One dark night, the vampire Locke was out on the prowl. He captured a family of four, killing them all except for a special eight year old boy named Nykyrian. This boy wanted to avenge his family's deaths and promised to become a vampire hunter. Ten years later, he was a professional vampire slayer by the name of Syn. Locke watched Nykyrian grow up for the decade and decided the first day he saw him that he'd make him his own, which is why he was allowed to live. Now that Nykyrian was an adult, Locke went after him, posing as a human and hiding his fangs, and asked him out on a date.

Locke watched as Nykyrian grew up. It didn't take long for him to hit adult age, although the boy may have been grown long before then. He even watched as he became 'Syn', but that didn't matter, he could easily hide his fangs and bloodlust. He waited until Nykyrian was out and about one day, at a store buying groceries, and "accidentally" bumped into him. He looked at the smaller boy with mild surprise, "Oh, sorry."
