National Guard headquarters and Barracks

Due to the fact Zoid Landing is the edge of Olympia, the National Guard decided to station themselves here as a protective force.

The soldiers are very welcome in the area and their heavy presence frightens off people who would cause trouble.

The National Guard, a band of brothers and sisters dedicating their lives to protecting Olympia from hostile threats, both domestic and foreign. For a man like Anthros, one who hasn't been to the Barracks since at least a couple months ago, this was like home to him. The familiar memories of Zoids moving out into the wilderness, early morning drills, and waking up everyday knowing it could potentially be your last. These were the kind of memories that he cherished. But he knew that although he could potentially come back to it at anytime, he wanted more than anything else to just live out the rest of his days with enough money to give his children a good life, like the one his parents gave him.

Taking a long drag of a cigarette, the white haired veteran soldier put his back against a wall and just leaned back, watching the younger generation of soldiers doing their routines. Around here, Anthros could achieve that dream in two ways: either continuing his career as a Special Forces operative deep into unknown territory, or he can pit his skills in the upcoming Zoid Grand Prix. And even though he enjoyed his time as a soldier, he was more looking forward to the Grand Prix than continued service.

But first, he needed a team. Sure he can compete solo and likely do very well. But the big money is when you team up with others, something Anthros is plenty used to. The issue is, none of the new soldiers he's seeing so far have the potential to even keep up with him and his Houndsoldier. He can't trust these rookies to have his back in battle.

Thoughts: I wish these trainees were better, they are horrible

Nikki came out of an office with a frustrated yet calm face. "I swear im going to just kick every single one of them out." She muttered to herself as the trainees from the National Guard's Pilot Academy were infuriating her due to their lack of motivation and skill for flying zoids safely and correctly. "Bad enough they have me here training them, but man they are so stupid." She continued muttering to herself as she began walking down the hallway with an electronic pad as she evaluated each pilot's performance while still maintaining perfect peripheral vision to her surroundings avoiding bumping into someone along the hallway.

She walked outside as the sound of Zoids in movement could be heard along with other vehicles and soldiers chanting during the day's exercises. She walked over to a container that contained dummy ammunition for her trainees and cited it to be moved into the hanger where she instructs. She placed her pad on the container as a gust of wind would pick up, pushing her hair to the side, revealing her Expeditionary Force badge on the back of her jacket. To those that see it, know immediately she was one of those that prevented an onslaught of bandits from sneaking in several high explosive warheads into Olympia a few years ago deep in unknown territory.

Another long drag from his cigarette, followed by the exhale of gray smoke from his mouth. So far, his silent scouring of the Barracks has yielded no results. Every single soldier here looked either too old for the job or was a snot nosed rookie that could aim his Zoid's guns the right way. How disappointing. If they had allowed him to be a drill instructor here, Olympia would see the finest recruits this side of the city. But after he disbanded the Ghost Hounds, his old unit, he turned down an offering to be a drill instructor, thinking the new rookies should be trained by someone else.

How he wished he could of signed that paper now. As his crystal blue eyes scoured the Barracks again, he spotted another, ordering ammunition to be moved into a hanger. She didn't look much older than the recruits, but the way she held herself spoke of prior experience. Maybe she could be a potential recruit, or.....

Probably a graduate from the National Guard's Officer School

He thought to himself when the wind began to pick up. The woman's hair swayed to one side and revealed a badge on her jacket. A badge that the older man knew well. That was the badge of the National Guard's Expeditionary Force, and that only meant one thing. She was a soldier, like him. Probably less experienced, but at least she had enough that he won't feel like dragging along an amateur brat in the Grand Prix.

"Nice Badge," he finally said, loud enough that she can hear him. His eyes would look straight at hers once she turned around, but he didn't smile, merely continued talking for a bit, "When you're done with that, come on over here. I have a proposition that may interest you," he then took another slow drag of the cigarette in his hand before he awaited her answer.

Thoughts: Why is this guy bothering me?

She rolled her eyes as she heard a man yell out to her, which he couldn't see. She turned to him, the sun lighting up her purple iris eye and shining. "Nice badge huh? Either you are a civilian that doesn't know anything or you simply did that without really thinking." She replied as she approached him. "But you aren't a civilian judging by your movement, carefree, but not completely a civilian stance." She said as she continued to evaluate him.

"So tell me, what is this...proposition you are trying to offer?" She asked. "If its illegal you can consider my answer as a no." She said as she took her eye off him and back to her pad as she finished a few more evaluations, then her eyes went back to him.

Illegal? Well Anthros wouldn't stoop that low. He was a man of order, one that based his life on some sort of discipline. Illegal activity is another way of saying he's gonna be disrespectful of the law. Which he is not. When she asked him what he wanted and judged him to not be a civilian, he didn't give a smirk in reply, simply exhaled from his cigarette and looked back at her, "You are right. Obviously I am not a civilian. And I only commented on the badge to get your attention, I know exactly what that badge means. You're a member or former member of the Expeditionary Force, a most prestigious unit to be a part of. Impressive work indeed."

Of course he knew about the operation years ago that foiled a group of bandits attempts to smuggle explosives into Olympia. The Scout Force was the first to know about the plan, it was she and the rest of the force that eliminated that threat while his unit, the Ghost Hounds, took out the Bandit Leader. Now that he got a good look at her, she did seem quite familiar. Of course back when he would of saw her, she would of been a rookie pilot.

"As for my proposition, the Zoid Grand Prix is coming up soon, and the National Guard is wanting a few of their best to represent them in the upcoming tournament. They have authorized me to scout out potential recruits to become part of the team. But so far, I've seen more snot nosed kids than actual soldiers. Except for you. I figured an Ace Pilot like yourself would be a great addition to the team."

Thoughts: Damnit this is getting expensive.

"Are you serious? Cmon Gene, I asked you to tune her up and get her ready for the prix, not bankrupt me." Ramsey shouted on the phone as he slowly turned his motorcycle into the entrance of the base flashing his identification to the guard before continuing in.

"Yes yes, I know, you can't give me any special deals since I left the defense force, but you have worked with her the most and I wanted you to make sure she was in working order." He continued as slowly rode the bike through the base weaving and dodging the personal and zoids moving about the base. It had become second nature for him to learn the flow of base life throughout the years, and he had become an expert of driving his bike through it without causing any interference to the workers. He finally let out a sigh of resignation. "Fine you gotta deal this time Gene, load her on the truck. I already here I will take her back to my garage. Want to scout out the barracks real quick. Be there in a few."

Ramsey hung up the phone and pocketed it as he parked his bike outside the barracks. "I need to get a manager quick. I am no good at this management thing." He was definitely racking up the bills quick and burning through his savings. He needed to join a team quick and hope they had some sort of money before he bankrupted himself. He let out one final sighg and rubbed the back of his head as he entered the barracks taking in his surroundings. Before looking around and just shouting. "Yo!" Not really directing it to anyone and more to just the whole barracks together. They were his old family and he felt like he was coming home to a reunion. So why wait on greetings.

Some responded with a wave though most inside just sorta ignored him. Causing Ramsey to just blow his bangs up in annoyance. "A guy leaves for 6 months and it like he wasn't here. Yall a bunch of bums."

She had a slight smirk. "Well depending if you know such information, you would have had to taken part in it as well, didn't you...Ghost Hound?" She asked as she determined from his statement to be the former leader of the Ghost Hounds. She wasn't dumb, she knew many things in the National Guard, and she could pick up on these things just from what people say and plug things together very quickly.

"Well, i think being part of the Zoid Grand Prix might be a good thing, there is nothing more i hate than these stupid trainees, i prefer to let someone else take blame for their accidents than me...looks bad for an Ace Pilot." She said as the trainees were complete wild stallions that weren't broken in as it wasn't her job but the instructors that failed to do so.

"So i guess what im saying is that i accept your proposition, though i do suggest making sure you have a spare pilot to cover my spot, since im on the calling list for immediate responses." She said as she pointed out she wasn't a fulled time member of the National Guard but on a list to be called should an emergency arise.

"Hmph, glad somebody knows my reputation around here," he answered, noting that Nicole called him by his old callsign. A call sign he got from the way he fought: high speed with his Houndsoldier, disabling and destroying his target's within a blink of an eye, and vanishing with the howl of his Zoid being the last thing his opponent hears. Hit hard, hit quickly, and disappear without a trace. That was his modus operandi. It was this high speed engage and disengage that landed him command of his own unit, which took the name of his callsign.

"Do not worry about that, I already have plans on who I want on the team," he added, hearing about Nicole technically being a reserve soldier for the Guard when desperate times call for her to be reenlisted. Technically, he was as well, but the likelihood of his expertise being needed again was unlikely, and it would have to be a serious offensive if he is reenlisted. He heard someone greeting the entire barracks and turned his eyes towards Ramsey, "Speaking of which," he added, "I think we got the other pilot we need."

Now his contacts back in the Ghost Hounds had listed Ramsey as a potential recruit into the Special Forces unit. Under the codename of 'Paladin', the Orudios Zoid he flew was just one of a specialized unit only called in when they need heavily armed and mobile units in either the ground or air forces. Ramsey would catch Anthros motioning with his head to walk to them before he added, "Ramsey, long time no see. How would you like to get back in the saddle of your Orudios?"

Thoughts: Oooo spooky ghosts and hot babes. Color me intrigued.

Ramsey was still scouting up potential and listening in on random conversations around the barracks. If he was going to find team members where best then to find them here on a military base. "Hmm if it ain't ghost." he said with a smirk and raised intrigued eyebrow. Before walking over Anthros extended his hand to shake the mans hand in a proper greeting. Before doing the same to the hot ace pilot he was accompanying. "And the ace pilot of the expeditionary force. Man ain't I in just the exclusive club of celebrities." he joked before taking a more casual stance amongst his colleagues.

He did however give Anthros a grin. "You talk like I left it. Just because I took myself off active duty doesn't mean I don't take my lady Black Bolt out for a run every now and again. She get's feisty if I leave her alone for too long. Though as long as you not trying to pull me into some black ops spooky business. You can can't me interested to whatever your offering Anthros" While it was not the first time he had been approached by a ghost. Ramsey had been one to refuse there offers several times. It wasn't that he didn't appreciate the offer. It was more that he liked his position on the defense force more. He never had to worry about keeping his actions secret and there was usually a lot less blood shed in the process.

Thoughts: That was fast.

Nikki had a slight smirk on her face yet again as to how quickly Anthros went to this other man to recruit as part of the team. "Hopefully he will contribute so we can actually go through with this team." She muttered to herself as she approached them. "An Orudios huh?" She asked as those are far and few between.

"Do you like it?" She asked as not everyone truly enjoys their Zoid, but rather plainly work with it since its what they have to use. "I know in the sky it is actually slightly bit faster than my Raynos, but does it have the agility of a Raynos to control it?" She asked as she became more interested, she never piloted an Orudios, since she was always content with her Raynos. Her curiosity sprung as it would have to be a sky melee for an Orudios as she wasn't completely familiar if it had anti-air hard points like her Raynos.

'This team selection may be interesting and worth it after all....but its full of guys...' Her enthusiasm went down as she realized the realization of what her team actually was, and completely missed his question about a suitable manager for the team.

Well maybe he overestimated how long Ramsey has been out of the National Guard, but it was likely just as long as Anthros has been. And he can understand their Zoids being feisty and not wanting to be cooped up as Kitsa would bark at him for hours until he takes her out for a run. Nicole mentioned whether Ramsey can contribute to the team and Anthros looked towards her in response, those cold eyes looking her over before he looked back to Ramsey and answered, "No, I'm not pulling you into the Ghost Hounds unit. The National Guard appointed me to gather up some of our finest soldiers to make a team for the Zoid Grand Prix. Let us veteran warriors show the civilian populace how to fight with a Zoid."

It's no secret he's not a fan of those he believes are unable to pilot a Zoid to it's maximum potential. As he told his unit, 'If you are unable to bring out your Zoid's full potential, you have no business in the cockpit or in my unit.' He doesn't trust easily, it was obvious. It took him a couple year with the Ghost Hounds to even trust them with having his back during missions. With an Ace Pilot and a man that was scouted heavily for the Ghost Hounds, perhaps he can trust these guys with having his back?

"I find that all of our expertise can go well together. Nicole has experience in aerial combat, Ramsey has a Zoid that can function in the air and on the ground, and well I don't need to talk about my own qualifications. All I need now is someone to manage the team, because I am not that good with money, nor do I want the hassle of team management again. I just want to fight," he said. As much as he was qualified to lead them, he was not wanting that pressure again. Someone else can make those calls and handle the money. He's just a fighter, always has been.

Thoughts: This going to be fuuuunn

Ramsey raised an eyebrow as he watched Anthros look over the Raynos ace. He was not offended at all that the girl didn't know who he was. Other than being the Paladin and piloting an Orudios. Ramsey has kept his skill mostly under the radar unless you were specifically looking.

"Black Bolt is amazing and a thing of beauty and oh ya she can out maneuver any Raynos. Well maybe not any, there are a few that might have the right skills to put her through her paces." He said with a friendly smile that did hold a bit of flirtation in his eyes, but that couldn't be helped. Not every day a beautiful ace pilot shows interest in what you do. "In fact she here on the base now if you want to see her. Gotta go pick her up from the shop had some work done to her make her ready for the prix once it starts."He said the glint of eagerness to go retrieve his beloved Orudios glinting in his eye.

His attention quickly swapped it's way over to Anthros as he mentiong the National Guard Grand Prix team and to say his curiosity sky rocketing above and beyond would be an understatement. He couldn't help raise and eyebrow and smirk at the cold man. "Really now, that so? Well if that's the way it gonna be I gonna have to sign myself up right here and now. though I agree a hundred percent I not to good at managing money. I nearly bankrupted myself trying to get my Orudios ready for the prix. Though with a team like this I think I can make it back in no time." The eagerness returning again into his bright green eyes. "Oooo this is gonna be fuuuuun."

Nikki wanted to raise her own eyebrow against Ramsey at the time but she decided not to as she saw his reaction when he turned to Antrhos. She then listened to what Ramsey said, she could fill the flirtation and she automatically entered her natural defense, her purple iris eye that was exposed looked down as she slightly blushed.

"Well you know...competition isn't good between teammates, the best thing to do is work together and not build up a silly competition..." She said as she couldn't exactly concentrate but get out what was in her head at the present time.

'Does he take care of his zoid? I wouldn't let it go that far.' She thought in her mind, she never had to pay so much to maintain her Raynos since she took good care of it.

"Then it's settled," Anthros answered, "We will be forming the Omega Squadron, however the three of us won't be doing this alone. We all do not have the money to keep our team going for long, and State Teams already have issues with money that privately owned teams have. We need someone with much better money managing skills than the three of us, and just more money that all of us combined."

Anthros looked towards Nicole, then to Ramsey, waiting for a few moments for the two of them to speak up anytime before he continued, "Any of you know of such a person that could aid us like this?"

After all, they needed more funds to repair and rearm the Zoids, to purchase rooms and storage for themselves and the Zoids, and to help plan for matches. And when it came to tactics and strategy, they have more training than the civilians do.
