Appearance: A dark but easy going guy, Mercer tends to dress in loose, black clothing. He has mastered solidifying into a human form, but pays little attention to his own shadow, causing it to shift and change randomly, somethings even lifting off the ground and swirling around him. He has a bit of a punk look about him, but he's a pretty nice guy. Also wears sunglasses anywhere that is brighter than a dim lightbulb.
Act: The lights are off around him, and he uses his shadows to remove any excess light save for a blank white screen. He then shapes shadows to create dazzling displays and scenes for the audience, providing sound effects and music through a mix of recordings and his voice.
Personality: Easy going and out to have some fun. The circus has always been a source of excitement for Mercer, so much so that as an early shade he haunted the place, so when he was able to create a physical form, he joined up immediately. He had a tendency to get a little clingy to friends, but he means well. He is a little afraid of the Ringmaster, but still finds him incredibly fun to be around.

Dislikes: Bright light, people who are too serious, people who fear him for being a shade.

Background: Mercer is a shade, a creature composed almost entirely of shadow. In his early years, much like his fellow shades, he hid in dark corners and tried to avoid contact with other creatures. However, one day, he happened across a circus (not the same as the circus in the RP) and was amazed by the acts, the people, and more importantly, how happy everyone was. He spent years finding out how to create a physical body for himself, and eventually succeeded and joined the circus until it closed. When the first circus closed, he moved on until he found the current Greatest Show Unearthed, where he has stayed. He wears baggy clothes as they proved some dark space inside to hide from the light if necessary, and in case his body starts releasing bits of shadow. When angry or upset, Mercer loses the ability to maintain colors, so he becomes a grayscale version of himself until he calms down.
