What is your name? Joan Archer Do you have a preferred name? Joan How old are you? 17 What is your gender? Female Where are you from? Hearthome City, Sinnoh
SECTION 2-A What do you look like? Like, totally awesome! Got the perfect tan, soft brown eyes, and green hair vivid enough to make people think I'm a grass-type trainer! It's too bad a certain pokemon keeps trying to eat my hair but that's besides the point. Hey, even though I've got pierced ears maybe I should get a nose ring? Or maybe a lip ring? What do you think? Hey! Are you listening?! Oh, wait, I'm writing this down aren't I? Oh Genesect cannons.
What is your style of clothing? Lemme let you in on a secret: you don't need to blow your paycheck in expensive stores to look good. Ever been to a second-hand store? Don't give this paper that look! Just chuck it in the wash several times and if you're THAT paranoid bleach it a bit and cry over how fast you just murdered the fabric and color. You can find some awesome-looking things there!
...But yeah if anyone asks I order all my things online. Because you can't buy being FAB★U★LOUS.
SECTION B
Tell us about yourself. The name's Joan -- Joan Archer. I knew every inch of seven of Hearthome City's malls and shopping districts and I can smell a deal a mile away!
...Wow that sounded ridiculous. Let me just try that again.
People say I'm loud and obnoxious but come on! How else do you expect to be heard? You gotta give it your all, y'know? Holding back and keeping low isn't any fun, and honestly, let me ask er write you this: what do you got to lose by holding it in? Live with no regrets!
Though, uh, maybe not exactly no regrets. Ever scooped pokemon road apricots for an entire month while wearing the unflattering park duds of Amity Square? Trust me you don't want to do it. Lesson learned boss!
How did you hear about this project? Even though in some regions kids can leave the house as early as 10 years old, by Archer house rules I'm not yet old enough to be on my own just yet. And since the Archer House Overlords were the ones who were offered the job on Evolve, guess who came along as part of the indentured servitude package? Nerd-isle Ahoy!
Why did you decide to volunteer for this project? Archer House Overlords believed an egg would teach the Amazing Joan Archer Responsibility and Maturity.
The Great and FAB★U★LOUS Joan Archer would love nothing more than to have the ultimate cute pokemon! Cute pokemon are the ultimate accessories that you can accessorize too! Accessoriception!
That and I need to pay my brother back for all the times his overgrown weed of a pokemon attempted to eat my hair thinking it was grass. Revenge is coming, brother mine.
What is your main goal/what do you wish to achieve from this project? Joan's Plans for Elovve Domination: 1) Get a job that doesn't involve shoveling things. 2) Spend money to rebuild now-decimated wardrobe and accessories. 2) Realize that an island full of nerds scientists very likely don't have a mall. 3) Cry about it online to complete strangers. 4) Realize there's no internet. your favorite online merchant doesn't ship to Elovve. 5) Cry about that in a Pelipper letter to BFFs back in Sinnoh and attempt to beg/bribe them to purchase things through them and forward on via Dragonite. 6) Realize that there's a city with a giant open air market. 7) Make plans to somehow get to said market. 8.) Consider the life of a pokemon trainer. 9) Train said cute pokemon, beat annoying brother who is currently out on a pokemon journey in another region, steal his lunch money. 10) Realize that you don't exactly have a future plan, repeat step #3, then consider making said future plan.
Are you afraid? Of what? Seriously. You need to be a bit more specific.
...Unless you're talking about pokemon that are larger then me then yes please give me a moment to spray myself down with repel ugh ugh ugh ANOTHER REASON TO HAVE A POKEMON please tell me the cute small ones can chase the bigger ones away ugh I'm getting anxious just thinking about it
HEY.
You better not be getting ideas from this! Just for that I'm going to strike this section out! HA!
There. And for the record no I'm not I'm looking forward to it and don't you dare read what I scratched out I ran out of white out and forgot to make a back-up photocopy of this form before sending it off okay?!
Geeze, just give me points for honesty already.

Expanded Profile:
Name: Joan Archer Nickname: Joan Age: 17 Gender: Female Hometown:Hearthome City, Sinnoh Elovve Location: Mitokhan City xxxxxThe largest city in Elovve. Mitokhan is the major supplier of electricity and building materials of the region. It uses windmills and watermills to generate electricity, and a powerplant pumps it across the land. There is a Electric-type gym here. Skin Tone: Tan Eye Color: Brown Hair Color: Dark Green (somewhere between #336633 and #336666) Hair Length: Long, falls to mid-back Piercings: Ears Stereotype: Mall Rattata (like, all right!)
Clothing Style: PokeMart Job: White button-up blouse, black tie, black slacks, tennis shoes.
Off the Job: Heels that make her look taller, colorful shirts, dark jeans and skirts, the occasional flashy leggings, and a minimum of at least five different accessories ranging from bracelets to earrings to necklaces and the occasional anklet depending on what shoes she's wearing that day.
Personality: Joan's biggest concern in life isn't whether or not her crush will fly in on the back of a shiny Articuno and whisk her away from this island in who knows where that her parents dragged her to. She's not even worried about whether or not her new boss will finally catch onto the fact that she hasn't yet finished stocking the shelves completely -- Look, just give her five more minutes to finish reading this -- what do you mean put it back?! She just got to the good part! UGH!
Her number one priority is herself. Can she wear this and look good? Is the boss looking her way? No? Awesome! While her forethought doesn't extend that far in the future, Joan's immediate goal is to have a good time so long as it won't bite her too hard later. While it's great to catch up on the latest celebrity gossip, it is so not happening if Mr. Boss Man is in a bad mood and looking for an excuse to assign her poke-shoveling duty. She had enough of that in Amity Square thanks!
When push comes to shove, Joan's first reaction is to brace herself and say the first thing that comes to mind before her thought process can catch up. While it certainly doesn't work out for her most of the time, Joan isn't one to cry over spilled milk. That won't stop her from whining over it for the next few days however.
Joan also participates in morning yoga exercises in order to one day become flexible enough to literally be able to put her foot in her mouth.
When she's not agonizing over the pains of being a teenager, Joan is quite fascinated by small pokemon. Anything bigger than her usually prompts her to hide behind the nearest person for protection. She admires those that aren't intimidated by large pokemon to the point where she'll do her best to watch what she says and how she acts. After all, that person could totally convince that giant pokemon to eat her.
Family: Brother - Still in Sinnoh, has a Torterra. Most likely hanging around Pastoria City being a Crasher Wake fanboy. Mother - Scientist; specialization is a mystery due to Joan never paying attention. Father - GruntIntern Low on the Totem Pole. Assists in taking care of various pokemon. Likely taking at home courses on Pokemon Health Care. Pet Pokemon - Francis the Bibarel. A rolly-polly spoilt non-battling pokemon that is forever banned from Joan's room after it lovingly shed hair all over her clothes.
Occupation: PokeMart Employee, part time. Job Responsibilities: Cashiering, item restocking, giving out deliveries to traineers for said delivery, window washing, wondering if trainers completed the deliveries or opened said deliveries before making the delivery and taking whatever was inside it, y'know. The usual.
Possible Pokemon Data to Acquire: Emphasis on small "cute" pokemon~
Buneary/Lopunny Joltik Rattata Nidorian (No preference between male/female) Cottonee/Whimsicott Sentret/Furret or Zigzagoon/Linoone Shinx/Luxio/Luxray Murkrow/Honchkrow
Hey, Maru! I just finished reading over Joan's profile and I think it's good so far, but I have a few questions to ask you.
I find myself a little confused about Joan's personality. In my opinion, it seems that she has some traits that are conflicting. I think she could use some more expansion on both her good and bad characteristics. Below, I'll break down my questions of Joan's character and you can help me (and other readers) to better understand Joan by answering them.
-Fashion Fanatic: I understand that Joan has a strong sense of style, she enjoys taking the time to find fashion resources, and makes sure that she's coordinated with the latest trends. I imagine that all of this effort is going toward making Joan stand out of the crowd by ensuring her appearance is unique. The trait that conflicts this though is her fear of being judged by others. Could you possibly elaborate on why Joan chooses to dress in a way that draws attention to herself, if she is so worried about receiving a negative reception by her peers? Why does she crave this attention in the first place?
-Play Hard, Work Less: Joan has chosen a career path that earns her money with a minimal amount of effort on her part. This is completely fine, but what I find harder to grasp is that she seems to openly display this trait that others may find negative with a "lazy and self-righteous sense of apathy" as you stated. Again, this conflicts with her fear of being judged by others. Could you explain why Joan purposefully slacks off while working? If working harder would earn her a promotion and therefore a higher salary, then why does Joan choose to take the opposite path? You also said that Joan intends to use her current paychecks to fund her future career as a pokemon coordinator. Once more I see that she is choosing to go down a road that will lead to fame, but she doesn't seem to display the work ethic that will get her there. Is Joan doing anything else that will lead her to her goal of becoming a coordinator, aside from saving money to later on buy clothes and accessories for contests? Does she have any natural talents or learned skills that will help her make that goal a reality? I feel that this part of her profile could become more clear with more information.
-Good Girl/Bad Girl: Lastly, the part that I found the most difficult to understand was Joan's apparent 'teenage rebellious phase'. You said that she is struggling between acting as others expect her to and following her own feelings. There isn't sufficient information on who has expectations of Joan (aside from possibly her parents), and what those expectations are. Who is asking Joan to 'behave' and why does she feel the need to 'misbehave'? How is she fighting against the standards that she doesn't necessarily want to meet? I believe that fashion may be her outlet, but could you explain why in Joan's mind dressing in atypical clothes helps her to be rebellious? Are there any examples of a time when Joan did meet someone else's expectations (or tried to) but it conflicted with her personal feelings? What, if any, are the morals/values/etc. that Joan holds in high regard but others might not? How does she respond to situations where her personal values may come into conflict with the requests or expectations of others?
Overall, I think that Joan is both an interesting and unique character. I would love to know your answers to these questions and look forward to seeing further expansion of Joan's profile. If you need any more help with revision of Joan's profile (or any future characters) feel free to quote me or any other staff member. We would be more than willing to help you fit your character seamlessly into the shop's story.
Answering all of the questions above is not necessary, but considering them as you write Joan's profile will help make it easier for other players to understand the type of character that you are portraying. It is highly encouraged that you expand on Joan's personality traits to meet this goal.

Thank you for the feedback! The initial "idea" for Joan was for her to be a teenager stuck between peer pressure and doing what she wanted to do. Your comments have given me plenty of ideas to tighten her character up, I realize she's waaay all over the place now. <___<
I'll start working on a revision of her tonight; thank you again!
What is your name? Joan Archer Do you have a preferred name? Joan How old are you? 17 What is your gender? Female Where are you from? Hearthome City, Sinnoh
SECTION 2-A What do you look like? Tan skin, brown eyes, and vivid dark green hair make up the basics of Joan. There's nothing particularly noteworthy about her build, nor does she have any scars or blemishes. Or at least ones that aren't covered in makeup; Joan isn't the type to shy away from Altarian Blue or Doublade Purposeful Purple. She does have her ears pierced, and has been contemplating a nose ring. Or maybe she should go for a lip ring?
Her hair falls somewhere between #336633 and #336666 and is long enough to fall to her mid-back. She often keeps it swept up into a ponytail, or goes so far as to use an extensive amount of hairspray and gel to hold it into fun and interesting shapes that make people stop and stare. Joan has yet to learn to keep an umbrella with her, turning rain into her mortal enemy.
What is your style of clothing?Whatever's in style this season, duh! Joan's recently become a fan of oversized shirts, from ones with neck holes large enough to slide over her shoulder and show off the tanktop worn underneath. She also likes leggings, and the more colorful/abstract the better (Black Milk has some examples, and Galaxy Print is always snazzy, though she draws the line at bananas with faces).
Joan is also a fiend for accessories. After having to leave most of them behind, Joan has successfully managed to smuggle 13 bracelets, five necklaces, and ten different pairs of earrings onto the island. She grudgingly does not wear all bracelets and necklaces all at once, much to her chagrin.
SECTION B
Tell us about yourself.
Joan's biggest concern in life isn't whether or not her crush will fly in on the back of a shiny Articuno and whisk her away from this island in who knows where that her parents dragged her to. She's not even worried about whether or not her new boss will finally catch onto the fact that she hasn't yet finished stocking the shelves completely. With a seemingly lazy and self-righteous sense of apathy, the truth in the matter is that Joan is quite worried about how she's perceived by others. Not that she'll admit it -- that's the first step into admitting you have a problem and Joan does not have a problem thank you!
While Joan refuses to give up her attraction towards colorful clothes and make up (Thundershock Yellow is totally in!), she is struggling between acting in a way she thinks people want her to behave and how she herself truly feels. She's still in her rebellious phase to where her mouth will often run off without her.
How did you hear about this project? Even though in some regions kids can leave the house as early as 10 years old, by Archer house rules Joan isn't yet ready to live on her own. As her parents are scientists who were offered a job. And since Joan is underage by their rules, she was dragged along as part of her indentured servitude to her parental overlords.
Why did you decide to volunteer for this project? Joan used the excuse that a pokemon would teach her responsibility and maturity in order to get her parents on board.
What Joan admitted only to her diary (that quite possibly someone would find, read, snicker over, copy-paste the juicier bits online for complete strangers to read and snicker over before finally putting it back) would be the quiet realization that a pokemon is technically a constant companion. They're there for you, right? Her friendships never felt long, and Joan was tired of long distance relationships. When would they stop writing? Did they even care? Pokemon battles could be brutal. If something was that devoted to her, then maybe it would be the stability she needed.
But more importantly she could dress a pokemon up and make it adorable. Stop judging her, she has 7 bracelets she hasn't gotten a chance to wear yet and if she can't wear them then someTHING will!
What is your main goal/what do you wish to achieve from this project? Joan's Plans for Elovve Domination: 1) Earn money doing the bare minimum. 6) Make the best of things. 7) Score a cute pokemon. 8.) Project the need to accessorize onto said cute pokemon. 9) Become a famous trainer for contest pokemon and earn lots of money. 10) Use said fame and fortune to either get off the island to dominate other contest circuits or deposit said money into the theorized Elovve Nerd Mall to further accessories and further dominate the contest field. 11) Discover that once you're on the island you're stuck on the island per the paperwork that was signed without reading it. 12) Realize that without the outside world, there's no pressure to keep up with trends/things expected of you. 13) Become a first-class expert slacker and coast off the victories of fusion pokemon for an easy life of the rich and famous.
Are you afraid? Is whatever it is bigger than Joan? Then yes. Can it ruin her hair and/or makeup? Then yes. Is there someone she can hide behind or cling to? No? Then yes. Is there really a nerd mall? THEN NO TAKE ME THERE NOW.

Her hair falls somewhere between #336633 and #336666 and is long enough to fall to her mid-back. She often keeps it swept up into a ponytail, however she has on occasion depleted a canister of hair spray in an attempt to create a fancy of strange up-do. Said hairstyle usually flops over and results in a mess that takes several washes to take out, turning her experiments as something she indulges in when frightfully bored.

Yes, Joan is afraid of Pokemon. Small Pokemon get a pass because of how well-behaved the majority of them she's seen have been. At least, so long as it doesn't make any sudden movements -- then the chips are off the table and Joan's likely to make a scene due to a high-pitched squeak of fear prior to her flailing and looking for the closest person she can run and hide behind.
How did you hear about this project? Even though in some regions kids can leave the house as early as 10 years old, by Archer house rules Joan isn't yet ready to live on her own. Hopelessly Pretty
Hello! Ahh I wasn't sure whether you wanted me to quote you or go repost in the trainer check thread when ready, but if it's not too much trouble could I get you to take another look at Joan? I've updated her personality and future goals.
...I also sincerely apologize for how long this post is otl.
Quote:
-Fashion Fanatic: I understand that Joan has a strong sense of style, she enjoys taking the time to find fashion resources, and makes sure that she's coordinated with the latest trends. I imagine that all of this effort is going toward making Joan stand out of the crowd by ensuring her appearance is unique. The trait that conflicts this though is her fear of being judged by others. Could you possibly elaborate on why Joan chooses to dress in a way that draws attention to herself, if she is so worried about receiving a negative reception by her peers? Why does she crave this attention in the first place?
Joan's original conception was that she would be a people/peer-pleaser. In order to ensure that she would have friends she'd do her best to be a likeable person. The more I thought about it, the more this trait started to bore and bother me so it was ditched and will likely come up in solos with the excuse that "hey her poke-egg is her new bff, no need to worry about friendship."
Instead, by focusing more on being brash/ramping up her need for attention it'll hopefully lead to more eccentric/crazy/fun RPs. Or at least an ice breaker as to why her hair looks like a pidgey attempted to nest in it.

You also said that Joan intends to use her current paychecks to fund her future career as a pokemon coordinator. Once more I see that she is choosing to go down a road that will lead to fame, but she doesn't seem to display the work ethic that will get her there. Is Joan doing anything else that will lead her to her goal of becoming a coordinator, aside from saving money to later on buy clothes and accessories for contests? Does she have any natural talents or learned skills that will help her make that goal a reality? I feel that this part of her profile could become more clear with more information.
I've since ditched Joan's aspirations for PokeContests since she really don't have the drive for that. The only thing she has going for her in that regard is a desire to dress up, experiment, and accessorize. I think of her as being a teen that does as little as possible needed due to being a teenager and not yet fully understanding/realizing hey this is a thing you need to do.
To somewhat counter that though, the thought process for her currently goes like this: How will this affect me? If I don't do it, will it make things worse for me later on down the road? Do I suck it up now or later? Of course this doesn't kick in that often; I really hope to embrace the "stupid teenager" idea/perception more than once in RP. 8D

What, if any, are the morals/values/etc. that Joan holds in high regard but others might not? How does she respond to situations where her personal values may come into conflict with the requests or expectations of others?
...You know, it just occurred to me that Joan's style of clothing falls into the 80s/possibly early 90s vein, ahaha. The more I think about it, the more it feels like Joan prefers to wear layers and strip up/down as needed in order to be comfortable. While she's aware of fashion trends, I don't see her as following them exactly. ie if purple becomes an "in" color, she might start wearing more purple accessories but won't go far enough to throw everything out that isn't purple.
If anything, most likely Joan would make her buck stretch by going to a second-hand store and digging through in search of things that look cute/trendy. That won't stop her from blowing her entire paycheck on a shirt that strikes her as a "must have" though.
RE: Expectations - The current/heaviest expectation going on or immediately occurring for Joan would be her parents hoping to teach Joan some responsibility and make her less selfish by hooking her up with the finneon/eevee egg. Having a pokemon to look after would also eat into any of her personal time and prevent her from falling in with a delinquent crowd, though this is assuming Joan's parents would also make Joan keep an "egg log" in order to teach her scientific theory/get her interested in becoming a Pokemon Researcher.
Assuming that most children interact with/have pokemon in this universe, I like to think that as a young child Joan was terrified by a large pokemon. This in turn made her disinterested/scared of them to the point of refusing to go onto a pokemon journey. It wasn't until she was tall enough to be bigger than most pokemon (and realize that not all of them were going to hurt her as well as several therapy sessions) that she would be open to the idea of taking care of one. Honestly, the main drive for her behind raising a pokemon from an egg would be to 1) have a harmless pokemon and 2) find a way to finally get back at her bratty NPC of a brother.
Since she's not wild about pokemon (I like to think that she doesn't have the poke-knowledge realize that finneon and eevee aren't in the same egg groups using the argument that the "-eon" at the end of "finneon" makes it some sort of eeveelution), I'm assuming that didn't make her one of the "cool kids." While growing up, I like to think Joan was too prideful to admit she was intimidated by pokemon and uses clothing/fashion/makeup as an excuse to keep them away. Ie, "I don't want to hold it! I'll get hair all over my shirt..."
When faced with a scenario that brings Joan's views into conflict with someone else's, I think Joan might make the attempt to suck it up depending on her train of thought. She is brash enough to loudly argue for her point, but not enough to cause a major scene of tears/public shaming. At most I think her loud mouth might get enough attention to warrant a curious glance or two in her direction, but nothing to get embarrassed over. Or so she hopes.
I hope this answers your questions and provides some insight/amusement for anyone interested in Joan! <3
Hey Maru, sorry it took me some time to get back to you on the progress of Joan's profile! I've had work and it's kept me busy.
But I wanted to let you know that as of Joan's submission form, you have been approved! Congratulations! The skeleton of the old profile you had for her can be used in your new thread, if you so desire, but I'll still have to ask you to re-write that part now that you've gotten Joan's personality more succinct.
