I hate it when people use the word "orbs" to describe eyes.

My biggest, BIGGEST, BIGGEST! pet peeve is when authors begin a passage with "Character's POV:"
This irritates me to no end! If the author has any skill at story telling at all, then there should be no need to announce who's perspective we're reading it through. The character perspective should be obvious by what they're doing, who they're talking to, how the other characters talk to them, etc. Whenever I see a story that opens with something like "Watson's POV:", I will immediately click out of it and seek a new story. I have no patience or tolerance for such lazy writing.

It makes them look like one of those people who said Oh I know this word! Let me use it just because I can

I'm guilty of some of those. XD I try not to do it but it happens

Let me use it just because I can That too! I always freeze and do a double-take, like "Oh, I didn't know that was common jargon in medieval times. Silly me!" And don't worry about my list of pet peeves. I... am a bit odd, I'll admit. Some things simply bug me and they're completely fine for other people.

Let me use it just because I can This one bothers me a lot if the character is not in a position to actually know the language. For example, there is no reason for Hermione to call Ron and Harry "baka". They are all born and raised in Britain. If they are going to know a foreign language, it would be either Latin, French, or German. One of the languages that is widely offered at most schools in the British Isles. I'm sure Japanese is also offered, but probably not as widely as the languages of closer countries. Situations like that are when it really, really bothers me. However, there are instances where I don't mind it -even sometimes like it. As in when the character actually is Japanese, living in Japan, or its already established in canon that they speak Japanese. Examples, Voltron. Four of the five pilots of Voltron are from Japan. I am totally willing to believe that they would scream, and swear, and curse in Japanese in the middle of battles. Or like in Fatal Fury. The character Andy Bogard was born and raised in America until he was nine years old. But when his father was murdered he moved to Japan to study under a ninja in order to learn the skills he'd need to avenge his father. His fiancee is a native Japanese-born ninja he met during his training. I am totally willing to believe that he would also use Japanese in every day speech. So, while it does bother me greatly when I feel it has no place. When it does have a place, I like it a lot. I feel it can add a small amount of authenticity to a work.

Violent Crow Using a bunch of funky symbols to signify a page break haha, I do that. But it's because some of the forums/websites I've posted on don't have many options on how to do a scene break. They'll automatically cut areas where you hit return several times, they don't have tabs or line breaks. I just keep it simple and consistent, '-+-' , so readers get used to it like any other punctuation. But then fanfiction net always takes out spots where I have those three symbols in a row xp Fortunately, they do have a line break. My pet peeves are mostly about swearing and shipping. I can tolerate them to a degree, but not if it's obvious that it's swearing for the sake of swearing rather than a reasonable personality trait or a bit of cussing to punctuate how bad a situation has gotten. Same deal with shipping: don't want porn, don't want hooking characters up with little to no reason.

That's what I consider a reasonable character trait. Though I do get put off if every single character and the narration is like that. That's a texture to the text that I'm not comfortable with.

What I also hate is a long a** authors note. I understand if they need to write one but make it brief. Hey do you guys hate when your starting to get into a story and then they update saying their leaving the story?
