As someone who is going F to M, I've been thinking about getting my hair cut to a shorter style (mine is waist length), as many F to M people seem to do to make them appear more masculine. But I've been thinking. There are plenty of metal heads, goths and geek guys that have long hair.
So what do you guys think? Would having longer hair make it harder for me to appear more masculine? It just seems like one of the easier things to change. Can't do anything about my height, and my voice and physique will take a lot of work. The only trouble is I'm rather fond of my heavy metal hair.... sad

Not a lot of guys have hair that long, but you should work towards what your vision of yourself should be. Right now i'm kinda working on my hair as well trying to figure out what shampoos to make my hair look and feel better.

As a male metal head, I have long hair.... Many of male (more masculine appearing) friends do too... its totally up to you, but if you love it, don't cut it off. I did that once, to make other people happy, and it made me feel truly awful and I completely regretted it. I'm facing the fact that I'm going to have to cut it off soon (I'm a law student, and I want to be able to get internships and then a job, and I won't be able to with long hair...) and it absolutely sucks...

Thanks for your advice, guys! 3nodding I should probably have mentioned this before, but I wouldn't be cutting ALL of it off, if I did decide to get it shortened. Long enough to still tie back, but shorter than my epic long hair is now. I actually really like the style that Raziel and Edward Elric have (it's pretty much the same style).
