I have thought about this for many many years and I finally came to the conclusion that if I didn't change my self physically I would never be happy. It is kinda early to make this choice in life but I just find it good to do it anyway. I guess my whole idea on it was pretty scary at first, it still is. I guess its not so much as changing but going through seeing my self like that. I was told that no matter what I do I must be my self even if that means changing my body to make my self happy. But, I would like some thoughts on this subject if any of you know how it is or have friends that have done this. And also personal thoughts to it doesn't matter.

The only advice I have is that if you ever want a baby that's biologically yours, be sure to store some sperm at a designated clinic before your physical transformation.
Other than that, it is up to each individual as to how they proceed with their lives. As with abortion, it is your body; though you may have been born with one gender, you may have only been born with it to deal with the struggles is incurs before transforming to the other.
Of course, some common sense comes into play- one shouldn't do it to lash out at others or "be different". To me, that would be such a waste of money and time if you were not doing it for more personal reasons.
The only question on this subject is how does a woman become a man? I mean, with guys, they have some excess, and its not that big of a deal. I'm not sure if we have the medical technology to give a female a working wang. confused
And if we do, does the patient get to choose the size, or is their a "one size fits all" procedure?
...The matter doesn't bother me ethically at all, if anyone hasn't noticed. sweatdrop

I've seriously considered sex change, as I definitely feel more male than female. However, I don't want to deal with the expense, stress, and work this procedure involves. I can accept my body, I'm just not entirely comfortable with it.
But good for you! If you really want it, you should go through with the procedure.

There are certain drugs that put hormone glands into action. Women can grow a p***s just like men can lose theirs and get a v****a. I guess you could choose a, erm, size. sweatdrop It depends on how much of each hormone you get. I don't know if we have the technology to control that yet. I saw a movie on a group of people who had gotten sex changes. It was a documentary. Anyways, they seemed perfectly normal. My advice though, make sure you're absolutely sure before you proceed. It's apparently very expensive, time-consuming and difficult. And Jameta has a point. Make sure that you have your future planned for things such as children and sex. Plus you should keep in mind that it would be awkward to find out that your spouse was once your own gender. All kinds of things to be taken into consideration. Sorry I couldn't help anymore.

Its just something that I think needs to be done. The sex is one thing but children another because I don't think that you can have children when they do this unless you request it. I'am not exactly sure but from what I know I won't be able to have babies. As for the sex, that doesn't matter to me at all. I just want to feel me and stop this pain within.

Surgery is required for that, and I believe the functionality of the organs in sex are something like 70% or so, depending on who does the job and how good they are at it. For mtfs (Male to Females), the functionality is more like 90-99% after most surgeries. I was once considering this and would recommend Marcy Bowers over Eugene Schrang. Schrang has been in the business a little too long, and I think his methods (while tried and true) might be a little outdated. Marcy also has the distinct benefit of having gone through the procedure herself, done by her predecessor whose position she took over for.
As for reproduction, that is wholly impossible after surgery. For me the question is, is it still possible after hormones, but without surgery.... Can my sperm (if I can get enough out) still produce babies (perhaps after laying off hormones for a few weeks)...? If I got a girlfriend interested, could we as lesbian parents have a biological child together? biggrin My guess is probably not, but...*shrugs*

But, I would like some thoughts on this subject if any of you know how it is or have friends that have done this. And also personal thoughts to it doesn't matter. Okay here's my short story:
I realized I needed to be a girl when I was 7. I hid this and dressed in secret until I was 15. At age 13 was the first time I heard the word transsexual. The Sally Jesse Raphael show (talk show) proved to me that I wasn't crazy and other people like me exist, lol. So I went and researched it (unfortunately online, where mostly porn resulted from a search for the word transsexual). By age 15, I came out to my mom, but it was done while dressed as a girl. She looked at me as if I was something completely foreign and I spent the entire day physically sick to my stomach. That afternoon I took it back and said it was just a phase and maybe it was because I hadn't dated yet. sad
I spent the next four years hiding it from everyone and fighting it. I "binged and purged," getting lots of clothes and then throwing them out every few months. Finally in college, I came out for good. It coincided with a "call for help" that was nearly suicidal (but I kept getting up and moving out of the way of the cars on the road). Four years later, I finally started on hormones. A year and a half after that (just a few months ago), I had an interesting revelation, sparked by a friend's general statement (with no offense to me or anyone), "I just don't know why a person would spend all that money to cut off a piece of yourself." More significantly this re-ignited an age-old question I've had for more than a decade, "Could I really exist as both genders?"
I think deep down that is who I really am. I'm both male and female in spirit. My recently spiritual endeavors have only strengthened this idea. And for me, I have realized that yes, I can live as both genders. For the average world, I go as female, because the "mundanes" need that kind of security. There's no third option for "sex" on your driver's license. Personally, I'd like a Y. wink
So now here I am, 1.5 years on hormones, B cup breasts, long beautiful (naturally curly) hair, fully passing as female, with a p***s (that can still get hard, but takes a very long time to and mostly comes up dry). Certainly I can't expect everyone to understand this, and in fact I'm not half sure if this post might even get me censured or banned. But this is an intellectual post, and I'm trying to give you what you wanted: a viewpoint on this subject from someone with experience in it. I'm not saying my path is yours. In fact, I find my path wholly unique and enjoy the fact that I know of very few people who have taken it (although I know of a couple intersexed people as well). Feel free to PM me anytime.
Namaste heart

I hope I don't upset you with my opinion but I have to be honest. First, there is no such thing as a sex change. Nothing can change your chromosomes, and they define what sex you are. There are only cosmetic operations that can create the illusion of being the opposite sex, and it's a pretty shoddy illusion at that. For m to f transition, they cut off the nuts, and then slice your p***s in half, lengthwise from the base to the tip. they take this mutilated flesh and stuff it up inside the are between your legs and form something that is supposed to resemble a v****a. if you say you want to be female so you can menstruate, produce eggs, and carry a child to term, those things will never happen, they are beyond our technology. IF you feel more female because you like dresses, and pink and long hair, then you can do all those things with your body in tact, for they do not define a female any more than short hair, playing sports, and hunting animals define a male. you can do all those things without mutilating your p***s. That's a very mean thing to do to your p***s, and what did it ever do to hurt you. And finally, I think some people are filled with such intense guilt over being gay that they think their lives would be easier if they became the other sex. As an out gay man in NYC who has worked in nightclubs I have known many transexuals, transvestites and drag queens. Many who have gone through this irreversible operation regret it forever, and I get the feeling from those who don't say they regret it are that they are lying. Live your life the way that makes you happy, but learn to love yourself just the way you are.

I'm glad your friends simple, yet profound advice resonated with you and thank you for sharing your story.. I also want to add that this is exactly why this quild was created. we could not have a conversation like this in the main forums withouth evil and bitter people spouting thei hate, kudos to us. BTW, I hate the poll, there is no way to reasonably say you are against sex chance, without calling it stupid.

And since you are not a woman, how do you know what they are supposed to feel like. Maybe your just human. We are all damaged little beings trying to make our way in a large and confusing universe. I wouldn't consider this "vanadalizing"; prostitution is more like vandalizing. It's a comfort thing. Consider if you were born with an abnormality, which made you uncomfortable, that could be changed. For some individuals, one can't just "deal with it"; they need to make that physical step. It may also be related to changes in religion and spirituality- though some are born Christians, the practices might not be comfortable, and one may need to make such a change. And mental, emotional, and spiritual changes can be just as drastic as physical.
