The whole fact of the matter was- his buddy had told him of a rumor and this rumor was something along the lines of 'a thing that would make people notice you'. Which in his profession, was a very big deal. Work might have been steady, but his agent wasn't really pushing it- heck, Marcus felt stuck, that the limits weren't being tested, that he wasn't giving it his all because he didn't have to give it his all. All he had to do was look good and play nice. AKA don't flirt with every lady photographer that you worked with in the hopes she'd give you her number.
His trip down to the port was a long and boring one. Car rides, on the back of a few pokemon for when the car decided it hated the road and 'oh sorry our taxi service sucks but yeah here just ride this Rhydon its not like your a** didn't need for feel saddle sore'. But once on the boat? He was out in his swim suit, catching rays under the warm sun, taking a dip in the pool, and in general attempting to just flirt his way into maybe a job or a cute date.
He did get one date at least. The waitress off of clock wasn't exactly a high end catch, but hey, she had some good jokes! And if anything it killed time until they made land.
When they did make land there wasn't anything all that remarkable to write home about. If anything it was kind of... dull. He'd expected some kind of secret pokemon smuggling going on of that these rumored Pokémon might be held by anyone with great affluence. But no it was just a rather regular port town with rather regular people and everyone doing regular things. Nothing that wasn't normal. Well, normal in the sense that he figured 'there was no club or movie studio or even a way to get something streamed live for a online self shoot.
But... it would be a cute location to start up a few B-movie scenes. After all, most places couldn't afford the high cost studios anyway- maybe they'd just not invested in the market here. (He'd have to ask his agent about any roles that might be looking for an outlandish handsome devil or villian- his usual type cast).
The journey to the place on the postcard from his little 'invite' to the rumored place he'd put that application into was long, annoying, and filled with too much sand. Really- who wanted to live in a place where you have to go through and dessert? Apparent some people. With a worn body and mind Marcus did eventually make it to his destination, grumbling on how the heat had split his hair ends and how it had better have been worth it.
And it was. The sight of the research, the tech, the progress and product? Marcus was hooked.
Line and sinker- they even had his favorite pokemon fused.
