When i was little, I had to watch it secretly. emotion_facepalm My brother and i shared a room and i felt so embarrassed about liking an anime that seemed to be mostly for boys. So everytime an episode came on, I pretended to be sleeping. Turns out he knew the whole time sweatdrop I learned to branch out 3nodding

Actually I've heard of that novel. I will watch Gankutsuou if I can find it online and if I like it I'll read the book. If I can't find the movie I'll go right for the book. But I just started something so it may be awhile. I only get to read at work really right now. I like Death Note. But I've only seen the first few episodes.
