A sheet of 8.5” x 11” white paper is folded in threes inside of an envelope. The return and mailing address are scrawled in black ink on the front and the closure was wetted so much that the paper became wavy. Hopefully it was jus tap water and not slobber. The writing inside wasn’t much better. It was a mix of cursive and printing, but at least the lines of writing were straight.
- Dear Professor,
oooooEver since moving here, I haven’t been doing much. I said I was going to quit the Pokemon Center back at Ambrette Town, but they were nice enough to give me an extended leave if I promised to bring them back lots of souvenirs and delicacies from Elovve. Is that allowed, or are they top secret as well? Do you think the Pokemon Centers here would let me work part time for them while on my journey? I don’t want to live off of a diet of crackers and tap water for my time here. Mato town’s been treating me well, but I’ve yet to run into any other trainers with eggs. Maybe I'll go to that city hall meeting with Assistant Aspen. I hope the other egg from when I picked up my egg is doing alright as well.
oooooI’ll figure something out, Professor. Don’t you worry. I’ll starve before I let a Pokemon starve. Ever since I got this egg (the name Molly has stuck for the past few days) I haven’t been able to sleep properly during the nights. I’m not the most… well how do you say this, gentle when I sleep. I’ve tried sleeping with her on a small pillow fort next to my bed, but when I wake up, her shell is cold to the touch. I always thought that eggs were to allow for the growth of an embryo to a mature pokemon, but apparently they can see and feel what is going on outside of them. Molly seems to like sleeping in my arms more than on pillows. Her shell is always warm when she’s in my arms, but I can’t tell if that’s because I’m transferring body heat or if she’s the one making it. I hope she hatches soon so I can go back to sleeping lying down and not sitting upright. It really puts a toll on your back after a few nights.
oooooFinneon aren’t native to Kalos, so I’ve never really read up on them until now. Trainers rarely bring them in. I often see fishermen with magikarp and the occasional gyarados though. Eevees are commonly found just a bit further than Cyllage City, so I’ve seen quite a few of them. I wonder if Molly will be more eevee or more finneon. Apparently, finneon are supposed to store light in their stripe and glow during the night. I wonder what purpose that’s for. Does it ward off predators or are they like plants and take in the light for a source of energy? Molly seems to really like the sun and being outdoors. I often take her out to the lake or shore near here. She twitches a little when she touches the cold water though. I wonder if she’ll grow up to appreciate what the sea has to offer as well. I wonder if she’ll be aquatic, terrestrial, or amphibious. It seems a bit weird to me to fuse a Pokemon that is generally kept on land and a Pokemon that is aquatic. It’d be nice if she enjoyed surfing trips with me, but I guess if she doesn't like getting her feet wet, I’ll be locked to the land for some time until she gets more comfortable or is independent enough for me to leave to an hour or two to surf.
Expect lots of questions,

Liam Watkins
