Dear Professor,
Do you know what I have realized about pokemon eggs in the last week? They roll around... a lot. I don't know if this is typical or if it's just that Kelby is very energetic. It was all right at first, she would stay put and I could go about and do things I needed a free hand or two for, but the last couple of days every time I looked to lay her egg down and turn away for a second, it would find it's way out of the little nest I made. After the third near miss, I've stopped laying her on tables or beds or really anything that is any distance up.
Though the floor is only a little better. This morning after I woke up she had worked her way under the bed and I had to crawl under it to pull her out. I'm really looking forward to her hatching, then at least if she gets into something she will probably be able to get out of it on her own... I hope so at least.
Though she does seem a little calmer if I talk to her. Maybe she likes the sound of my voice? Or can they even hear anything in the eggs? I guess it's kind of obvious that I've never had to take care of an egg before. This is the first time I've been any closer to one than on the other side of incubator glass, or in a trainer's hands. I was told by one trainer that eggs were easy to take care of, just don't drop'em he'd told me... then mine nearly rolls off the bed...
Since I can't leave Kelby's egg sitting on its own any more, while I do other things. I've started wandering around town with her. (I refuse to go outside of town with nothing but an egg for protection from wild pokemon. That just sounds stupid.)
Mato town is pretty nice, it's a lot quieter then I'm use to, but that's a good change. Most of the time I'll end up at the park watching the pokemon play with each other or with their trainers.
I was surprised how much you could learn from just watching. Ideas for games, different techniques for how to train your pokemon, don't stare at the old woman on the bench or her pokemon too long, she may decide you're a creeper and come and try to beat you over the head with her purse... (That turned out all right though, I just told her I was sorry and that her pokemon was really cute and she decided I wasn't so bad after all and left me alone.)
I'm really looking forward to when Kelby hatches so that we can try out some of the things I saw together. (and so that I can go to the park and not get looked at weird) And even if I am a bit nervous about whether I'm going to be able to train her well, I'm absolutely sure that we are going to get along amazingly well in the end.

After scribbling his name on the bottom of the lined paper, he looked up... just in time to see his egg teetering on the edge of the far end of the bench. With a cry of alarm he dove after it catching it just before it tumbled off into the loose rocks that surrounded them.
Jarek breathed a sigh of relief as he cradled the egg once more. "You scare ten years off of my life every time you do that." He told the egg which seemed to tremble in response to his words.
He shook his head then looked around for the notebook he had been writing in only to see it sitting in a puddle. He picked it up by the corner and watched the ink run across the page with a frown. "Now look what you did. I have to rewrite the whole thing, and I'm out of paper." He said giving his egg a dirty look. This time there was no response. With an aggravated sigh he tossed the soggy mess into the nearest trash can and headed to the pokemart to buy more paper and see if he could still get this letter in on time.
