For millennia, the sky city nation of Skyrn held dominance over the sky realms. Peace ruled amongst the creatures of the air and the sky realms prospered.
Until one day where the High Priestess, the controller of the magic that holds Skyrn together vanished, taking the globe of levitation with her.
The city started to fragment, pulling on the bonds that held the islands together. Some of the outlying islands also started to loose height and it wasn't until one fell from the to the distant lands below that the ruler of the civilians, High Lord Marcus decided to do something about it.
Summoning Skyrn's greatest heroes, he called them all to help.

Player: Pantherae_enigma Character name: Acar Race: Djinn Class: Battlemage Speciality: Destructive, enhancing and warding spells, hitting things with his big sword Description: Acar is a human looking person from the waist up, except that his skin is a deep blue. From the waist down, his form dissipates into mist. A wide belt circles his waist, so no one can see where his body ends and starts to dissipate. His wide curving blade sits in a special, magical sheath on his back, which allows him to pull it off quickly. His belt holds many pouches and a couple of wands, everything that he needs for his battle spells. Acar is focussed and dedicated to the study of magic and bettering himself. He sees any chance to prove himself and his magic as an opportunity to push his boundaries. While he has a sense of humour, he doesn't show it. His voice is deep, his eyes dark grey and serious. Whenever he casts spells, his aura springs to life, surrounding him in an opaque blue light. If he focuses, he can form his aura into magic armour. Anything else: Acar is an adventurer and has been to the ground below. As such, he has a much wider knowledge base than many of the other residents of Skyrn. While he is an accomplished swordsman, he much prefers to use his magic. As such, he imbues his weapon with various spells to help compensate for what he doesn't know.
Player: DarkScarlettVixen Character name: Seraphina Race: Gryphon Class: Mage Speciality: Absorbing energy and repurposing it, usually in the form of fire, heat, or light Description:Sera rarely shifts into her human form. In fact, while she's known Acar for some time, he's never seen it directly. He's seen a silhouette but that's it. Anything else: Sera met Acar on an assignment and blocked another mage from using one of the infamous bottles to capture Acar and destroyed the bottle. She never told Acar about that part because she didn't want him to feel indebted to her but she's fond of him so she sticks around.
Player: blue_lutra Character name: Iah'ryn Race: Angelic Class: Engineer Speciality: alchemy, arithmancy, herbologist Description: Iah'ryn is tall and willowy with silver and copper feathered wings that reach from his shoulder blades almost to his ankles. His skin is tan and his cropped hair bleached by the sun to a silvery white. His shoulders hunch from being bent at tables and in gardens. Iah'ryn wears simple, blue- and grey-toned clothing and carries a satchel filled with books and an odd array of items he deems necessities. Anything else: Though he prefers studying and acadamia, Iah'ryn can hold his own in a fight with trickery and tools. He has no actual magical ability, but makes up for it with an array of potions, objects, and the knowledge of how to best benefit from his surroundings. Regretfully, Iah'ryn is terribly afraid of falling to the ground below and does all he can to forget how far it is.

Acar made his way to the city council, which High Lord Marcus ruled over, though people rarely went to him directly for anything, as he was little more than a figurehead. The battlemage rarely cared for such petty distinctions of council members, rulers or anyone in charge though. If it was within his interested to help, which this was, then he would help. He only hoped someone with more knowledge of magical flight would be present, as while he could fly with the aid of innate magic, he wasn't one to study it. His interests lay in much more destructive magics than levitation.
Seeing one of his few friends Seraphina waiting for him on the steps of the council, he nodded to her and made his way to her side. "The High Lord wants to wish us safe journey, though I know not why. It would make sense if we just started investigating now than wasting time with formalities."

Sera's tail flicked from one side to the other as she waited for Acar. She was secretly amused that most people going up and down the stairs gave her a wide birth as they passed. She did not move aside from her tail even when she caught sight of who she was waiting for. Standing finally when he drew even with her, she arched her back in a very feline stretch as if she'd been waiting for a long time,Politics. Annoying....and annoyingly necessary to you bipedal lot. The rumbling, distinctly feminine voice in his head was tinged with amusement. Even for a gryphon she was massive, her shoulder coming to just above his diaphragm, Come along, let's get this over with. I can only hope that something helpful will come of this meeting. She turned and headed up the steps.

Acar glanced down at the mists supporting his torso. "You keep forgetting that I am not a bipedal dear Searphina. And I agree, politics are troublesome and I do not understand the need for them either."
Floating his way up the stairs, the guards opened the doors to the council chambers for the pair. Sera's hoof steps echoed around the now empty chamber as they made their way to Marcus's private chambers. Pushing the door open without knocking, he floated into the large office. "You summoned?" He asked the seated lord.
"I did. I am giving you, Seraphina and whoever you deem nessecary permission to enter the High Priestesses residence and her private areas of the Holy Temple. Take this scroll with you, it has my authority on it." Acar took the scroll and glanced at the writing on it. "Do either or you have questions?" The High Lord asked.

Sera sat down, her tail curling around her front talons,Yes, I'm wondering why we had to get the warrant directly from him? The Magistrate could have given it to us easily enough. She commented to Acar. Most of her communication was silent to others, this aside was no different. Aloud, she growled, "We are honored that you would directly handle such a minor errand, my Lord. But I wonder if there are any questions or concerns you had for us."

The High Lord looked startled for a moment before nodding his head to the Gryphon. "I do have some concerns, but mainly I suspect that the High Priestess and the orbs going missing to be part of a larger plot against all of us who live in the city. I suspect that you will need to start on the ground." He pulled open a drawer in his desk and pulled a small orb out, similar to the levitation orbs, which he confirmed a moment later. "This is a mirror of the larger orbs that are missing and is made from the others, so, if you can find a way to enhance the affinity between them, it may act as a magnet to the others and may help you."
Acar took the orb and studied it for a moment. "And why didn't you think of this earlier?" he asked in his blunt way.
"Because this was merely meant to be a toy or a trinket and isn't powerful enough to lift more than a person. If you can enhance the affinity, then it may be useful." The High Lord ran a hand over his face, haggard lines showing around his eyes. "Look, I'm not sure what can be done, but the entirety of Skyrn rests in finding those orbs and the Priestess."
"You got any other questions Seraphina?" Acar said, pocketing the small orb into a small magical bag on his waist. "If not, lets see if anyone else has gathered and make our way."

She shook her large head, No. I think I know who could help us with the orb, though. She pointed out thoughtfully to Acar alone. To the High Lord, she executed a bow, "Thank you for your time and the lead, my Lord." She rumbled.

Acar nodded and bowed to the High Lord. "By your leave," he said, barely waiting long enough for Marcus to bow his head before turning to leave. "Shall we, Seraphina?" he said, waving a hand for her to follow him.
As they left the building, Acar gave Seraphina a sideways look. "You think you have some idea of how to proceed?" he asked. "I don't really have a huge amount of knowledge in regards to levitation magic. What I do is just natural for me."

She followed Acar out, Daystar will want to take a look at it. I don't know if she'll join us but she will help with this, I'm sure, or she will know who we need to go to. She replied, glancing at the young page who had pressed against the wall as they passed. He didn't look particularly scared, mostly awed. Returning her attention to her partner, she glanced over at him, It's been awhile since I've visited anyway.
Daystar was one of the oldest dragons and unlike her kind at that age, she actually liked being around other beings. She was also uncannily accurate as to when they were going to visit her because always had Acar's favorite food ready for him. She'd been offered countless positions in society but had turned them all down, preferring instead to either teach magic or perform certain tasks for a modest or unusual fee. But the most extraordinary thing about Daystar was that she was blind, or at least, traditionally blind.

Acar nodded. Daystar was indeed the most likely being to help them and know anything about levitation magic. Being a creature with wings herself, Acar suspected that what knowledge she had was likely to have been learnt, but that didn't worry him. What he was looking forward to was something that he couldn't get in the floating city, his favourite food, bananas.
"It has also been a while since I've visited Daystar," he said as the pair took flight and headed towards the elder dragons cave. The dragon had her own floating island, this one held up by different magic than the magic that generally held up Skyrn. She'd never told Acar how she had her own floating island, but he suspected something akin to a spell to lighten the earth and a focussed updraft.

She was standing outside the entrance to her caves when they arrived. Dressed comfortably in a long simple dress with a loose belt and bare feet. Her silver hair, which reached all the way down to her ankles hung loose like some kind of cape. She smiled happily, pale green eyes, absent of pupils warming. Despite the fact that she was blind, many would report that she seemed to "focus" on them at one time or another, not to mention she was extremely independent for someone who was missing a major sense, "I'm so glad you could make it." She gently touched Sera's head and lightly patted Acar's chest with a small, delicate looking hand, "I tried out a new recipe; I hope you like it." Her home was a veritable labyrinth of caverns but she navigated confidently and Acar and Sera's acute senses would pick up the sweet smell of bananas and cinnamon.

The Djinn took a deep breath, smelling the wonderful scents coming from in the cave. He was glad that he had made a friend of the blind dragon, not only for her food and cooking, but for her wisdom and sage advice he received from her. She was as much of a friend to him as Sera was, as they had both earned his respect and that was something he didn't give lightly.
"Thank you Daystar," he said, bowing and following her into her comfortable caverns. "It certainly smells wonderful."
They entered one of the largest caverns in her complex, the one where she spent most of her awake time and where she received all her visitors. Shelves with books and scrolls, trinkets and potions lined a wall, a kitchen on another and various tables and chairs filling the rest of the space. Today, instead of the many comfortable reading chairs, there were four comfortable looking dining chairs around a low coffee table, with room for Sera and Acar to stand/float near the table. A large bowl of sweets, something the elder dragon seemed fond of, sat on the low table.
