So, what do you think? I have been hearing about this rumor for a while now.. It says that our beloved Meevers has done eye surgeries on his upper lids in order to make them look bigger. I have met people who are against the rumor and others who support it, but does anyone know if this is actually true or not? confused
I sure hope it's not, and I personally find it hard to believe he would do something like that.
Some say that when you compare his older and more recent pics you could see the difference, but I don't know.. And the same people also say that it might be because he's half korean that his eyes were too small, but that just seems stupid, koreans have as small eyes as any other asians.. stare
I would like to hear anyones opinion on this, be it personal opinion or a fact. ^^

Personaly I can't tell the difference between the Japanese's eyes and westerners eyes. I haven't really noticed a change in MYV's eyes. Does the rumor say when he got them done?

Some say he got it during the freedom fighters promotion... So it's supposed to be quite recent. And the whole surgery thing was about to get the crease in upper lids more definite.. Or so I hear. sweatdrop
that's why I posted in here, I wanted to know if anyone in here had heard anything different.. It's just so hard for me to believe he would do something like that.. >.>

I don't know.. At the most I could believe if he used eye glue or something, since he has admitted using in in the past. But surgery? That just seems so unbelievable.. -.-'

I didn't know he was half korean sweatdrop , no wonder he's tall, but I knew he was different from japanese men, he's tall, and his face shapeis different, japanese have like a round/heart shaped face, and MYV's face is well, not like that, and about the eyes, koreans mostly have big eyes, so and sometimes it can be difficult to tell a jap person from a korean, but you know, the height and the face shape, yeah, you should look at that, oh, and I think he still uses the glue, I've heard that hahaha, but his eyes aren't small, you know...

Wow. I had no clue he was half Korean- that would explain some things. Yes, Miyavi has an ego problem but not a vanity issue. I don't think he would do surgery especially since he would have already know about temporary tricks like the glue from his visual kei days with Due' le Quartz. I've heard rumors about it applying to other jrockers but not Meevers.

I really don't think his eyes have changed at all. It's an issue in general just because eye surgeries are popular in Japan, but Miyavi's never really needed it all that much. His eyes have always been wide, but it's mostly that crease just because one of the more common Japanese (or Asian) eye shapes is the lack of an eyelid crease. Miyavi, however, has had genetics going for him ever since I remember and most of that probably being due to his half-Korean bloodline. That probably throws a wild card into the mix where you have to question the probability of it. I really don't think so though and you really have to take into consideration his facial expression because the crease naturally goes away depending on what you're doing with your eyes. If they're only half open, you won't see it. Honestly, it seems the same to me as when he had his This is Oudou Live and even earlier pictures.
And FYI, the half-Korean announcement was made in an issue of Rock and Read. Miyavi had actually just recently found out himself that his father had come from Jeju Island. More info on Koreans in Japan can be found on Wikipedia by looking up the island and also the article on "Zainichi".

I don't know.. But I hope that's not true... I don't really see much difference on the pics I see (since I look at most of his pictures for DLQ and now so I can draw them)

Not all Asians have those specific eyelids you speak of. Even among Chinese people you don't always have the "no eyelid" eyes. For instance my grandpa had them, but my grandma, my grandparents on my mom's side, my dad, my sister, and myself all don't and I'm 100% Chinese. Hell, my eyes are even pretty wide, but they've always been that way since I was small. When I was a baby you couldn't really tell cuz well, you're a baby and you haven't grown into your face yet. They shrink though when I smile. It's just that it seems more common among Japanese people to have it although, these days in reality it's hard to tell who is actually "Japanese" because there are people of other Asian ethnicities that live in Japan and hide their heritage to avoid discrimination. So yah, some people are naturally born with wider eyes, so it's only really a problem when they aren't and they get surgery or they get surgery to make it even wider. For that you have to look at pictures and compare though, but when I look at Miyavi's, even when he was Miyabi his eyes were already wide, so if he had it done, it was before he became known, but the most difference I see usually is the use in make up.

That's a good point. I do think the fact that he's half Korean plays a part in it. Now that I know that, I can see it because most Koreans I've seen have wider eyes like his.

I don't think he has.
I mean his eyes look the same to me.
And if he did and i'm like secretly blind or something why would he..asian eyes are like sooo pretty.
Mine were like that when I was little but I am growing out of it.
