Unity Bridge
Royal Olympia's most famous Canal Bridge, despite being one of many, Unity is a favourite tourist stop for one reason and one reason only: Love Locks.
Love Locks are a phenomenon that was started by the first ever settlers of Olympia back when the Central District was still growing. After building a bridge across the canal; people began tying rope knots around the bridge's handrails in order to announce their engagement to the rest of the community. The rope would usually have some sort of modification or item attached to it in order to identify the couple. Eventually though, as Olympia rose and the need to build better bridges became apparent, the wooden hand rails were replaced by stone walls and the Love Knots that once littered the old bridge sunk to the bottom of the Canal with the old, obsolete bridge.
However, the Love Knots didn't die and were instead replaced with the ever impressive Love Lock. Engraved with the name's of the couple on the Lock itself, people began to flock towards Royal Olympia and above all Unity Bridge to put their lock on the Bridge's many designated and appropriate areas in order to bless their love. It would be after attaching their lock that the couple would throw the key into the Canal.
As time went on the locks became more elaborate and people began making a huge effort to secure expensive and beautifully crafted locks.
