IMO the Coconut Crab is the best kind. A primarily land dwelling hermit crab that starts it's childhood no different than any other ocean hermit crab, but at a certain age ventures out of the water as it's soft rear grows a hard shell, and grows even bigger. As adults they can pinch coconuts off of palm trees, hence their name, and are able to pinch halfway through human fingers.

Ooooooh! A dangerous pet, indeed. Crabby has claws!
