What is this guild about?
GBS was started as a place for competitive pokemon fans to gather and enjoy the game together. Other than random threads in the Pokemon Forum there seemed to be no place to gather with like minded people on Gaia and enjoy the game without being hassled about rulesets and breeding. So here it is!
Do I have to be competitive to join?
Short answer: No. While we would like to see everyone grow in their pokemon knowledge while playing with one another, there is no entrance exam to see whether you are 'competitive' or not. We accept all kinds, but are geared toward enjoying Pokemon to its fullest, and that includes breeding, battling, and all the other strategy elements that make the game enjoyable outside of the main story line.
Are you a Smogon or VGA guild?
Well, both. And neither. We are a competitive battle guild, but are not supporting one rule system over another. We will have particular GBS rules, but welcome all members to actively participate in all sorts of metagames and learn from each one. We would like to encourage to respect everyone's opinions, whether they be Hatfield or McCoy, er I mean Smogon or whatever else they may be.
What is your stance on hacked/cloned pokemon?
For GBS sanctioned events we will most likely ask that Hacked/cloned pokemon not be used, but we will not look down on those who enjoy battling more than breeding, and use legal pokes that have been obtained in less than legal ways.
What can I do to become a Gym Leader or a member of the Elite 4?
Anyone may apply to be a gym leader. We will run between eight and twelve gyms at all times. I will post an application form in the Gym subforum that can be filled out and PMed to me or any of the VCs. As for E4, this is an invitation only group. This group will be made up of the most talented battlers, and those who dedicate the most time/effort to the gym. And while the E4 may be fairly rigid on who gets in, the Champion spot will be awarded to whoever beats the E4 first, and will be changed every time the former champion is defeated by the challenger who does so. Once someone has earned all of the badges and claimed the title of 'Champion' the current cycle of badges will be reset, and everyone will have the opportunity to seize the title themselves. Or to put it more simply, once someone crosses the finish line the race starts over.
