The teenager peeked out of the room and looked up and down the hall suspiciously. Confirming that there was no one around to see him, he shut the door quickly and with a loud click slid the lock home. Nobody had seen him come in with the papers, this would be the perfect chance to fill them out before either of his parents stumbled on them and threw a fit. By the time they found out about anything there would be nothing they could do.
Was this underhanded? Very. Would they be angry? He'd be lucky if they didn't disown him... at least for a little while, but if everything went his way he'd be regions away with next to no contact during the worst of it.
He flopped onto his bed and rolled to his stomach, pen in hand and with enough scrap paper to write a small novel for working on the wording of the longer questions. This application had to be the best he could make it.
He skimmed the introduction again, having read it at least six or seven times already to make sure he understood it then got started on the first section printing his answers as neatly as he could manage.SECTION 1-A

"Well seems pretty painless so far..." Jarek thought as his eyes skimmed the next section. It didn't seem any harder, but he turned to the scrap paper just in case, going through a couple of revisions before he was satisfied enough to copy it onto the form.SECTION 2-A
What do you look like?
I'm short for my age at about 5'4" Between my height and how skinny I am most people think I am younger then I really am. I'm always being told I am pale and need to get more sun but I don't bother since I don't tan, I always get sunburned if I am out in it too long.
I have dark green hair, its short and kinda messy ((Reference)) and I have brown eyes. I also have a thin scar from some childhood sillyness that went wrong. It goes across the bridge of my nose and along my left cheek under my eye.
What is your style of clothing?
My typical clothing style would be best described as comfortable, casual and very relaxed. I prefer to wear hoodies as often as possible, with the hood up, other then those I usually wear t-shirts, jeans and athletic sneakers. When I am travelling I carry my belongings in a slightly battered (or as I like to put it, full of memories) green canvas backpack. ((Typical Outfit))

He studied what he'd written and wondered if it was long enough. After staring at it for at least five minutes or more, he decided that he wouldn't know what else to write anyway and moved on.
He sighed as he read the next question. He'd been dreading this one since he never knew what to say about himself or how to make himself sound good. He agonized over the question for over an hour, writing and rewriting his answer until finally he had something that while he didn't like it, he didn't hate it either and the floor around his bed was littered with crumpled pieces of paper.SECTION B
Tell us about yourself.
Family History: I am the middle child, with one older brother and two younger siblings (a sister and brother). I get along well enough with my family most of the time but there are some family issues, nothing too serious, just about personal beliefs towards life choices (mine mostly).
My parents have really high expectations for all of their children, wanting to see us in good jobs (which in their minds means, the higher paying, the better the job).
My siblings were fine with these expectations, they do great under the needless pressure... but then you have me. I find myself often at odds with everyone when the topic comes up. I only sort of know what I want to do with my life. Yeah it might be a little vague but I know that I want to work with pokemon and I am still young. I have lots of time to figure it out completely, This is not good enough for my parents though and fights break out whenever it is brought up.
My favorite escape is to the local pokemon center where I volunteer sometimes. I always felt comfortable there, actually it might be the only place I felt comfortable. I guess that is part of the reason I want to come here, because everyone who volunteers or works on this project will like pokemon too.
Personality: I am shy as I have been told many times, I know I am not comfortable talking to others I don't know well. When I have to I like to be very polite and formal, it offends less people that way and if I don't offend them then they don't get angry which I like since I don't like dealing with people that are angry, it makes me uncomfortable.
However, I LOVE pokemon and would love to spend all my time with them, doesn't matter what we do. Training, battling, travelling or even just playing.
I heard a suggestion that I should add a few things to sum up what I like and don't like so I will just list them here.

Jarek sighed with relief as the final stroke of the pen meant that his most dreaded question was done, and he didn't have to worry over it any more. He read the next several questions and was happy to see that while they would take a little thought, they weren't going to break his brain the way the last one had.Section B C'ont
How did you hear about this project?
As I mentioned earlier I often volunteer at a local pokemon center, helping clean up and play with the pokemon. One of my friends who worked there heard about about the project from her uncle, who heard it from his neighbour, who has a cousin who is part of the project... or something like that I think. She was a little hard to follow.
Anyway, she found out about it and thought it would be a good opportunity for me, so she told me about it.
Why did you decide to volunteer for this project?
At first I wasn't really sure what I thought about genetically manipulating pokemon like this, but after I sat down and really thought about it for a while I could really see the good things the potential pokemon could do and all the things we could learn about pokemon in general from this study. How could I not bring myself to at least try to be a part of this.
To be completely honest, while that is most of the reason I want to become a part of this project, I also like the fact that there will be limited contact with people I know here. I want to take this chance to test myself to see what I can become as well as what I can help pokemon become and without the 'help' I am likely to receive from well meaning family and friends.
What is your main goal/what do you wish to achieve from this project?
My main goal would have to be to become friends with whatever pokemon I end up with and help them become the best they can be. The next question left him pondering a little. His first thought was to say no, because admitting that he was afraid might hurt his chances to be accepted, then he decided that he had been completely honest all along, now was not the time to start lying.Are you afraid?
I don't see how I could not be afraid. I will be travelling to an unfamiliar region, interacting with people I've never met and dealing with pokemon that are nothing like the ones I am familiar with while at the same time I am excited. I don't assume things will be easy, however it does sound like a great exciting adventure that I can't wait to be a part of. Jarek read over everything one last time, scribbled his name at the bottom of the form, then jumped off his bed, dug an envelope off of his cluttered desk then stuffed everything into it. He considered waiting until later to mail it, but he wanted to do it while his enthusiasm was still high and before he started having second and third thoughts about what he was doing.
While he grabbed his hoodie, as he was running for the front door, his voice rang through the apartment "Mom, I'm going out."
The door slammed behind Jarek and he could only hope that it was the sound of the start of an exciting journey for him.
