----------------------------------------------- BACKGROUND
Long ago, the five kings of the Netherworld, the greatest demons who had won their thrones through martial power and cunning, united and conquered the human world. It was a time of war and destruction, and chaos swept through the cosmos as the demon lords waged their endless battles to dominate all of existence.
This great victory was not to last, however. Each Demon King was far too egocentric and ambitious to work with the others forever. Eventually, they splintered and once again began to fight among each other.
These endless battles between the five kings continue into the present era, centuries later. It is a time of conflict and change, political upheaval and glory. It is a time where even the lowliest of foot soldiers can rise to become a great Demon Lord, a time when humanity struggles beneath the yoke of second-class citizenship, and ancient powers clash against each other. It is a time where the dark magics of demon-kind clash against the ethereal science of angels, and where even a lowborn human peasant can challenge gods should he find the strength within himself.
Which side will you choose? Are you a great leader of demons, a warrior who fights for one of the five kings? Are you a loner, who fights for no one but yourself and your own beliefs? Are you a demon or a human? An angel or a mage? A beggar or a king?
The choice is yours.

----------------------------------------------- SETTING
The story takes place in a world of demons. It is an eccentric, stylized world where a battle between just two warriors can change maps and tear apart horizons. Whether you are a demon, human, or angel, you are capable of becoming extremely powerful.
The Demons are the focus of the story. Residents of the hellish Netherworld, they are divided into five kingdoms each ruled by one of the mighty Demon Kings. There is little difference between the residents of each group, so don't worry about having to choose a Fire demon just because the king you serve has a somewhat pervasive smell of brimstone... Demons are a mixed lot.
Humans are treated largely as second class citizens, at best. Don't expect a lot of respect if you play as one. You can become as powerful as any demon, but expect to work hard for it.
Angels are less based around old fashioned magic in this universe and more around "high technology." They are known for their energized weapons and armor, as well as the robotic "Automatons" they tend to use as soldiers; machines crafted to look like angels and animated by living souls. They don't have a huge presence in the world since the Angel Realm is currently separated from the demon conquered human world by dimensional barriers.
Currently the five demon kings are engaged in near endless wars against each other. However, it is less of a war between five great factions and more akin the the 100 years war between England and France... For those of you who don't know what that entails, it basically means that the conflicts actually consist of hundreds of smaller wars fought between lesser nobles and lords who seek personal power and glory. The demons to watch our for are the ones holding titles, such as barons, dukes, counts, and earls. At the top of the chains, just below the kings themselves, are great generals that command the demonic armies that battle throughout the world. These are the nobles who have earned the right to command other nobles and their forces, and are the names to watch out for.

----------------------------------------------- RULES
1.) No God-modding, of course. I trust everyone to be fair. This is an action based RP, and I encourage lots of fights. Just don't go one-shotting or auto dodging people, make sure both participants are on the same page. If you want to blow up a mountain or two, fine, but don't make your characters omnipotent God.
2.) There is no real science or rule set to magic in this universe. If you want to just shoot energy beams at each other, cool. If you want more of a structure to your characters abilities, fine. You are free to give your character multiple abilities, just please don't make yourself all powerful. To put it in perspective, if you were to fight a Demon King at the start of the story don't expect to win (unless you play one, of course )
3.) Be polite to everyone. If your character is a jerk or has a reason to be a jerk to a certain person, fine, but you can still treat everyone nicely in the OCC. Be fair guys, and don't spoil other people's fun.
4.) Cussing and Violence... Keep it PG-13. Nuff' Said.
5.) Romance is OK, but... Don't make it weird. That's all I ask.
6.) Be ambitious! Just because you start as a peasant or a common foot soldier doesn't mean you can't become a mighty general one day. Feel free to change the world, guys! I want your characters to create the story, not just roll through a story I give you.
7.) Feel free to PM me with questions or concerns. I'm a nice guy. Honest...
8.) Try to be original. I'm not going to say you have to avoid tropes or gimmicks, but give your character depth and PLAY them. Don't just make someone who does things just to do things. It ruins everyone else's experience.
9.) If you guys want to roll to see who wins a fight, that's ok, but I'd personally prefer you just decided based on story. I understand not wanting your character to lose fights, but we're not here to one up each other.
10.) Have fun! Or I'll find you...
11.) Communicate with each other! Don't be strangers, and your characters don't need to be strangers either.

NOTICE. No one is allowed to be a Demon King at this point. You can be a high ranking noble or even one of the Generals, but I'm not going to deal with people wandering into every fight and one shotting everyone. Fact is, I want to see people rise up through the ranks and BECOME the king through clever writing... Everyone's going to be gunning for that position, so if you want to play as the head honcho then play and ambitious character and we can set them up for king/queenhood later on.
If anyone wants to have their character converse with one of the kings, then either I or someone I have given permission to can play them for those scenes. In this way they participate in the story but aren't the focus, ya'll dig?

Lucifer: Youngest of the five kings. His rise to power was harshly opposed due to his status as a turncoat angel, but he managed to win his rule through martial strength and cunning. He has gathered a strong and loyal group of followers, and while his domain is not as expansive as the rest the loyalty and military cunning he possesses makes him a formidable power in the world.
Barbatos: The oldest and traditionally wisest of the five kings, Barbatos has held on to his power longer than any demon king in known history. A cunning and ruthless elder, he constantly seeks to expand his power through intrigue. His armies emphasize the power of clever sorcerers over strong warriors, unlike the other four kings.
Dantalion: The second youngest king, next to Lucifer. Known as an eccentric who values art and culture (considered quite scandalous among most demons).
Astaroth: Considered the greatest warrior among the Demon Kings, who claimed his power by slaying everyone who challenged him. He is a mighty brute known to destroy entire fortresses single handedly and throw vast numbers at enemies rather than relying on conventional tactics.
Murmur: The only female among the five kings. Murmur is a mysterious figure, the most reclusive of the five kings who rarely participates in the larger conflicts. Her kingdom is a foggy, murky land that few have managed to explore.
(Note that even though these are all theological demons, you can take from Asian folklore or other cultures outside of Europe if you want.)
