Otto awoke, groggy and disoriented. A lot had happened within a dream and as he woke from it too. Announcements blared, and a fogginess refused to disperse from his mind. He felt heavy and tired with burdens. Memories haunted him in the dream. Futures that could very well come to pass, and ones that he knew were never possible for him.
Shakily he sat up, his head lolling to the side heavily. He needed more than a moment to collect himself on a good morning, let alone a morning like this one. He rubbed his hair as he tried to shake away the fuzzies in his head. After a minute, he realized something was inside his palm which rested on the bed.
He rubbed his eyes first before bringing up the hand which was holding something. A small red box. Had Nevada left him a gift? Such a thought shook away his webs, and he eagerly read the note attached.
"Reflection awaits a willing heart
Seven locks sealed
Seven bearers to heal
Will you forgive the betrayer?"
This.. was definitely not from Nevada. Otto had a bad feeling about this. Cautiously, he opened the box.
There, lay a red key.
"Holy ******** s**t." Otto murmured aloud. It was a key. The ones he'd heard about before. The one Jerry had, the ones Sasha was looking for information on. Maybe even Kostya that one time...
Otto panicked. He needed to get to the meeting, and he wasn't even dressed yet. Yet what was he supposed to do about this.. this key? A red one, of all things. Did this thing have anything to do with the red beast inside the cage? Had he been.. chosen for something?
That made him feel important... if not once again used. But important and needed.
He shook his head. That was a very bad thought to be having. He was a hunter, not some lunatic looking out for himself. He had to think about the greater good here. Maybe he ought to hand it over to the Life Labs. Yeah... that was for the best. Somehow, he felt sad to hand it off. He'd been given something special, one of seven in fact, and he'd have to give it up in order to do what's right.
He hated doing the right thing. It never worked in his favour.
Otto sighed, dropping the box on the bed as he got ready for the day. He'd have to deal with this key later. It would stay in his pocket, and remain a constant distraction. He wanted badly to look upon it again, despite how much he feared it's potential.
He wasn't Kostya. He didn't need to touch all the things.
