A large grassy plain, Restful Meadow earned it's name years ago as Farmer's used to come and rest here after a long day's work.

Nothing is gonna take me down when I put my mind to something...
A tall red headed man with a black eye patch walked through the plains. He didn't seem particularly focused on anything and was just looking around. Zed walked aimlessly through the large expanse of rolling green grass, his hands deep in his pockets as he looked around. It was such a calm and peaceful area, with no one really to be seen as far as the eye could go. It was nice and quiet, perfect blue skies with a little fluff of cloud here and there. Zed took a step forward and then twirled on his foot as he fell back, landing his rear in the soft cushy grass as he pulled his hands out of his pockets and stretched his arms. He moved his arms behind his head to form a somewhat comfortable pillow. He let out a deep sigh from within his chest and exhaled his breath slowly, blinking once and just staring at the vast blue expanse. What to do on such a beautiful day rather than lying in the grass, contemplating?
As long as I have a single breath in me, I'll keep on going!

Riza||||Strider "It was only an attempt for a laugh.... buzzkills...."
Zora escorted Hunter with his zoid into her shop. Although the plan was to eat and then get back to work her mood did not want to. Every time she walked in and thought of all the work she needed to do (especially the paper work type) she just wanted to bolt out of there. You'd think she'd have finished after two months but she swore every day something new came up. Whether Hunter cared to or not, she in a way dragged him off for a walk. Her excuse was that he "needed to get fresh air to calm down his buzz". The true reason was her fear and hate for paper work. Hunter was quite on the tipsy side when they met so using such an excuse was rational and would make sense. He would have no reason to think other wise? "So Hunter... if you are going to be helping me out... tell me a little abit about your self?... YEah I probably should have done these questions before hand... meh oh well. You don't need to go into detail. Everyone has right to secrets, just let me know what you think I need to know?"
After leaving the bar Riza had instructed Hunter to fetch his zoid. They had to take a bit of a detour as the shop where the molga was being kept was a sort of out of the way from any direct route between the bar and Riza’s shop. They did however make it there and Hunter had sobered up enough to pilot a zoid from one garage to the next. It just so worked out that there was enough space at Riza’s shop for the old zoid. Instead of getting a chance to acclimate though Riza suggested they take a walk, she said she wanted Hunter to sober up some more, though he thought he was fine, if he could pilot a zoid in this condition he could work. Either way it seemed reasonable enough, most people wouldn’t trust a drunken mechanic, especially one they didn’t know.
Riza sort of led the walk as they headed to a meadow area frequented by farm hands. It was a pleasant enough place to just walk around and relax and truth be told the nature of the place did sort of help Hunter get back into his head so to say. He was still a little buzzed but the best part of it was long gone now. Riza eventually threw out the inevitable question that she honestly should have asked earlier. Hunter actually chuckled quietly to himself hearing her question. She had recognized how odd it was to hire someone then interview them after the fact but it didn’t seem to matter to her and Hunter obviously didn’t mind, he needed work. For the rather short time he’d known her she’d made a rather favorable impression on him. She seemed honest and strong, and for lack of evidence to the contrary she seemed pretty kind too. ”I guess I appreciate your respect to privacy, you could have just as easily interrogated me when I was drunken sideways. And I don’t know that I’ve expressed this enough yet but I’m very grateful for this arrangement.” He smiled to her and sort of offered a half bow before continuing to walk. He wasn’t totally sure what the bowing thing was about but he’d been raised doing it as a sign of respect to be used in a number of situations, it was almost second nature at this point to him. ”Anyway, I was born is a small village pretty far from here. Really nice place nestled into a small valley. Things got a little stagnant there so my family and I agreed that I’d better be able to serve them if I found a source of income and a practical skill so naturally this city is where I ended up.” He paused for the briefest of moments as he thought about it. He’d been sending money and small things like toys and supplies home but he hadn’t gotten mail back in some time, it sort of worried him but it wasn’t cause for too much alarm yet. He shook the thought and kept talking. ”When I got here I already had a minor understanding of zoid repair and the like, but when I finally found a shop that would take me on as an apprentice I found out I knew very little. I spent a year practicing with one mentor, then started hopping shops for another year learning from as many people as I could…” He paused a moment in thought. ”Ya know, I think I’ve actually been to your shop before. It looks familiar…I think I worked under the previous owner for a few months back when I was shop hopping. He mentioned something about…wait, are you his daughter? I think he mentioned something about his kid being out while I was there. He’d mentioned that he was used to having help.” The question was rather forward but the shop looked so similar like things hadn’t really been moved around, that would be odd if someone knew had taken over. ”Er…sorry, that’s a weird question. I just remembered that. I’ve been working at a few shops for five years since then, kinda surprised I remembered that.” That was about all he’d say. No need to mention why he hadn’t had a job when he met her; assuming of course she wouldn’t ask.

Nothing is gonna take me down when I put my mind to something...
Zed sat upright as he heard multiple voices approaching him and looked around scratching his head while letting out a long yawn and stretching his arms in the air, the sounds of his bones cracking as he stretched. He shook his head to ward off the drowsiness that he had come to have after spending some time by himself on the meadow and then stood up slowly pushing off his knees in order to stand himself upright. He looked around and saw two people, a male and a female. He cocked his head off to one side as he observed the people, and even though he was at a distance from them he could make out the gist of their conversation. He shrugged his shoulder and decided to go meet the two, get acquainted with them and introduce himself as well. He jogged slowly over to where they were and gave a friendly wave and smile.
Hey there strangers. Hope I'm not intruding on anything, but it seemed rude of me if I didn't walk over and say hello.

It happens ^u ^
Riza||||Strider "It was only an attempt for a laugh.... buzzkills...."
Most of what Hunter told her needed no comment or reply. She wasn't going to pry into the details of his childhood or other things. Merely she was curious to if he was skilled as an engineer, how he started etc. The answer he gave her was satisfactory. The part about her shop looking familiar did catch her off guard. She hadn't always been in her fathers shop, especially for the past few or so years. Her father had told her he'd hire help from time to time. The help never stayed long, not because her father got rid of them but because they learned what they could from him and moved on to gain more. The same thing she did. As much as she loved her father and helping him in his shop, she felt she needed to get out to truly develop her potential.
Past empolyees was still a file she had to look through. If she had his name would have popped up and been familiar, but until then she could only guess. "Well... it previously belonged to my father. If it looks familiar its because you maybe did work for him at some point..." She was not really expecting him to completely recall. It was an interesting thought. If he worked for her father she was more willing and trusting to let him handle her shop.
As they continued on their walk another male came to them. Riza stopped herself from continuing on the conversation with Hunter. Blinking Riza thought for a moment before she talked. "Hi... and I guess it's not rude... takes guts to just walk up to complete strangers and greet them. Gotta give you points for that." Typical of her, turning things into a playful joke.
Honestly Hunter figured that by giving his whole life’s story there’d be too much information to process so that Riza probably would have too many questions. He wasn’t trying to be too shady about it and he also didn’t mind being open about it, so there wouldn’t be too many natural questions either. The last part did warrant a reply though. He wasn’t entirely surprised to hear that she was in fact the daughter of the shop’s previous owner, but it was a bit of a coincidence that he had found her and that moreover she had offered him a job of sorts after all this time and having never met her before. Despite his rural upbringing Hunter was never all that superstitious but still, this was a peculiar turn of events. If nothing else he could hope it was some sign of good luck.
”Well, that’s certainly a coincidence then isn’t it?” He was thinking about saying more but couldn’t come up with much. He was really starting to wish he had some cigarettes on him but he could still remember checking his pocket earlier. For the best probably, cigarette smoke would just ruin the nice air about the field.
Hunter eventually noticed another man who had been lying down in the grass walking towards them. He waved before approaching and speaking to him. His smile conveyed friendly intent so it didn’t seem too concerning, just a little odd maybe. Essentially he just wanted to say hello. He didn’t seem to know Riza so he was just some stranger. Riza replied first somewhat pointing out how it was a tad odd to just walk up to someone to say “hi.” Hunter simply returned the greeting with a slight nod.
”Friendly at the very least.” He sort of tacked on the observation to what Riza had said. ”So what’s up, can we help you with something?” He spoke the phrase as an honest question, not the “buzz off” kind of way. No reason to be rude really.
On the far side of what had been dubbed the Restful Meadow, stood a single figure. From where the group that was talking was the man would be little more than a barely distinguishable figure on what was almost the horizon. Trees in the far background made it easier to make out broad details of the man. Even from this distance it would not be too hard see that the man was tall, at least six feet, which would not be far off from the man's actual height of six feet and too inches. Other than his height, only colors could be made out, the most obvious color being white that covered most of the top portion of the figure. The man was wearing a white button up shirt, the first few buttons unbuttoned. For pants the man wore black, almost dress style pants, commonly called kackie pants because of their style. His shoes were simple flat bottom shoes that did not extend upward past the ankle, though that would not be visible since the pants covered the top portion of the shoe and the man's ankle.
The most stand-outish characteristics of the man would be his face, specifically his hair and eyes. Cool icy blue eyes peered out from under shoulder blade length blonde hair. Curiously, the hair started off as pure blonde at the root, but seemed to darken the longer it grew, fading to a darker blonde towards the ends, yet still obviously blonde. By any standards the man was handsome and attractive, and the obviously present toned muscles that could be see on his arms and through the unbuttoned top of his shirt certainly did not hurt his image in the least.
Turning towards the group, the figure slowly became larger and more details could be seen. He was coming over, for no apparent reason, but he was taking his time. His walk was slow...casual, but avoided any symbolism of arrogance. His posture and the way he walked showed an obvious military background, not that his appearance really suggested any such fact. Once within about thirty feet, the man would be clearly visible to all three people currently in the meadow, but he would stand out to only one of them. Flashing a brilliant smile as he spoke, the figure stopped a few paces away from the group, his eyes glancing over the figure of the only female there.
"Riza Strider....It has been......quite a while....You've certainly changed into a very beautiful young woman."
Nothing is gonna take me down when I put my mind to something...
Zed gave a small chuckle at Riza's response and scratched his head after Hunter spoke. In truth Zed really didn't have anything on his mind and wasn't really thinking of what to do at all, just letting the thoughts come to him like waves crashing on the beach sand. He made a somewhat wide gesture to the area around him, which was bare to say the least save for the few people that currently occupied it.
Well it's not like I walked up to a stranger in the middle of a busy city and said 'hey'. I don't see many people come by here is all. Name's Zeddicus Seiberling, but you can call me Zed for short. What brings you out to these parts?
Zeddicus peered around and noticed a tall man with rather long hair approaching them as well. Something about the man was poking at Zed's mind but he couldn't quite put his finger on who he was. He folded his arms over his chest as the only visible eye was focused on the two people in front of him.

Riza||||Strider "It was only an attempt for a laugh.... buzzkills...."
Riza didn't always believe in coincidences, for some situations were too baffling to think it wasn't some sort of result of something, like a butterfly batting its wings. Hunter had worked for her father, the odds of her rehiring him in her time of need? This, this was a little help from fate. Although she would not show it, her mind was dancing with joy thanking whatever heavens there were to thank. Maybe she did have a guardian angel of some sort. If this said "angel" was her fathers spirit, she had a fear and a feeling he would try pushing some sort of relationship on her.
The stranger introduced himself it was only fair for them to do the same, however first she was going to answer his question. "Sobering up this guy, Hunter, with a walk, simple chatting. Chilling basically I guess you could say that," Said the female. The way she spoke it would seem like she was joking about everything. Only Hunter would really realize the sober part was true. "My name is..." Just as she was about to say her name, some stranger called out her name.
The hairs on the back of her neck rose like that of a guard dogs. Her first thoughts were that of someone she or her father owned money too. Instinctively she felt like bolting out of there but she stayed, mainly because she didn't want to make a scene. As the blonde got closer he kept talking. The slight flirty notion at the end would go completely unnoticed by the girl. From how he spoke it appeared in knew her. Her look was that of confusion. Possibly the last reaction the man was expecting. With his looks and the words "beautiful woman" leaving his mouth most girls probably melted. Nope... not Riza, she was too dense. Flirty was a language she did not know.
"Who the hell are you?" The words escaping her were as blunt as a bat. For someone who recognized her, it was sure to hurt not being recognized in return. Only after she spoke those words did her slow mind start to process the mans features comparing it to past memories. Her glance changed from confusion to one of curiosity, as if she were trying to solve a puzzle. Slowly it was coming to her. "sla... vla... plastic... no thats not a name... vlastic... oh! Static!" She got his name right eventually but ended with his nickname. It was hard to miss the temporary moment of pride for remembering how he was. Well, on her defense she hadn't seen him in a looooong time. Made her wonder how he recognized her right away.

The one eyed man who had approached gave a fair enough explanation for his actions. It still wasn’t particularly “normal” per say but then again that was all relative. Having lived in Olympia for so long Hunter had sort of forgotten what it was like for people to be friendly as a default rather than always on guard. He introduced himself as “Zed” and followed up with the reasonable question of what they were doing. Riza responded first rather bluntly to which Hunter had to pinch the bridge of his nose a bit, just short of a face palm. Without anything else to really say Hunter just sort of nodded again as a formal greeting this time.
Another man appeared next, this one wearing slightly less clothing and having long blonde hair. Hunter couldn’t help cocking a brow at the approaching man. His appearance was really something to just be walking around a field. He seemed to know Riza but in the past tense. The newcomer threw in a rather flirtatious line but as Hunter glanced beside himself at Riza he noticed her tense up just slightly. Hunter’s gaze returned to the blonde man sort of waiting to see what this one wanted now…other than Riza obviously. Riza’s first reaction to the new stranger almost caused Hunter to start laughing aloud. He instead simply stifled a slight grin hearing his new friend’s blatant query. The look of concern on her face slowly devolved to one of puzzle, and then she seemed to recall something. She started trying to speak out the man’s name from seemingly feint memory. She settled on referring to the man as “Static” which sounded like an odd name. Hunter didn’t really know what exactly was going on anymore in all honesty. He wasn’t quite used to so many people popping up out of nowhere.
”You two are acquainted then? I’m Hunter and this is Zed apparently.” Hunter sort of motioned towards Zed with his hand while introducing him. Being a resident of Olympia, Hunter wasn’t totally out of the loop when it came to the grand prix, after all that was generally where his business came from be it actual pilots or up and coming wannabes. This blonde man was a higher up judge and Zed was most likely a pilot. Hunter wasn’t sure if he’d seen one of Zed’s matches or not, but the missing eye was a sign. There were only two reasonable ways to get a scar like that and Zed didn’t really seem like some shady thug so pilot was the next most logical choice. ”So what are the chances of getting a judge, a pilot and two engineers all in one empty field at the same time?” It was an honest question; this was the second coincidence in one day. ”Though I suppose that could just be what it is. Anyone got any smokes?” Though the alcohol was of course still in his system, Hunter couldn’t really feel it at all by this point. He had a feeling this judge guy might just keep hitting on Riza, which would be entertaining, but if he was just going to be standing around whilst she shot him down through obliviousness he at least wanted a cigarette. This was Hunter’s slightly less sociable side showing through. Even if he couldn’t feel the benefits of the booze he was starting to get a little sleepy. He sort of wanted to just see the garage again to get better familiarized with it again then take a nap. What could he do though?
Vlastic's eyes scanned over the group again, lingering on the man with the red hair and eyepatch for only a moment. Surely this man had either been involved in some sort of accident, or was a Zoid pilot. He didn't fit the military mindset, but then again neither did Vlastic. How many soldiers had long blonde hair and smoked pot? Well, they didn't know about the pot right now, and as far as he was concerned, they would never know. The Head Judge had a reputation to uphold after all didn't he? What would Olympia think if the teams started accusing him of being high while judging, which he of course never ever was. Work and recreation were indeed separate for Vlastic, and nothing ever changed that.
Vlastic smile stayed on he face, at least until Riza spoke. Even as she looked at him, Vlastic could tell that he had changed enough that Riza did not recognize him. But he sure remembered the General's daughter well. Her and her pranks were the types of things that went down base history, at least among those that fell victim to them. But what really took the wind out of the man's sails was Riza's attempts to remember his name, butchering it, and then settling on his nickname. "Ouch, Riza. Forgot me that easily? Figured you'd have seen my face around somehow. Not like I'm not known at least somewhat in Olympia."
Vlastic's gaze turned to the last male there, Hunter, as the man spoke. Nodding in response to the man's first question. They were loosely acquainted, but Riza and Vlastic knew each other from his military days, thanks to the girl's dad. Hunter did bring up a good point about how odd it was for this group of people to just happen to be in the same area, but it was what it was and Vlastic thought no more of it. Looking to the man as he asked about cigarettes, Vlastic reached into his jacket and pulled out an unopened pack. The man himself never smoked cigarettes, but he kept a pack with him just in case anyone ever claimed to have seen him smoking somewhere. He was careful and thought about stuff like that, and it had saved him a few times.
O.O.C. Sorry for the crap post. Not really feeling it, but didn't want to make anyone wait.
Nothing is gonna take me down when I put my mind to something...
Zed stretched his arms up in the air as he let out a small yawn. It dawned on him who the new arrival was, and it was none other than the head judge. Interesting though to see someone of his stature out here. He shifted his eye patch slightly before stuffing his hands back in his pockets. When Hunter introduced himself to the newcomer, Zed gave a small grin and bowed his head slightly.
Pleased to make all your acquaintances...
Zeddicus stood up straight, fixing his slouched posture and looking at the three people standing before him. He pulled one hand out of his pocket to smooth out his brightly colored hair as the wind blew it.

Riza||||Strider "It was only an attempt for a laugh.... buzzkills...."
If it weren't for the fact Riza was used to getting in trouble and making a fool of herself, she would have felt completely embarrassed at the way she treated the head judge. It was just another reason for him to look familiar in her eyes. Probably why she got so confused. Sure she loved zoids and the battles in the tournaments but she didn't exactly pay attention to names and faces (especially if they weren't participating). Her interest was in the zoids.
Vlastic's reaction towards her "name calling" merely got a shrug from her. She was going to say something along the lines of "what if you're famous?" until hunter spoke mentioning the professions of everyone there. Quick blinks came as a surprised look came to her face. "Ehhhh!?? You the head judge!?" Shock turned to amusement and then a laugh. If you asked her when she was younger she would have never though someone like him would get such a position like a head judge. Riza swore he was one of the military cadets always getting into trouble, he was very laid back and chill, maybe even enough to be called lazy. Fortunately for him she refrained from making such comments to not add onto her previous failure. "Wow... that's quite the feat there. And, I barely know faces of anyone dealing with the tournament. Point a zoid out to me I'll identify right away though," she stated for everyone to her. She was basically giving an excuse with some truth to it though.
"Well, it's nice to see you again Vlastic.... was what.... 10... years ago the last time?" Turning to Zed she nodded and smiled. "Likewise"

To Hunter’s surprise, the judge actually did have a pack of cigarettes on him and readily handed them out. Hunter took hold of the pack, noting that it was unopened. He reached into his pocket to pull out a small pocket knife, using it to make a quick incision in the packaging to open it cleanly. He carefully plucked a single white cylinder from the box before closing it and handing it back to Vlastic. As the others continued making small talk Hunter slowly repositioned himself so that he was downwind of everyone else, not that there was much more than a light breeze, he just didn’t want to be rude about it. Bad enough he was lighting up anyway, didn’t need to ruin it for everyone else. He reached into his pocket once more for his lighter, flicked it once to start the flame then brought it up to light the end of the cigarette. He took one inhale then returned the lighter to his pocket as he slowly let the smoke escape his lips.
Back within the context of the conversation, Riza seemed unaware of Vlastic’s standing in the city despite having seemed to know him from the past. When she made the comment about being better with naming zoids than people Hunter chuckled a little to himself. He gave another second before taking another drag off the cigarette. Riza mentioned that the last time she’d seen Vlastic was a decade ago. Hunter mulled it over in his head, that would have been before Hunter had even arrived in Olympia. With that passing thought, he finally decided to ask what he was wondering.
”So where exactly do you two know one another from if I might ask?” Seemed like a fair enough question. Hunter almost felt bad for not engaging with Zed as he was the one who’d kicked off the little meeting; though on that same note this was still a little awkward and random. It was probably a good thing to have some sort of in with the head judge, maybe he was just a player but he clearly had some interest in Riza even if just in passing. That being said though, they were just engineers, not even assigned or in sponsorship of a team, it wasn’t like Hunter would think of asking for special favors pertaining to the grand prix but judges held weight in the city, could be helpful for securing parts suppliers and the like. That like everything else though was just a passing thought though; one that Hunter would simply tuck away for another time assuming a need for assistance would ever rise in the first place. Hunter just took another inhale of smoke then let it trail out of his mouth.

sorry for not addressing Zed, I wanted to ask what zoid he piloted but couldn't figure how to work that in....
