Personality: In his middle school days, Kyousuke didn't care much for school or socialising with his classmates. He admitted to his sister that he would honestly rather be alone and play video games than study and make friends. His main focus in life was mostly working to pay for food and buying manga for his younger sister. His personality eventually changed when his younger sister Hatsune died.
After her death, he became a more responsible person. He worked and studied hard to become a mechanic and to pay for treatments to help people like his sister. He became very smart and a very kind person. He sees his very first scrap yard Zoid as his sister. This just shows how caring he can be, over his aloof personality, and unmotivated approach on difficult times.

Biography:
In middle school, Kyousuke's sister, Hatsune was diagnosed with cancer and has been bedridden for two years. During the period, Kyou didn't know what he was living for and what was his purpose in life. He detached himself from his friends and soon lived a solitary life, funded by his part-time jobs, due to a gard life of having no parents to take care of them.
All he wanted was to work enough to eat and live. Even so, he kept on visiting his sister and would buy her manga magazines with the little money he had. He always got her whatever he saw first in the book shop, so he didn't even know if he gave her the same one or a different magazine. Hatsune would be happy with whatever Kyousuke gave her and she would always say "Thank you so much brother" to Kyou.
By Hatsune's request, Kyou took Hatsune to see the decorations of the Christmas trees on the streets in Olympia. Hatsune passed away while clinging onto Kyou's back and after that Kyou finally realised his reason for living. He felt alive when Hatsune expressed her gratitude and that was all it took for him to continue living. He realizes that he was happy before and that he has lost that reason for living after the death of Hatsune.
Kyousuke was left to live alone after Hatsune passed away and thought there was nothing in him anymore. Until finding large parts of metal being taken away and tossed as scrap, it reminded him of the Zoid mecha that he loved so much. After taking one expectation of it, the Zoid greatly reminded him of his sister, he named the Zoid Hatsune. Ever since then, Kyousuke would try his best to enter the Grand Prix, in memory of Hatsune.
